  2. Look, everyone gets their allotted 47 sf of living space on floors 1-58, with natural fluorescent light to improve mood and enhance feelings of joy. Each familial unit is allowed 1.3567 offspring per birthing unit, access to the recreation yard every 4.87 days, and a substantial offering of climate friendly compliant dishes to choose from.
  3. This is where I shine, and no one ‘bout to take that away from me!
  4. Your bias is showing through these last couple posts. A Google search suggests the average lot size in the US is about a quarter-acre and trending down. I would agree that in your world, government mandates and pressure to follow the herd into small boxes is a simple solution, it’s just not particularly appealing to many, many, many people. It most definitely has a Cold War Prague-esque housing for the masses vibe to it.
  5. We can move past your characterization, but I’m happy to address the question of which choice I would make. I enjoy a rich and lively urban environment from time to time, mostly in small doses for short periods of time. A few days here, a few days there, though I’m not a huge fan of urban sprawl and prefer my home in the suburbs by a considerable margin. I can understand why someone would prefer a city, just as I understand why some people would prefer a home in the suburbs or something more rural.
  6. Which way what, Podley Smallspace?
  7. She appeared clueless, obtuse, and dumb as a rock in this clip. She should have been suspended for embarrassing her employer.
  8. Seems like a reasonable explanation of how it works. I do a fair amount of my own home/property repairs, and it’s not uncommon for me to tell my wife a project will take me 3 hours and it takes 8. I usually tell her the challenge comes in when I don’t know what I don’t know until I have to know it. On this issue, someone declares that air space above a military base is restricted…it makes sense on some level that it should be that way because, well, it’s a military base. That gets repeated again and again, and we’re off to the races. We don’t know what we don’t know. Now, I do have to keep in mind that you could—could—be part of the terminator drone crew sent out in advance to assure people that all is well while you enslave the world. Rest assured my head is on a swivel, fly boy.
  9. You sound like you’re wrapped up in some sort of religious fervor. How much space are you allotting per family/individual in these little cubicle castles once you convince people the world is ends unless they acquiesce? How many children can a family have in the world order, because let’s be honest, when you speak doom and gloom and unsustainable certainly population must be managed. It sounds positively dreadful in my opinion.
  10. The guy complaining about fear and trepidation of the modern conservative is terrified of... the suburbs. Go figure!
  11. New urbanism is just a fancy name for chucking people on top of other people chucked below them, and I certainly can understand that some people like that style of living. My people lived in single family homes in the 1940s, not choosing to be chucked upstairs or downstairs. That tradition has continued for their descendants, now on to great-great-grandchildren living as they choose and leading productive lives. I believe that the chucked people of the 1940s were often victims of circumstances, exposed to harmful environmental conditions that were potentially avoidable. That wasn't limited to the lego living standards, but certainly is part of the story. Bottom line--live a lego life if you choose, but stand down on suburban living for those who choose that standard of living.
  12. Most political discussions boil down to that sort of thing, Roundy. Haven't you heard that democracy (an institution 250 years in the making) is in peril, that authoritarians will soon occupy the WH (and that authoritarians will soon be departing the WH), that man-made climate change will destroy the planet in 5 no 8 no 10, no 20, no 30 years plus or minus, more or less, that Russians were in the WH, that the Chinese were in the WH, that one candidate or the other is an existential threat, that a group middle-aged beer bellied people almost overthrew the government? My favorite is that in order to save the world, we need to get rid of cars, all people as directed by those in power need to move into mandated living chambers and spend their lives foraging no further than 15-18 minutes from their assigned pod*. *I say that's how the drones will get ya!
  13. Maybe! Joe Biden flew Hellcats and fought the Jerries in WW2 (he had 30 confirmed kills), had to bail out over the Pacific and hooked up with JFK on PT109 before it sank! Why doesn't he just tell us?!
  14. I'm a 'wait and see' guy on stuff like this. My assumption generally is that a simple explanation usually carries the day, but I can understand the interest and fascination on this sort of story. However, Roundy, the ironclad belief in the intellectual prowess of JB, the willingness to forgo logic and common sense and buy what the DNC was selling you about Biden and Harris was world class, next level buffoonery.
  15. Ah. That’s it! Not sure why I kept thinking “Shemp”. Wasn’t he one of the Three Stooges?
  16. I feel like someone else said that...someone here. Hemp? Shemp? Something like that. Does this ring a bell, B?
  17. Absolutely. The last few individuals you’ve partnered with to lead absolutely represent the very best of people ever born, everywhere, ever. ✊🏻
  18. @Tiberius PLEASE PICK UP THE RED COURTESY PHONE!
  19. Just imagine how simple it would be if we just had one reliable source for news. No muss, no fuss, no alternative scum muddying the waters. Maybe someday.
  20. I’m not sure I ever saw the point in doing so. I’m a zero, in many ways some might say.
  21. We don't call @The Frankish Reich 'The Fixxer' for nothing. Write his name on the front, draw a picture of a weiner on the back, and tell them you have better things to do then "stop" at "intersections" and "wait" in your "car". This will go away, probably?
  22. A fractured hip/pelvis can really be devastating, especially in an elderly patient. Having seen someone I love go through it and deal with the aftermath, I hope this is not the case for her.
  23. Be careful not to fly it toward Uranus.
  24. Interestingly, I think they looked at lessons learned from recent political history, adjusted and changed the dynamic in a pretty big way. Meanwhile, the dems were sitting down for a fireside chat on 60 Minutes (check your TV Guide for reruns if you missed it).
