  1. This was on 60 minutes last night. It deals with the number of players in the NFL from American Samoa. We need some American Samoan players on our Bills. Watch and see why: http://www.cbsnews.com/video/watch/?id=610...ain;cbsCarousel
  2. Here is what Peter King wrote this morning regarding the labor talks (we better enjoy next season): If the past few days, I've spoken to sources on both sides of the labor talks, and I've come to the conclusion that it'll be an upset if there isn't a work stoppage that either delays or cancels the 2011 season. Many of us in the media have speculated about the chances for a lockout and predicted one is coming, but the total lack of progress over the nut issue in 11 bargaining sessions tells me unless there's a sea-change by one side or the other, you'd better savor the 2010 season because it could be the last football we see for a while. At the core of the problem is ownership's demand for players to bear an equal part of the cost for stadium construction, debt service and upkeep -- and the players saying it's not their problem. In NFL Players Association executive director DeMaurice Smith's recent e-mail to player representatives, he startled player leaders by saying ownership wanted to cut player compensation by 18 percent per year in the new CBA. I thought the 18 percent number might be an exaggeration, a scare tactic to get players' attention. It's not. The owners, one management source said, have asked that the players' pool of revenue against which the salary cap is calculated be reduced by 18 percent. The players' response, a union source told me, is that they're not prepared to take a penny, or a percentage point, less. While Smith, in his letter to players, didn't dismiss the possibility of negotiating on the issue, he wrote that there has been no compelling information presented to players to justify such a major reduction in what players make. You wonder what 18 percent means. So did I. The management source said the owners want $1 billion a year credited to ownership and not subject to being part of the pie that the players divide. "There's obviously been an enormous shift from public financing of stadiums to private funding,'' the management source said. "Those costs are not recognized in the current CBA, and we feel that has to change.'' The league has beat this drum for several years. I wouldn't be surprised if there is some give-and-take in the owners' demands, because this is collective bargaining, but I would be surprised if the owners drop this as a demand altogether. They're just too dug-in on it. But from the players' perspective, it's got to be a tough sell to union leaders. Imagine Smith going into a union meeting at a team and telling the players that the average compensation to the men in this room is about $1.8 million this year in salary and bonus payments, and explaining to them in a time of bountiful success for the NFL, each of the players is going to have to take, on average, a $324,000 pay cut. The players will never go for that, absent the owners being able to prove they're losing money in a time of unparalleled wealth in the league. At some point, serious talks will start, with each side compromising. But I can't see the two sides bridging this chasm anytime soon.
  3. After Alabama won the national championship game, their fans were chanting SEC SEC. After Ole Miss beat OK State at the Cotton bowl their fans were chanting SEC SEC. After Alabama beat Florida in the SEC title game the Bama players were holding up an SEC sign and yelling SEC SEC. This has to be the most retarded trend in college football. They need to be educated on chanting for their own team and not the conference they play in. Trust me, when the Jets are playing this weekend, I'm not going to be chanting AFC EAST AFC EAST. Just like I wasn't chanting AFC AFC when the Patriots were in their dynasty run. If anyone on this board is an SEC fan or former player on an SEC team, please expain this insanity to me.
  4. Your post is dead on. Our team reminds me of the current Hollywood remakes of Friday the 13th, Halloween, and Nightmare on Elm Street. We go in as viewers knowing that the remake will not be better than the original, but we fork over the money for the ticket anyway. Our fault indeed.
  5. Scratch Haslett from the pool. He was just hired as the Redskins D coordinator.
  6. Haslett, Green, Fassell, Cottrell - will any of them get an interview from our team? If so, which one? Buddy sounded like he was interested in getting a head coach that had been an HC before. I'm just curious why none of the UFL coaches have been mentioned yet? This may have been a thread before- if so, I apologize. I'm just curious if any of these will get a serious look.
