With how he's supposed to be good covering TEs and he commented on how he got good by covering the Utah TEs in practice specifically Kincaid, have to think the two do have a fun relationship.

I'll be happy if he can lock down Kelce when the Bills play the Chiefs.  Mr. Swift has feasted on the Bills every game.

I don't get people being mad that we traded with KC and "gave them" the receiver they wanted.  KC was going to get the receiver anyway, and we didn't want him - so we traded back and got the compensation that matches the move according to the draft trade formulas.  Did people want us to draft a player we didn't want just to spite KC?

And people saying we should have gotten more for the trade just aren't being realistic.  If they asked for more than the trade was valued at the trade wouldn't have happened

People can be mad if they wanted Worthy and the Bills didn't draft him, but being mad they "gave" a player to KC doesn't make sense.  KC literally paid a price for it

people are just mad because they're worried about the media skewering/trolling from other fan bases that will come IF Worthy pans out and the Chiefs continue to own the Bills.

This would be akin to the Sabres trading their first round pick to Toronto and having the Leafs draft a superstar with it.

It's not a rational view of the trade down, it's simply fear of being mocked for years to come.

    Thanks for a decent response!!

It is a somewhat complex analysis to be sure, with a bunch of variables.  Here's the thing, that's not Allen's strong suit.  Wouldn't it seem logical to play to his strong suit in the interests of getting all that we can from him, instead of trying to turn him into a game-managing ball-control passer?  That seems patently illogical.

Last season, 9 of Allen's TD passes were 20+ yards.  Without looking, and knowing stats from years of analyzing the NFL, I'd venture to say that easily that's more than any QB playing today and likely even way back.  15 of his 29 were 15 yards+.  19 were double-digit TDs.

Let's contrast that with Mahomes, considered to be the best in the game today and since Brady.  Mahomes had 3 of 27 over 20 and 5 in double-digits.

It doesn't add up.  Call it The Process or whatever, but things are not aligning with what they've said since they drafted Allen.  They drafted him for his athletic ability and ability to make every throw and for his strong arm, right.  But you're suggesting that they're now trying to turn him into something contrary to that.

Call me crazy, but good coaches take their strength(s) and figure out how to shove them down the opponents' throats.  Belichick didn't try to put a cap on Brady, neither is Reid trying to put a cap on Mahomes.  But it seems that McD, via Brady now, is trying to do that with Allen.

The types of receivers we have, whatever their design by McBeane, are what we have because that's how we've planned.  Just as they say your as good as your record says you are, so too, your roster is as good as you've made it.

In desperately looking to find some sort of plan or methodology here, all that anyone can offer is to blindly trust The Process, but seemingly not realizing that this Process isn't even identifiable for the most part and has otherwise never been articulated as to what it is.  And now on the cusp of us going from one of the league's best passing teams to some version of the Ravens.  Allen's better than Jackson, but not if he's not going to be used to his strengths.

We seem to be taking a square peg and trying to force it into a round hole.

There was a very good article written last year that interviewed (anonymously) several DCs who said it was their stated goal to take away the overhead game.  It was a DIRECT response to taking away what made Rodgers, Allen and Mahomes great.  What you're seeing isn't the Bills (and Chiefs) taking away what are our QB's strengths, but a counterpunch to what defences are now giving them.  It's where Dorsey failed as an OC.  He refused to see that DCs around the league were begging him to run and work the underneath routes.

He was great for us - but like others, I'm kind of relieved.

This team has come up short repeatedly in the playoffs.  Diggs was a no-show the past 2 playoffs losses, and dropped one of the best passes I think I've seen in the postseason.

We're heading into '24 w/ essentially a new team. It feels like a very needed clean slate.

I'm with you.  Last season, to me, was the last opportunity for THAT iteration of the Bills to prove that they could get it done.  And they had everything lined up to show us that.  The beasts of the AFC, both KC and Cincinatti, were very vulnerable and the vaunted Eagles and Niners out of the NFC had warts as well.  They even got the Chiefs at home....and they still couldn't get it done.

I'm ok with a "new look" Bills from this season onwards.  The old guard couldn't win it, so it's time to dump cap and start again.

Houston is building their team right. Going all in on OFFENSE. This is an offensive league and whoever scores the most points wins. The Bills are trying to run the ball more and play good defense. Someone needs to tell this isn't 2005

The team that won the Super Bowl did it on the backs of the best defense they ever assembled and a WR/RB running room that looked like extras from The Replacements...

  6. Anyone think it's kinda funny that the Texans just created this issue where they needed a Diggs by unnecessarily trading a MUCH better receiver away in Deandre Hopkins...?

Anyways, the return is meh, the current WR room is a major concern and I guess Diggs was more toxic than any of us realized.  Hope he can be "HIM" in Houston.  But my gut tells me this is the start of his "hop-along" career where he wears 6 different jerseys before calling it a career.

  7. Guys...my friend and his famiily were on the same flight home with Josh today.  Apparently, he was able to be very sweet to their daughter (a huge fan) and took time from stuffing his face full of airport food to take a picture with her, sign an autograph and tell her how awesome it was to meet a Bills fan in Paris.

