  1. wheat or barley?
  2. i wish i shared your 'optimism', such that it is. god i hope youre right
  3. i didnt say they would necessarily succeed with impeachment. but if he continues in this grossly reckless manner i expect they may try just to create political space away from him and hopefully get him to see he cant continue on this tack. with all his conflicts of interest it wouldnt be hard to gin something up, and lord knows the republicans are absolute masters at ginning things up i dont keep up with how many seats are available so i will take your word on that. but this feels like an entirely wrong direction to take the country and the world in and i fully expect its going to blow up in his face in dramatic fashion. even republicans wont just sit around and let him continue to do damage to our interests in this way what a fkd up mess our politics are. holy hell. if we elected hillary we would have a further lurch left into crazy pc land. we elected this idiot and got pretty much exactly what i would have expected. it so thoroughly disheartening and embarrassing. its extremely hard to watch
  4. i dont know if he qualifies as mentally ill, but i like how my dad describes him: man-child a filthy rich full grown man who acts and thinks like a child after all weve seen from the donald over the decades, is anyone really surprised? being totally serious here - my over/under on when impeachment proceedings start is ten months. and it will be republicans leading the charge. they are facing a bloodbath of enormous proportions in two years, they could lose almost every seat up for grabs. they better figure out if they can rein in this loosest of all canons or they will be back to being dominated in the next cycle
  5. well i want to be careful with my mental ignore feature. i dont want to ignore valid questions and i want to address misperceptions like this. but this one was pretty ridiculous. i hope these guys are more careful in the future and actually read what i/we write instead of just assuming the worst
  6. ... and this reaction isnt just a few black folks. this is a pretty widespread phenomenon. i probably have literally a hundred links to stories like this ive saved over the years. i think this one is the most dramatic example: Wyatt Cenac says Jon Stewart told him to “!@#$ off” over concerns about Herman Cain impression ... as related in this week’s episode of WTF With Marc Maron, in which former Daily Show writer and correspondent Wyatt Cenac discussed the events that lead to his departure from the show. The center of the discussion—during which Cenac talked about his struggles with his family and career, and the life-saving effects of being hired by the show—hinged on an impression of African-American presidential candidate Herman Cain that Stewart deployed in 2011, which Cenac said made him “cringe” when he heard it. (Cenac was working on a field piece when the segment containing the impression made its way through the writers’ room.) When Fox News accused Stewart of racism as part of the ongoing feud between the two organizations, he and the Daily Show writers began constructing a response piece that Cenac—the only black writer on the show’s staff—found unnecessarily defensive. When he expressed those concerns, first through e-mail, and then multiple times in the writers’ room, eventually comparing the impression to the Amos & Andy character Kingfish, Stewart exploded, yelling, “!@#$ off, I’m done with you,” repeatedly, and storming away. http://www.avclub.com/article/wyatt-cenac-says-jon-stewart-told-him-!@#$-over-co-222822 i couldnt find my original link for this story so im not sure its in this specific video (i didnt watch this whole one), but the gist of the matter is that stewart did a piece where he was openly mocking both white people and jews (hes jewish) including a very stereotypical redneck accent just seconds before he did the stereotypical black accent for herman cain mr. cenac did what a lot of black folks do now, he ONLY heard the stereotypical black voice and didnt even notice the other stereotypes that were used for comedic effect here. either that or he just tuned them out. the point is that stewart was OBVIOUSLY making fun of EVERYBODY on this topic, all races, but mr cenac was ONLY offended by the black voice, as if blacks had to have special rules that apply to nobody else this is a huge problem in the american race relationship right now. far too many of our black brothers and sisters want to force a standard that ONLY THEY get preferential treatment when it comes to making stereotypical observations about race. in one breath they will claim they dont want to be singled out bc they are black, but then turn right around and do what this brother did in demanding that exact preferential treatment its a horrible blindness that inflicts a great many blacks and enabling whites/other races right now. we simply cannot have these kinds of 'special rules' that apply to blacks and only blacks. it destroys the inter-race relationship and creates exactly the kind of mass dysfunction that got someone like trump elected bc it creates a race war from something that has no substance i love our blackness dearly but im pretty positive i would have told this brother to f*** off too um mcflys, cant you see what i mean by terrific here? i even said it point blank, did you stop at that one sentence its a terrific article bc it shows the tremendous bias and dysfunction we have in far too much of our blackness. it is 'terrific' in a negative sense, its a perfect example of what we should NOT be doing holy hell. if i have to explain super simple stuff like this we are going to waste A LOT of time. please try your best not to jump to wild conclusions like that
