Gotta disagree. The pre-SB teams were a lot more talented. And the bickering part was way overblown, IMO. Thuman got credit for starting a lot of it by his comment on "the QB," but I don't think any of that stuff ever affected how he, Kelly or any of the other guys played on the field together.

Well, at least we agree on something! The FA signings are a bit different, since these guys were already established players, IMO. I doubt TD would have been scouting at John Carol for a player like LF. And the players you cited were all taken in rounds 1-3 with the exception of McGee. That's not "hidden gem" country....

That's my opinion of his play as well. Maybe a full off-season of weight training would help with the push, however... And I would like to see Anderson out of here...he can't move worth a damn.

As a coach, ML evaluated players every day. He did it on the field, not by reading a scouting report. That's 40 years of experience at all levels of competition. He's chosen guys with measurables (speed, size, college rep, and even "buzz" like WM), but not intangibles like character and will to win. And where were the small school gems the Bills used to find? TD liked guys from big name college programs and didn't seem interested in looking too far below that level for the London Fletcher-type of guys who live to play NFL football. IMO, TD was a draft wonk, not unlike Mel Kiper...he could paint you a pretty picture of a guy based on a scouting report, but he never could get to the heart of what makes one player a winner over another (hint: it's more than size and speed). Polian can spot that quality (as well as Belichick)...I tend to think ML will be better than average at it as well.

Maybe. But Marv has a great way of getting these kind of "me-me" guys to buy into what he's selling. It will be interesting to watch their relationship develop.

Based on the performance of 80% of the other GMs in the league today, how sharp would you say they are? (and no, I'm not just thinking of Matt Millen!). The same way you always have...look at film, interview the player intensely to get a feel for how they're wired, and then talk to all your contacts around the league to get other opinions. The more I think about it, I believe ML's coaching experience will help him a great deal in evaluating players. He knows what game day temperament is all about and won't just focus on the measurables, which seems to have been TDs emphasis having never played or coached the game.

RW just want's to be informed of what's happening, IMO, rather than reading about it in the newspaper. I believe Ralph truly loves the game and his team, and hated being treated like a passive investor by TD. Marv will keep him in the loop and make him feel like he's important, which it sounds like TD never did. RW can also be more involved on the business side, where Marv says he's not concentrating.

How many HC's have been fired in the past week? This has to be one of the biggest years in recent memory for coaching staff turnover. A lot of guys will be scrambling for a job before the music stops, so if the Bills can act quickly, they should be able to land some decent coaches.

Having the best pressure QB in 20 years doesn't hurt though....
