  1. State wants to put:

    Aggravated Assault

    Manslaughter

    They will be argued tomorrow.

Trayvon fighting texts will not be entered.

Final closing statements likely to begin at 1PM tomorrow when jury returns to court room.

FYI - Florida has man mins for gun related crimes, commonly referred to as the 10-20-life law. The jury could acquit on murder 2 and manslaughter, but convict on agg assault with a firearm and GZ would face multiple decades in prison. The kicker is: the jury would not be instructed on this. They could return a guilty verdict on the least serious crime and he could get more prison time.

  2. Phone calls Timeline

GZ call to police dispatch non emergency

    7:09: 34 start

    7:11:45 out of car

    7:13:40 end

    TM last call Jeantel

    7:12:06 start

    7:15:43 end

    Neighbor's call 911

    7:16: 11 start

    7:16: 55 gunshot

I must have missed it, but how do we know the foundation that these time stamps are all based upon the same clock? Were the 911 call time stamps the ones generated by the police when the call came in on their clock, or were they based upon GZ's cell phone company records? Was TM's call to the ghettopotomus based on his cell phone time stamps, or hers? What is the standard clock used to verify that the timeline is 100% accurate? I missed the testimony of the cell phone guy. Did he establish all of this?

  3. Did TM have the legal right to be in the place he was at the time he was? Yes.

Did GZ have the legal right to be in the place he was at the time he was? Yes.

Did GZ have the legal right to ask TM what he was doing in the area? Yes.

Who instigated the physical assault? If the prosecution proves it was GZ, case closed. GZ's defense doesn't have to prove it was TM, just give reasonable doubt that it wasn't GZ. Seems like a tough burden for the State to overcome, to me. Not guilty.

    This ain't rocket science.

  4. GZ called the police not 911.

It is one and the same. I know. I was a 911 operator / police dispatcher in the same county that this occurred in about 13 years ago. The 911 call rings in on one line, non-emergency number rings a different one. Goes to the same place, talks to the same people. Police dispatchers / 911 operators are not "the police". They do not have the same authority as a police officer to tell you to do something and you legally have to obey it. They are civilian employees of the department with a very minute amount of authority.

  5. And did you catch the speeder you were after, officer?

Yes, and he got a ticket commensurate with the amount of fuel expended to catch him. :D

Nice. Many years ago my brother and I were driving through the Southwest, got passed by a guy doing probably 110-120. A few minutes later a cop comes by doing at least 140; we didn't see or hear him till he was already past. We caculated it would take about 8-10 minutes for the cop to catch him. Sure enough, 10 minutes later there they were together on the shoulder.

It certainly is hairy driving at that speed with other traffic. I reserve it for special occasions...

The good thing about the Charger vs the Crown Vic is that I would have to drive 131 (where the CV tops out) for a much longer time. With the Charger's acceleration, the time needed to travel at those speeds is much, much less. The bad thing is that it is a Dodge, and the [insert random car part] is liable to fall off at any point in time.

  6. In 2010, 10,228 people were killed in alcohol impaired driving crashes in the US. How many people die as a result of terrorist attacks? Yet, there is outrage over the killing of a handful of innocent people (justifiably so) - and minimal cry over the loss of a small city each year because of someone's conscious decision to drink to excess and then drive.

  7. Thanks Bill for posting. Yeh Kapernick doesn't even look like a rookie to me. Great tools & a heck of an arm. Ironically, I remember last Feb during the combine, Chis Brown (of Bills.com) was real high on this guy. He mentioned him a few times over the ensuing weeks leading into the draft. Wasn't he still on the board when we picked in round 2?

FYI - he's not a rookie. This is his second year.

  8. On a hot summer day in Florida, I cranked the A/C to full blast in my 92 Ford Mustang....I was greeted by a blast of cool refreshing air and a shower of ants. They had made a nest in the blower. I traded the car in for a new car. In Hindsight, a mighty fine decision......

  9. I mean its the Chiefs and Browns and they won because of Spiller. We'll see if Ryan Fitzmuddbutt can beat the Patriots with no offensive help at RB. He didn't throw it more than what 22 times in each game? Without a RB he's gonna have to now we get to see how crappy or decent he is... Please try not to make it seem like he won the last two games when its obvious he was just there nothing special.

The real question should be.. When we go out on Offense do you say to yourself " Please Fitz don't F**k it up or Fitz is gonna score?" Im a say 95% of people say the First not the latter... I should make that my first thread LOL...

Did you even watch the game? He was 22-35/208/3.

  10. My best guess is they whistled it dead, then the head ref asked the ref watching the goal line if the player to down it stepped into the EZ first and he said something like "um, yeah, someone did... I think it was him," which led them to call it a touchback. Horrible call. That's all I've got trying to make sense of it....

If you closely watch the ref that was right in front of the ball, you can see as he turns to watch Brad Smith right after he throws the beanbag on the ground. My guess is that he thought Ruvell Martin batted the ball (the reason he threw the beanbag) and Brad Smith tried to keep it out of the end zone. Brad doing his crazy goalline dance made the ref think that he had the ball. Thats all I got.
