The problem I have with this analysis is we have gone from several "knowns" to several "unknowns". The scenario you lay out of getting replacements sounds good, but we have an awful lot of holes to fill now, and no guarantee that the replacements we get will be comparable in quality. I would also say, until proven otherwise, we are a lot weaker at corner. I don't know how anyone could feel confident in Youboty stepping up into a starting role given his (non-)performance last year.

OK, I can't really argue with that. Who would you say are the "winners" of the off-season so far (granted it's a stupid question at this point of the year)? Denver maybe? I'm trying to think of other teams that have made major moves without many losses.

When your "facts" are simply reciting the TD numbers from the previous year and ignoring the possibility of someone taking a step up in a new system, yes, I have a problem with them. It looks to me like the Pats took a look at areas where they were weak (LB and WR), got some people to fill those holes, and let surplus players from areas of strength go. Now they head into the draft without any overwhelming positional need. I'd say that so far that's a pretty good off-season.

Keep trying to spin that Welker isn't a good pickup for them, but the more you do, the more I'll wonder if you watched him play for the Dolphins last year.

Yeah, I'm getting a bit sick of all the "rah rah" posts any time someone dares post something negative about the Bills' offseason. No, we all know it's not over yet, but at least from where I'm sitting the Bills have managed a good upgrade to one very important area while creating a number of holes to fill. I'm skeptical at this point that they'll manage to fill them all in satisfactory fashion. Just because someone points this out doesn't mean they're not a fan and I wish people would stop with the content-free bashing of any post that isn't rainbows and sunshine.

I really hope you're wrong. It would be absolute foolishness to trade away McGahee if your plan is "we can get player X in the draft". What happens when player X is selected two picks before you?

Yeah, I don't think this is a bad deal for NE at all. To be honest, Welker was the only guy who seemed to show up to play when the Fins played the Bills, and now on a higher-caliber team he has potential to be a thorn in our sides for several years to come.

How do you account for Peters, then? Not all 5th and 6th rounders are created equal, and it takes a good scouting department in conjunction with good coaching to find late-round gems.

I read this a lot, and I just don't buy it. Sure, any defense can get by with lesser performers in one area if it has stars in others - get a good enough pass rush and your corners won't matter as much. But I don't think scheme makes up for inadequate players. I also don't think that the Bills have anywhere near the dominance elsewhere on D to inspire confidence if they decide to not seriously pursue Nate. To me, this smacks of Gregg Williams-style arrogance, to assume that your coaching skills can guide you to victory.

How would we be able to move on to running the new guy out of town if the team is bringing back old guys? Of course Henry does come pre-equipped with baggage that everyone could use against him with minimal research.
