Yeah, thats true. However, who I'm annoyed at for it is ESPN, who takes it way, way more overboard then anyone else. I dunno, in all the NO games I've watched they haven't exactly been stacking the box vs Bush.
-
Whats unbelievable is your assertion that you know ESPN so well that what I saw didn't actually take place. This means that you have either seen, read, and heard everything ESPN has said for the past year, or you are assuming you know everything that ESPN has to say about a specific topic or player.
-
Sure, you know, since you were watching ESPN 24/7 365 for the past year. After all, its not possible that I watched it at some point when you didn't
-
Because its just so easy to find links of frickin ESPN TV Shows on the internet. I'm not going to waste my time doing that.

true enough -
Really? Because I (and many others I'd think) would take it in the context that since its the draft, and they're talking bout the future, he'll be the best running back to ever touch the football.

You're expecting the media to rebuke partisan attacks? Dude, thats exactly what the media lops up. The other party does all the original investigative reporting, and then the side thats being attacked offers a rebuke. The mainstream media gets to present both sides of the story in this issue, without incurring ANY expensive investigative journalism costs. This was on Kerry to rebuke the attacks, and he failed, big time. Why, exactly, would the mainstream media do something to help the Democrats win? Especially with a Republican in the presidency and in the congress? The Government controls the flow of information, and any publication attempting to help the other side win risks being completely cutoff from an administration. But thats just the information control side of the story. The whole purpose of the media is to build an audience which they can sell to advertisers. Allowing them to build the best audience would be to allow for both sides to feel that they are being represented. In other words, if they do help Democrats win, they lose a lot of potential advertising money. Also, you have to look at their advertisers effects on whats going on. Do you think most of the companies that advertise in the NY Times prefer Democrats in office? How about the other "liberal" media that is out there?

I'm not creative to come up with another name damnit! Well, Brewfire would be humerous, but it shares the same flaw.

Yeah, it does work, don't get me wrong. Its just, well, rather annoying that they try to claim patriotism as a reason for buying a car. To most people I've talked to its almost insulting. Yeah, thats gonna exist in any large organization though. People are there for different reasons. -

Not talking about size here, talking about what makes me not a fin woman! -
Really? How about showing whats happening in other games rather then showing Bush carrying the ball for a 2 yard loss? How about not labeling Bush the "best running back ever" before he's had a chance to play in the NFL? ESPN is over hyping people in an attempt to create story lines for games, and its sickening. I'm getting to the point where I can't watch MNF anymore because of their crap. Of course, Maroney hasn't been touted as the second coming of Jesus, and has been somewhat more of a surprise. Thats the whole "expectations" thing that Dibs was talking about.
-
Correct. The media has hyped him as the second coming. He certainly has made New Orleans better, I can agree with everyone in this thread here. His mere threat on offense is strong, and he's excellent as a WR. I'd love to see him as a WR, I think he could prove to be dominant in that position. I also think he's a pretty good RB, but not great. One of the things I would point to is when Bush made a 2-3 yard run which resulted in a loss. ESPN showed the replay of the cut he made about 10 times and were going on and on about it as if he's the only player in the league that could have made a cut in the backfield for someone to miss. This is more of a comment on the horrific "sports reporting" of ESPN rather then Reggie Bush being the second coming of anything. I labeled my open letter to ESPN as "Reggie Bush", because thats my #1 example of their stupidity.

But I've used it since AOL 95

Okay, and? How does this change them using the whole "patriotic" crap to sell cars? rofl. Even I realize that the military is a great place to go if you need to turn your life around and there aren't many other options available to you. This doesn't make me have a disdain for those who are currently serving and who have served. Hell, my best friend at UT decided to join the Navy even though he was one semester away from graduating because he felt it was the best thing for him. Man, I hate him so !@#$ing much! I think he is using patriotism to validate his shortcomings! Jesus people, if you drop out of college and don't have many skills, the military is a great place to go because they have the patience to develop people and teach them things to be successful in life, more so then other places. It is, therefore, a very appealing place to go for people who have few other options. Thats why he ran for the Presidency of the United States. Its Brilliant! Lead the country that you hate the most! -

Dear ESPN, This is why you don't hype players to be superstars in the NFL before they get to the NFL. He isn't the "best running back" ever yet, even though you wanted and wanted and wanted him to be. Please realize that unlike the rest of the media, the sports media doesn't have nearly the effect on how professionals act. At least hype the players that have already proven to have done something in the pro leagues, rather then touting rookies as the best ever. Sincerely, BlueFire

Yeah, thats it. First you the "left" as hating Patriotism, then you claim the "left" as being defensive of a perceived lack of Patriotism. The whole fked up thing about the name is the "Listen to this radio station because you're a patriot!" Emotional appeal in advertising which is ridiculous, and thats my whole problem with the name. Air America was a stupid name too. My whole point about the "left" and patriotism which you managed to botch was that "liberals don't hate those words". Somehow you dragged the radio station back into that point, when I didn't mention it in relation to that point. I merely said that the station has you brainwashed. Where does he say that its the Republican's fault that he botched a joke? I love the attempt to politicize a botched joke when that party's President is the king of botched sentences. He's simply saying that he's getting unnecessary criticism in an attempt to politicize the issue, and I'd agree with him. However, he's an idiot, cause he's also attempting to politicize the politicizing, and just comes off looking like a hypocrite. I'm specifically talking about these sentences here: Politics as usual folks. -

Actually, there is some truth to both. Dealers do play the "you think that was awesome? Wait till you try this ____________" card.