  7. Thanks for your post! Great reminder. Praying for them.
  8. Before we draft a QB or obtain one in free agency, check to see if they have a winning record. For example: Sam Bradford- won a Heisman and took the sooners to the national championship game. Has a better win/loss ratio. Colt McCoy-won more games than any QB in college football history and took the Longhorns to the national championship game Tim Tebow- won a Heisman and won two national championships. Has a better win/loss ratio. Jimmy Clausen- did not have a winning record at Notre Dame Jevan Snead- won more games than he lost at Ole Miss Mike Vick- won more games than he has lost (barely): (37-31-1) I could go on an on with more QB's, but I think you get the point. Again, check the win/loss ratio before considering a QB.
  9. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eXVoTWkWTkc I can't decide if LT was doing this to have fun or not. You decide.
  10. Exerpts from Tim Green's book from 1996 (still relevant today, in my opinion): The worst situation is when one one of the three entities: owner, GM, or coach, doesn't get along with the other and doesn't want to cooperate to give us the winning team that we want. Again, it is exlusively up to the owner to recognize this and fix it. This means one of two things. First, the owner must find a cook (a coach) and a butler (GM) who are not only willing, but competent to work together. Or the owner must make it clear from the start that one or the other will be a subordiante. It's all about direction and everyone in the organization working toward the same end and understanding what the final menu will be.
  11. I would be thrilled to see the Bills land McCoy or Shipley. Shipley reminds me of Wes Welker. I really admire their work ethic, their committment to winning, and their faith in Christ. Get her done BUDDY!
  12. http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dw...ey.3e7322c.html From the Dallas Morning News- Flutie wants Wade Phillips to win. Pay close attention to what the article says about Bills management.
  13. This is a huge what if, but WHAT IF we had beaten the Pats in week one. Would the season have turned out differently? Or would we still be sitting at 6-10? Would Jauron have been the head coach all year after that win? Would we have beaten Jacksonville, Tennessee, or CLEVELAND? I guess we'll never know. Quick, someone tell Marty McFly to get in the Delorean, go back in time, and tell Leodis to take a knee on the kickoff return against New England.
  14. http://www.fanschoice.com/ Rise up Bills nation and vote for Tasker and Reed at fanschoice.com
  15. I think the reason people on this board (like myself) keep using this quote so often is because it fits.
  16. Look at the past few years since Donahoe was dismissed. All ONE BILLS DRIVE has done since is promote from within (I guess Donahoe scarred them for life). That being the case, I'm fully expecting Fewell to be named head coach. Talk about promoting from within, it's still hard for me to believe Alex Van Pelt is our offensive coordinator. Heck, AVP might be our next head coach.
  17. Brandon as president/CEO and promoting a GM from within. I'd say Einstein was thinking of us when he made his famous "insanity quote".
  18. I hope I'm wrong, but the Bengals are looking like the team that will go all the way to Miami and play in the Super Bowl. The Bengals will beat the Bolts or Colts in the AFC championship game.

  20. This time the Bills will really increase fan support if they hire Dungy or Cowher. This would prove that the front office is competent and would show Bills fans that they can hire a coach with a proven track record!
  21. Apparently, Snead hasn't decided if he's going to enter the NFL draft this year. If he doesn't, I say we (Bills nation) take a serious look at Colt McCoy. I'm not a big Braford or Clausen fan.
  22. Snead will be around in the 2nd round. I say draft an Offensive lineman with the 1st pick and Snead in the 2nd round. Mallet isn't bad either. Is Mallet a senior this year?
  23. I'm tired of hearing this "bring Clausen" to Buffalo crap. Draft Jevan Snead from Ole Miss.
  24. Yesterday, I was trying to think about who would be on the all decade team for our Buffalo Bills. Here is my take: Brian Moorman, Fred Jackson, Lee Evans, Jairus Byrd, London Fletcher, Ruben Brown, Antoine Winfield, Eric Moulds, Travis Henry I'm having such a hard time with this list, I can't even think who I would put down as the best QB, TE, etc. for this decade. I guess it would be Drew Bledsoe at QB (ouch!). I look forward to seeing what you all come up with.