I've asked my friend if I can share the picture but be warned, he may seem grossly obese to some...

  8. There was a recent suspension in the NHL where one player (Shane Pinto) got suspended for HALF the season but the NHL was very nebulous on what he exactly did and made a blanket statement that he "did not bet on his own team".

Through people I know, what had happened is he had his friend make a bunch of "prop bets" on him and he went out of his way to meet them (i.e. number of shots per game, hits, points, etc.)

This is going to happen more and more.

Certain "stereotypes" about gun violence exist for a reason. Last year, black people made made up roughly 60% of the homicide arrests, despite the fact that about 70% of inner-city murders go unsolved. They are around 12% of the population. If you take away people in that group who are unlikely to kill (women, kids, the elderly), we're talking about roughly 4-5% of the population committing over half the murders. That's an issue that we should be able to discuss without worrying about accusations of racism.

Sentencing disparities are explained away by them beimg more likely to have prior convictions, which is the #1 consideration when time is handed down.

But the reason it won't be truly discussed with the racial element attached to it is because no one will be honest as to WHY crime and especially crime amongst black men in inner cities is so high.  Because that requires us to look at the institutions/policies/systems that were put in place to bring such levels of abject poverty and lack of opportunity that crime becomes palatable.

It's just easier to sit there on a high horse and say "black men are more violent than white men" without any context whatsover.

At least you have the guts to say it.  I would encourage you to do a modicum of research about prevailing stereotypes in the depiction of black people in the news and media, a topic which has decades worth of research for your consideration.  Or you can take a look at sentencing disparities between blacks and whites.  If you're still convinced that the white man can't get a fair shake in America then we can agree to disagree.

It's also especially rich that when the mass shooter is white, the media trips over itself to humanize the shooter, determine "why" he did what he did and have a whole slew of interviews with his neighbours about how he was a nice guy who kept to himself.

Meanwhile, if the shooter was brown or looked Muslim...

All this to say, Favre is a complete idiot. Whether the Jenn Sterger harrassment (while Favre's wife was fighting cancer) or this, the dude has a mental problem and knows he can get away with a lot just by his name. The irony in the welfare scandal he stole from is that Favre made over $150 million in his career.

He doesn't have a mental problem...he's just stupid.  He's a stupid athlete whose gifts throwing an oblong object prevented him from trying to become an educated member of society.  Not only that, his skill and fame gave him a sense of invincibility.

More gun control is not to be taken seriously when it’s championed by those that vote for politicians who don’t enforce existing laws.

What they advocate for is more gun control for mothers and fathers that want to protect their family.

We have a society in decline and we are awash in guns.

Gun violence is a symptom of the deeper cause.  But no one wants to dig deeper because that would require actual introspection as a society and we’re conditioned to fix everything with band-aids.

I just wanted to bump this because this was so well said.

No one wants to look into WHY gun culture is gun culture.  The 2nd Amendment has been around forever, but this raving need to own as many guns as possible (gun sales always go UP after media-publicized shootings) is a NEW thing.  In the 80s and 90s, no one was screaming from the rafters about banning guns, or stocking up on AR15s....what happened?!

How do we get back to "common sense" and guns?

About 5 months since Israeli citizens took up arms against Hamas terrrorists.

About 91 years ago, Hitler began disarming the population, which quickly targeted the Jews.

Cars kill millions of people a year, shall we take those away or are they needed and serve a useful purpose?

As someone who is not American, why is the only option on the table "take away ALL THE GUNS"?  Most people just want some sensible gun legislation that at least TRIES to keep guns out of the hands of people who shouldn't have them while allowing those who abide by the law the right to carry them as per the 2nd amendment.

There were gun laws before, most have been repealed.  I just don't get it.

I'm genuinely surprised that the NFL, a league that's driven to make as much money as it can, does not want MOAR FOOTBALL to sell advertising on.  Especially knowing they can charge even more as more eyeballs tune in for OT.

What is more likely? Mahomes retires early or plays til 40?

If he gets to 4-5 SB’s over the next 3 years, I could easily see him walking.

No chance...he is driven by the want to be the greatest of all time now.  If he can still go, he will play til he can set every record possible.  I can see him pulling a Tom and being a mercenary at the end for good teams once KC's window closes

    Watched a couple Diggs interviews.

Honestly... I think he's just sick of people asking about it. I think he believes he clearly squashed any thought of him wanting out of Buffalo when in Training Camp he spoke glowingly of the Bills and said he wanted to retire a Bill.

Even his interviews now he says he doesn't want to be traded. He says he and Josh are family and Josh has done so much for him.

The whole "where there's smoke there's fire" statement came in the middle of him riffing.

    We can't move Diggs.

    We won't move Diggs.

Diggs will continue to be evasive all offseason because that's just how he is.

At the end of the day, where is going to go, even if he wanted to be traded?  He wants to win a Super Bowl. Period.  He's made that abundantly clear that is his motivation.  What contender has the cap space to bring him on?