  7. terrific article. pretty much explains exactly the kinds of things im talking about ive talked about this many many times with my black associates. many of them see this for what it is, a type of person that simply cant let things go and keeps adding more injury to themselves in the process many blacks have talked themselves into believing that whites are racist by default, so of course they will see racism EVERYWHERE, even when it does not exist i feel really bad for this brother. but he is creating his own hell. hes constantly on the lookout for any tiny thing that could remotely be interpreted as racist, and then goes ballistic in his mind when he finds one. which hes going to do on a virtually constant basis in his life if you think about it, he is manifesting the same general pattern of racism that we all rightfully condemned from whiteness. hes projecting his own bias of inferiority in the 'white system' and sees black folks as somehow naturally above that fray. its devastating to him, but hes mostly creating it in his own mind i wish i could get through to ppl like him but it is super super tough
  8. this is so thoroughly heartbreaking. but is anybody surprised? whiteness was so brutally unjust at that time, facing mounting pressure to change but desperately trying to turn back the clock and retain white dominance no matter what and think about this, it was 1955! idk about you but when i think of white racial brutality its easy to think of it like it happened hundreds of years ago. but the last legal lynching of a black man happened in 1946 or something ridiculously recent like that. how shocking that less that one persons lifetime ago we had these kinds of grossly unjust things still happening equally disgusting is how so much of blackness and enabling whiteness tries to connect the trayvon martin tragedy to this one. trayvon martin was a classic gangstaholic hoodlum in training. he certainly didnt deserve to die for his mistakes, but it was his own reliance on gangsta standards of the proactive use of extreme violence that got him killed. zimmerman was definitely an !@#$, but it was trayvon that decided to backtrack AWAY from the safety of his own home to go back toward someone who he thought was disrespecting him. its was the bad standards of blackness that i just talked about that got that classic teenage thug killed. connecting that incident to emmitt till is culturally criminal
  9. ty i was very much hoping that was exactly the case. but ime it is extremely rare to be able to see someone be able to make that comment and have it mean what you said, almost always it is an indirect accusation of racism and bias. so i apologize for getting it wrong with you and i am relieved to hear you say that we are naturally going to have different standards regarding race bc we have different cultural experiences in each race and standards evolve from those. as we examine these differences and become more familiar with them, we can take the good and merge it into the general collective, while simultaneously eliminating the bad. of course to do that we need to have a healthy approach to how we process race issues, which generally certainly is NOT the case currently in america. thats one of the things im trying to do with my work on this topic for example, when i was growing up deep in the heart of redneck crackerland we hardly NEVER told each other we loved our own family members. there was also very limited connections with our extended family (ie. cousins and uncles, at least not like it is now). and we had hardly no physical affection in the form of spontaneous hugs. it was like growing up in a world full of hank hill families we see from the brutal oppression that blackness was forced to endure a phenomenon that extended 'family' to mean anyone that enters our social circle and provides emotional support. i have noticed over the years that black families are very quick to accept extended family members into their home, very often to try to escape the gross dysfunction of crime, drug, and physical abuse in the inner cities. a lot of times these arent even actual blood relatives, just someone they grew up with and want to help out of a tough spot. these individuals become true family, as we can see from the very heartwarming phrase invented by our blackness: "brothers from another mother." so yes, absolutely, we SHOULD be identifying these different standards and adopting them to our own when they are productive. this is the very heart of the benefit of celebrating cultural/race differences. this 'brothers/mothers' phrase has been almost magical in its ability the transform much of the american psyche when it comes to family relationships. now millions of whites routinely use this phrase and sincerely act upon it to show love to non-blood 'family'. its awesome, and we would not have that now had we not learned some crucial lessons from the adaptations blacks were forced to create after emerging from the brutal oppression of white dominance conversely, we have some bad standards in our blackness that we need to identify and work to eliminate. clearly, the routine use of violence is a big one. the reluctance of blackness to admit and acknowledge their own widespread racist bias against whites is another. the tendency for far too many black fathers to be grossly irresponsible with their child rearing responsibilities is another. we saw ray rice and adrian peterson get into all kinds of trouble due to negative black cultural standards that were never questioned until they blew up in our faces. there are many many other examples we certainly could do this duo analysis as well for whiteness and any other racial cultures. but right now our most dysfuncitonal one is in our blackness, which is why we most need to focus on that topic to try to avoid ending up again where we do time after time - with severe racial tension and dysharmony
