I love this move.  LOVE it.

First off, Lynch is only 24.  He has only played 5 games in two years.  He had a great first game his rookie season, then the wheels came off second game vs. a great Falcons D where he was sacked six times.

Last season, he was sacked 9 times in two games.  That's 15 sacks in 3 of his 5 starts.  Denver's OLine isn't anything to write home about either.

First off, he is 6'7 and 244 (Allen is 6'5, 237)  Both are athletic for big men and can move their feet.

    Both have strong arms.

Watching the preseason game vs Cardinals last week, you can definitely tell this guy has lost his mechanics.   With Lynch, the video I attached you can tell he is very jumpy in the pocket.  There were many throws where he never really set his feet, nor his body angle.  He was just throwing it to get rid of it.  Secondly, he would look downfield for a second or two then just dump it off to the back.  His feet again on most of these throws were not set.

But you'll notice on this video he made some pretty amazing throws.  One at the 1:50 mark where Lynch scrambled left and against his body looped the ball to the WR.  IT was an impressive throw that he made happen with his athleticism.  He made some other pretty nice throws as well.  You can also tell he is very athletic escaping the pocket and moves well on his feet.  His ability to move out of the pocket on a few plays reminds me a bit of Allen.

The problem with Lynch was he was thrust into action his first season and he wasn't ready.  His very first game his rookie year he had a 94.1 QB rating.  He came off the rails against a good Falcons team.  I'm sure the pressure of being the first pick and being viewed as the savior of the Broncos weighed on his since they had no one else on the roster who could play while he sat and learned.  The more they lost with the other QB's, the more the pressure was on him to be ready.  He was just never able to grow into the position naturally.

That's why Peterman is starting for Buffalo.  Because McD knows Allen isn't ready.  Why rush him and create a situation where he learns bad habits by getting thrown to the wolves ALA Lynch.

As for Lynch, this is a fresh start for him where he isn't expected to come in and be the savior of a franchise.    He can come in and work with Daboll, who I'm sure will help him with his foot work similar to how they helped Allen.  He can just sit and learn, which he couldn't do in Denver.

In this league, you can never have enough QB's.  McCarron is an example of this. Just for having him on our team we got a 5th round pick.

If Buffalo can turn Lynch around and get him to drop some of his bad habits this might be a steal of a player.

If not, no harm no foul cutting a 3rd QB on your team.

I gotta say after watching the video, give him a look.  His 2 TD’s were better throws than Tyrod can do.  First one, threw they guy open.  Second one, let the receiver make a play.

Most of the throws were short passes, almost screens.  Seemed to be situational with short yardage for a first.  He did seem to make those dump off passes after looking downfield a few times.

Honestly remember the hype over him.  Concerned that he’s been a disaster.  Worth a look see and possibly be our 3rd running the scoUt team.

Not going to get crazy over a punter, but what the heck?  Incumbent in NE had 22 punts in preseason, yet this kid had none.

A couple of bad punts can turn a game.  Hope they did their due diligence, would have rather kept Ryan if they were this hell bent on booting Colton.

  3. 2 first round picks?

Absolutely!  Would do it in a heartbeat.

As mentioned by others, 1st round picks are a crap shoot.  With Mack you know exactly what your getting...a generational player.  He’ll be a stud on your team for many years.  The track record of 1st rounders league wide is poor at best, again with Mack you know exactly what you’re getting.

As as far as $$$, our cap is looking good starting next year, so structure the deal to accommodate that.  Stay under the cap this year, then take the hit next year and beyond.

  4. Not sure the line is as bad as they loooked.  I know we lost Woods and Incognito.  Don’t count Glenn as he was out most of last year.

There were some jailbreaks on Allen, but he also held the ball a bit.  Also, not sure how much game planning the team did.  Would they have played better without generic blocking schemes?

lastly, Castillo has a track record of being a poor o-line coach, so there’s room for an upgrade there.

I agree Nate has played well enough to start Game 1, but the future of this organization is not about Nate Peterman.

It's about Josh Allen, and we are now in the Allen era.  We need to find out if he can do it or not do it, and you do that by playing him in real games in the regular season.

Sitting him for a year only delays the inevitable, one way or the other, with no gain.

For me, it’s not about win now or win later.  It’s about not getting Allen, or others injured because he doesnt have the command of the offense.

What’s wrong with letting him sit?  Other players sit all the time and learn how to be a pro.

I want Allen to start for sure.  Just don’t want to rush him if he’s not ready.

What evidence do you have to support the assertion that a quarterback improves by sitting and learning?

No reason not to.  Peterman is pretty serviceable and has played better than Allen this preseason.  Much better stats, more productivity.

There have been QB’s who have benefited from sitting, and others from being thrown to the wolves.  If we had no other option, play him.  Peterman is playing well enough to start.

I was a proponent of starting Allen.  After today, I have to change my mind.  He is physically gifted and has the tools for greatness.  Needs to let the game slow down a bit and make quicker decisions.  I’ll support either regardless of who starts.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but I'd go Allen. He might benefit from the adversity and put up some numbers in the second half. He just doesn't seem like he'd be mentally broken, and he's the most elusive of the 3. But he didn't win the job, so I'm open for whatever as a fan.

Also, RAFAEL BUSH!!!! (better runner than the other Bush ;) )

Afraid of damaging him, mentally and physically.

Never seemed to be down and out this game, kept swinging.

  8. Did the yearly dance.

Been with Directtv for about 15 years, and with AT&T cellular for 6 months.

Asked for retention right off the bat, don’t haggle with the regulars reps, they can’t do anything.  At first she offered me internet for $50/month and full boat ST Max with a $55 credit.  Nope.  Told her don’t want the internet.

Spoke for about 5 minutes, and she came back with:

ST Max - $65 per month

$55 credit on bill for 12 months

$5 credit per month on Cinemax

Comes out out to a total of $300 credit over 12 months, with ST Max totally free.  Did a bit better than last year when I called and they proactively had given me ST Max for free, no other credits.

Thing is, some sort of credit is available for al DTV customers, whether it be MLB, NHL, or free movie channels.  Just have to ask.  I also call Time Warner/Spectrum yearly and ask for better rates, they also will offer credits.  Most difficult is cell phone bills, but call every 6 months at least to see if there are better plans that’ll save you a couple of bucks.

  9. Allen has shown flashes of brilliance. Unbelievable arm strength, some pocket presence, command of the huddle.  His potential is incredible.

McCarron looked horrible last night, not as good as last week.  Peterman looked OK, not as good as last week, but would start him over AJ in a minute.

That being said, Allen isn’t As NFL ready as the other two, but you have to start him.  Put him in next week for the first half, if not first 3 quarters.  His few rookie plays a game are outweighed by his ability.  Did I say that dudes arm is unbelievable?

If he starts, the expectation can’t be the playoffs, 7-9 would be my guess.  I’m fine with that.
