Are the Rams Beane's new Panthers?
-
I can deal with the team signing guys I dont like based strictly on their on-field play. It's the off-field scumbags that are tough to get past.
-
Not sure all those numbers are correct. Anyways, how about.... How many years into their tenure were each win? Andy Reid 1 in 6yrs, 2 in 10yrs Mike Tomlin 1 in 2yrs McVay 1 in 4yrs Pederson 1 in 2 yrs Harbaugh 1 in 4 yrs Carroll 1 in 3 yrs Based on those numbers, he's overdue. And 2021 was the sweet spot.

How the F I miss that one! Good one.

Bills sign DT Linval Joseph---Elam to IR
DrDawkinstein replied to Process's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yes, but sometimes things dont always work out as planned. And Im not sure anyone would have ever made the argument that Ford was better than Joseph. But only one was willing to start playing in July -
Personally, I think it would be more fair to reduce it to the coaches with Super Bowl victories, since that is what we are talking about here: getting over the hump. Which still gives us 6, but swaps Pederson in for Shanny: Andy Reid Mike Tomlin Sean McVay Pederson John Harbaugh Pete Carroll All of them have been to the promised land, which is what we are after.

Out of Douglas or Joseph, if I had to bet on one to play this week, it would be Joseph. Bonus if we can get both on the field. -
Funny, and I wouldnt put it past Davis, but the money says unlikely.

"Takes two to tango" Sounds like Joseph has found his niche and a pretty sweet gig as a guy who gets signed in November, gets to skip camp and early season BS, only play 10 games, and still get paid millions of dollars. These guys probably werent champing at the bit to sign anywhere until they found a team that really needed them. -

Yeah, I'd rather have Floyd in there right now than Von. -

Other teams arent trying to poach Klein, Mancz, Fournette etc because they know those players will choose to stay where they already chose to sign as a FA. Plus, I'd bet there are a lot more feeler conversations happening than we ever know about. That is my and Mango's point. Kinda chicken or the egg at this point. -

It doesnt happen because teams dont try to poach guys they know will choose to stay. Not because players dont choose to stay. -

Most of the time they dont need to because it's worked out ahead of time before the new team "makes it official". They dont want to try to pluck someone just to get denied and they get egg on their face. So we never hear about the players that choose to stay. But it's pretty well assumed with these vets that get signed to the PS temporarily that they arent going anywhere else, or else they would have before. edit: best example I could find with some quick googling was Deshawn Williams of the Bengals in 2016. But even that wasnt found out until after the season when talking to the player. https://www.cincinnati.com/story/sports/nfl/bengals/2016/05/11/cincinnati-bengals-deshawn-williams-2016-defensive-line/84227460/ -

I'm just quoting this so it ends up on the next page as well. Great recap. -
I believe we have two 6th round picks right now. One of the Rams', and the pick from the Texans. IIRC we traded our own 6th, and the other Rams' 6th in other deals. But I'm trying to dig that up now. I'm almost positive we do NOT have four 6th round picks. (But would be happy to be wrong) edit: well hot dang it looks like I was wrong and we DO have FOUR 6th round picks. According to the Buffalo News on Tuesday, which I will trust as an updated source. https://buffalonews.com/sports/professional/nfl/bills/after-rasul-douglas-acquisition-here-are-bills-scheduled-picks-for-2024-nfl-draft/article_fc713204-7825-11ee-a8a5-63cfdc09fe15.html First round: Own. Second round: Own. Fourth round: Own. Fifth round: Own. Fifth round: From Green Bay. Sixth round: Own. Sixth round: From Los Angeles Rams, or from Denver via Rams. Sixth round: From Houston. Sixth round: From Dallas via Houston. Seventh round: Own Strange enough, the 49ers used one of their 3rd round comp picks to trade for Young. "The 49ers are projected to get a compensatory third-round pick for offensive tackle Mike McGlinchey and another compensatory third-round pick for the losses of Ran Carthon and Demeco Ryans, with one of those third-rounders being sent to Washington for Young." https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/38788085/sources-commanders-agree-trade-chase-young-49ers

Raiders fired HC Josh McDaniels and GM Dave Ziegler.

Looks like there might be more to it as well. Raiders are in absolute shambles. -

apparently football is rocket science for QB Josh Dobbs
DrDawkinstein replied to stuvian's topic in The Stadium Wall
On one hand, Josh Dobbs has a degree in Aerospace Engineering. On the other hand, it's from the University of Tennessee. -
It was 55-60 last night down here for trick or treating and I definitely had my winter hat and coat on for it. 🤣
-
No thanks, but this does remind me of the LB we signed from the Texans who then retired once Bernard was named starter. Wonder if he's still interested....
-
Need to have a clip of Josh telling him "ok, maybe you dont ***** suck anymore"
-
For those keeping track: Rasul Douglas did play for the Panthers in 2020, keeping Beane's Carolina pipeline intact. The real answer to @Richard Noggin's question is: That will be some other team's problem because no way does White survive June 1st cuts.
-
Agreed he was done the moment he got hit with that injury. Bummer. It still likely is job 1 even with this addition. I dont see any needs on Offense as glaring as the needs at CB and DT on Defense.
-
He can only show if he's used like that again. Which mostly came from Knox being out and Gabe playing a WR/TE hybrid role instead of Dorsey just sending him deep for low percentage balls all the time. So Dorsey needs to utilize him and his skills instead of just wasting him. I'm confident there is enough talent on this Offense to give Josh a good #2 option. Even if that is "#2 by committee" with Kincaid, Davis, and Shakir. And I agree, Kincaid should and will take over the #2 spot soon enough.