  10. if you want to be treated respectfully then stop attacking me with hyper stupid statements like this you had absolutely nothing to base that on. it was a preposterous statement you made up in your own head that had absolutely nothing to do with me. you projected that from your own mind and then attempted to hold it against me. of course i was disgusted with such an attempt to paint me as completely opposite as what i actually am, what my entire track record shows, and im not going to just let you or anyone else get away with such utterly unfair and inaccurate portrays of myself this is the last time im responding to you until you change your posture toward me and stop trying to put things into my mouth please explain. you cannot possibly be referring to me with that post. im hoping you are trying to say something i have missed why is it that ppl always zoom right by all the wonderful things i say, pick out one phrase that can be twisted to mean something bad, then put all their attention on that bad misinterpretation that they themselves made and then try to attribute to me? its insane we have boatloads of good and bad standards that would could define throughout history on both the white and black sides. good white: creating a society of peace and freedom. bad white: excluding blacks from much of that early history. good black: brothers from another mother. bad black: the same kinds of special rules favoring and coddling blacks that you yourself described in your own post! so i ask you again, please tell me that you werent referring to me with that statement
  11. boy ive been beating that drum for many decades al sharpton and tawana brawley. karl rowan shooting a white kid with an illegal pistol. david howard and the word "niggardly". cynthia mckinney attacking capitol building security guards. the list goes on and on its only got much much worse since then. we throw out accusations of racism worse than joseph mccarthy threw out accusations of treason. and todays political correctness insists that no resistance be offered to the accusation lest you be considered even MORE of a racist we have cheapened the word racism so badly that it has literally lost its meaning. racism is supposed to mean when you hate someone for no good reason, in this case the color of their skin. but stop and think what the actual working definition of racism is now in the minds of most americans: any time a white person makes any comment about a non-white person that isnt complimentary that is a completely unworkable and actually highly destructive standard that not only doesnt do any good, it actively damages our chances to fix the problems we are trying to correct by creating a whole series of new and serious problems i wholeheartedly agree, the accusation of racism should be an absolute last resort bc the damage done to all of us via false accusations is just as bad as the real racism we are trying to address somewhat true but there are complications first, race indeed is a real and valuable designation. each race has evolved strengths and weaknesses and there is great value in analyzing those differentiations and adjusting our standards appropriately. our lives are enriched if we can process these differences in a healthy manner and learn to celebrate them for the good they bring the problem is we dont do that uniformly. take for instance our violent crime reporting. if the suspect is white and assaults a black person the race of the participants is literally included in the headline. if the race of the suspect is black and they attack a white person that information is omitted. we can say the same thing about crimes involving cops. this has set up a horrible double standard that actually programs our population to think in messed up terms about race right from the start. the point is we need to be consistent or we will be creating the same problem we are allegedly addressing specifying race is only divisive bc we are screwing up the whole thing so badly we cant even get the benefit of leveraging the various unique cultural elements properly. we shouldnt cede that ground to the extremist mindsets simply bc they are screwing it up so badly mostly agree the only real use for that information now is analysis and there are very few other ways to gather it that easily in large quantities but the potential for abuse is too great. i wouldnt mind seeing it mostly disappear. but its another example that if we werent screwing this whole thing up so badly we wouldnt have a problem with this practice either
  12. ty for your thoughtful reply. i wish we could get all participants in this hyper challenging topic to frame their comments this reasonably and this well this is a very uniquely difficult subject to tackle. its like trying to put out a large scale fire with a thousand leaking propane pipes all over the place. if you stop to create a comprehensive plan the town will burn and you end up writing a book that nobody reads. so you are forced to address individual fires all of the place with no foundation of understanding or plan to build off of. so you have no choice but to try to put out fires and build a foundation at the same time
  13. hahahahhahahahahhaaaaaaaaaaaa ok. you have NO idea what you are talking about. you even had the nerve to bring out the ultra popular yet almost completely useless talking point of white privilege. holy cow not that it matters bc you will never answer this but exactly how many MLK books have you read? how many black churches have you visited? how many black folks have you volunteered to help on you own free time? how many stop the violence rallies have you attended? how many black women have you married? dear lord, why do you saddle me with ppl like this? huge filter points earned wow. ppl just log on and type any dumbass thing they want its amazing after a lifetime full of accomplishments loving, partnering with, and marrying black ppl you could possibly form a sentence that includes an accusation that i dont consider black folks as fellow ppl or whatever crap you regurgitated you know i have to apologize to any posters that want to do constructive valuable work here. i invented the mental ignore feature for trolls with nothing to add like these - and then i went and didnt use my own feature. im sorry i wasted everybodys time feeding these destructive elements and im going back to just letting them say any dumbass thing they want with no interference from me im waiting for keepthefaith to return with some of his/her own observations before continuing in order to hopefully address several things at once and avoid the issue fatigue that ppl get on this topic if you throw too many things at once at them. but if we dont hear from him soon i will probably continue tomorrow and answer some of these questions as i have a very important medical procedure coming up on tuesday and i might not feel up to responding for a bit after that
