  1. Well said. That should almost end the argument. The only argument I'll warrant for the opposing side is that you might feel it misrepresents the area, but people...you have a right to voice your opinion, and that kid spoke on behalf of all disgruntled fans,

all you sappy fans are welcome to raise 1,200 dollars and put a sign behind it saying: We're sorry Ralph and dick. All of Buffalo doesn't hate you.

You're probably not going to do that because you don't feel passionately enough about it, whereas that kid did. It's his right to put up the billboard, and its his and the people who have donated right on how to spend their money.

First off, I'd hire this kid in a heatbeat. He does more than talk like most on here.

Second, to those worried about Buffalo's reputation? BIG F'in deal. We've never HAD a good reputation outside WNY.

Third, this just goes to show how passionate SOME Buffalo Bills fans.

Fourth, those bitching about this money not going to a worthy cause? bull ****.

  2. If this is how we end up living our lives...full of paranoia and fear of an "impending attack"...then the terrorists have won.

^This coming from someone who has this statement in their signature:

"If the Bills move to Toronto, then I'm burning down the Skydome!"

Seriously folks - chill out. It was just a subtle reminder to be cognizant of your surroundings.

    GO BILLS

  3. Exactly. GREAT programming move to put games on Friday nights, where there would otherwise be "Best Of" repeats of that day's shows.

Had an interesting chat with Howard Simon a few years back, regarding which sport used to draw the most interest/requests/etc. at Empire. Bills? Nope. Sabres? Nope. High school football.

Don't believe me? Drop Buffalo News SE Steve Jones a line, and ask him which sports blogs get the most traffic. The first one to a million page views was Sabres Edge, which was also the first one they started. The second one to reach that number? Prep Talk, and preps guru Keith McShea gets absolutely overrun whenever he does a live chat on there.

In fact, I'd consider listening to GR tonight, if I didn't have my own game to do. Speaking of which, catch y'all later ...

Not dissing high school footbal; just so minor league to hear it on buffalo's "premiere" sports radio station at 8pm at night... sure, air high school sports - but on a sister station or something.

I guess you get spoiled living in a major market like Boston or NYC where sports programming revolves around professional sports with competent producers and hosts.

  4. demeaning tone and his attitude are terrible. Schopp just needs to go away.

    RIGHT ON "mikedeering"

WGR's counterparts at WEEI in Boston are VERY professional; pleasure to listen to and talk Patriots all the time... and the Patriots don't even air their games on that station - they use 98.5 the Sports Hub.

It's just so disappointing that sports talk in a market like this is monopolized by one station.

Even on Sunday - while driving to the stadium - it's like a CHORE for them not to talk about the Bills without an ATTITUDE.

  5. Is there nothing better to talk about on a Friday before a home game?

Schoop's all pissy about characters like Fireman Ed and Elvis and is sharing that he's not comfortable attending BILLS games - shocker? This loser shouldn't even be on the radio.

Seriously - I used to like Bulldog years ago but this station is a joke.

Last Friday night, I landed in Buffalo - excited to turn on sports talk - and WGR is playing the DEPEW high school football game? WHO the !@#$ cares about high school football? What a freaking joke.

The Bills need to team up and start there own sports station. I'm amazed Ralph hasn't done more to capitalize on this market. He may be old but he could learn a lesson from Bob Kraft... seriously.

    I.HATE.WGR

  6. UPDATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

You are all rite if you want it changed you have to call (315) 472-6800 it FOX Syr. The lady was a anti football fan and could give a ****. So call for football fans dont just call for bills fans....

I suggest deleting this thread and starting fresh with the correct information.

Nonetheless, I just called FOX Syracuse and the lady is a complete moron.

That was fun - the lady must be annoyed - I say bring it on.

    She's a B word.

  7. Folks, I'm just sharing my thoughts.

Agree or not - I have never heard the local media here in Boston; including some of the player interviews - share such concern about the team.

The media here never looks to Pburgh, Baltimore and Tennessee with such envy.

Altho they are OVERLY confident that with Brady - they win - but admit that their defense is weak - and if BRADY goes down - they're DONE.

  8. Truth is - the pats don't know WHAT they have. We're SUPPOSED to lose this game. They're supposed to win. But the truth is, no one knows whats going to happen - they have depleted their defense.

Tonight, on the news, local Boston media exposed the fact that these guys are scared. They THINK they know what they have based on their REPUTATION but they are not confident in the least. Nor is the local media.

Buffalo Defense - go out and BLITZ the !@#$ out of the PATS.

Buffalo Offense - go out and THROW the ball. They are preparing for the RUN.

This game could go anyway... but in all the years I’ve lived in Boston - there has never been so much uncertainly amongst these girls called the PATS.

WE have nothing to lose - bottom line - the pressure is on THEM - not us.

    Go Bills.

    Go Harp!

  9. We see the way the Sabres have virtually "bought" WGR as their own sports station and propoganda machine and how well it has worked. Buffalo now follows NHL like a religion compared to the rest of the country.

The Bills should do similar with an AM radio station and claim it as The Bills station and just as the sabres do make sure their players and scouts and GM's are available for interviews and shows etccc. WGR would quickly see that their bull sh-- claim that this is an NHL town rather than Bills/NFL town is not true.

The Sabres get both the payments from WGR for broadcast rights and the propoganda machine. The Bills from 97 Rock only get the broadcast rights - all the other hours thru the week are just music etccc...

Here in Boston, 98.5 The Sports Hub is a new FM station that now covers and airs all Patriot and Bruins games. It's pretty good. They also talk Red Sox and Celtics; even though they don't host their games.

Buffalo does need competition to WGR ala (ESPN BUFFALO or CBS SPORTS BUFFALO) but it doesn't have to rest on AM stations only.

BTW, Bostonians still listen to AM big time (850 sports and 1030 news).

  10. At some point, I hope we do have trouble selling tickets as it may wake up the owner and FO to take some positive actions to once again make this a winning franchise. Right now, a little sparkle (T.O) is all that is required for the fans to line up.

Be careful what you wish for...

In Semcken's eyes, Jacksonville and Buffalo are terrible markets for the NFL, and the other franchises are unable or unwilling to maintain stadiums up to current league standards. So they're fair game.