  14. just make sure to use the word 'uppity' a lot in your lobbying efforts. works every time
  15. theres always ppl like you and tom that come out to throw stones on this important topic. ppl are easily threatened when you start questioning the template theyve bought into. just go read what ppl said about MLK at the time, it was brutal beyond comprehension. thats you guys now of course im not nearly him. but i am a disciple of his. and i am proud of the important work i do. if i can keep you from mobbing up and shouting me down you stand a chance to learn something vital that will change this dynamic that has gone bad ... again but if you dont like it how about you band together with your other veteran posters and lobby to get me banned? that would sure teach me a lesson
  16. i try to present myself entirely at face value with no pretexts, so i would appreciate it if you tried to take me that way i openly admitted im no expert on this subject and asked for guidance on the rules and laws. if for whatever reason we are allowing non-citizens to vote then they are not illegal votes. if they are voting in elections that they are not supposed to then they are indeed illegal votes. and ive already stated i would prefer that no non-citizens ever vote, but its not important enough to me to spend energy taking a big stand on. i will defer to the rest of the electorate and their legislature on it we need to stop splitting hairs and put the cards on the table. i just dont see how its possible anywhere near 3.5M 'illegal' votes were cast. it seems like a deflection that is ridiculous to even talk about. if the evidence ever emerges that validates that claim i will issue a retraction
  17. It's a long line so be prepared to wait
  18. it is? thats my position? news to me
  19. you know being snarky is a shtick, it doesnt win debates. logic and reason does earning points my friend
  20. oh beleed me, im wrong a lot. and i dont mind admitting it. actually i already have when i stated i was hyperbolic in stating hillary was the most qualified ever while temporarily forgetting such mega qualified folks as poppy and colin were in the convo but im probably not going to be wrong much about race issues. ive been doing this a loooooong time and ive worked out a great many kinks in the material. you are always welcome to poke holes, and i will plant a slobbery one on your cheek (face) if you can favor me with a revelation on that topic. but you will be hard pressed to find a legitimate cranny in that hardened logic and reason and when i refuse to respond its not bc i dont have enough to talk about. lord knows, right? its bc the person im not responding to is being unreasonable and i know its a waste of time. i cant fix everybody, im going to work with the ppl that are workable hey ill take quack at this point in many circles im automatically branded a racist just for having the nerve to suggest blacks could be something other than a universal victim. so quack is an improvement woo hoo, progress!!
  21. well if thats what we are talking about then fine. if someone is eligible to vote in a local/state but not federal then yeah that would be illegal once we get the semantics down id like to see if we have any chance approaching that 3.5 mil mark. ive heard cases on both sides, so far none of them are compelling. but we'll see
  22. a fair point ive been doing this a long time so i think i know how to handle that danger. but i will keep your advice in mind the problem is im trying to do two things at the same time: unravel old entrenched bias and lay a new foundation if you try to skip right to the end the old bias will lay in wait and sabotage you in the end. then you have to try to start over, but by then the feeding frenzy has started and the mobbing can overwhelm. such to your point so you really have no choice but to try to tackle them separately ... and at the same time. its tough
  23. time my padawan rest assured you are actually asking good questions. i have mature material that covers all of that so kudos on finding parts of the right path so far lets see if we can draw out a few more of these oozing sores so that maybe we can address several at once. ppl can only take so much, we have to let them come to it a little on their own first plus even im tired from the effort. i need a little break myself lmao! who says we would let you MC? drunk on sawdust whiskey and fondling your garter belted sheep girlfriend. ive been through that exercise with half my family. it never goes well
  24. that whole exchange there made me very sad at the time seems like us humans can never get this race thing right. especially us american humans we take a very good thing, like showing love and respect for all our brothers and sisters, and we turn it into a war. a simple idea that should have a simple implementation, and we make it rocket surgery at least we are showing signs of progress on this one. hyper-liberal over-corrections are waning. we are realizing that trigger warnings and safe spaces are for emotionally crippled human beings the tough work starts with strong and courageous ppl who love their brothers and sisters enough to talk genuinely about everything under the sun regardless of how difficult it is. and then hug each other sincerely when they are finished talking so do like that
