  1. Right - way more committed - they also picked up CuBro
  2. So why were the Argentines going after the refs? Sportsline is reporting: "Now a melee on the field as Argentine players are looking to throw some punches on some of the side officials. Tevez lunged to try and punch an official. Not a pretty sight now. Teams also have to learn to lose graciously." and "The end was marred by pushing and shoving on the field, with several Argentine players surrounding the referee before order was restored."
  3. Is there a version where you can jump to a level? I'm still battling with Level 16. Can I come back to it later and not start at 1?
  4. Where did it go? I can't find it in the past few pages, nor by searching on "cube" or connect. Does anyone have the link?

  6. Oh, that, well that's just the mechanics of the FIFA seedings. Italy was the top seed in our group. FIFA places the top eight seeds into different groups. The top 8 seeds were determined partially by FIFA ranking and partially by how you performed in the last 2 world cups. USA missed out on a top seed because of our last place finish in World Cup 1998. We came up as 9 seed based on those calculations. You can read all about it here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seeding_for_2006_FIFA_World_Cup After that, it is basically drawing balls out of hat. There are some rules about not having too many teams from the same region (Europe, Asia, CONCACAF) in the same group. But it basically boils down to some bad luck in the draw.
  7. Those rankings were horsesh--. I always looks a bookmaker odds. They know how to get things much more accurately than those stupid FIFA rankings. Pre-tournament, Italy was the favorite in our group at @15/1, the Czechs @30/1, USA 100/1, Ghana 130/1
  8. Why would a bank shy away? It seems like a decent location for a course.
  9. ... it looked awfully grown over the last time I drove down the 90. Does anyone know what is going on there?
  10. Probably not - if Italy loses by one goal, they would still: - automatically advance if the USA wins by 3 or fewer, - draw lots if USA wins by 4, - be eliminated automatically only if USA wins by 5 or more.
  11. The Azzurri advance with a tie. They'd finish second only if Ghana beats the USA. So I could see Italy playing for a tie late in the game if the US has a lead on Ghana.
  12. Mate, this bird wouldn't "voom" if you put four million volts through it!
  13. Weight was WAY OFF BASE with his comments on Pominville. Pominville was to the left of the Buffalo net facing the boards looking to his right for a good 5-10 seconds while the play was behind the Buffalo net. Weight came in from Pominville's back and to the left. He never saw him coming. He never turned at the last second. Pure slander. Pominville should sue him.
  14. Shouldn't someone else have said that?
  15. Not a valid point. They call themselves the CAROLINA Hurricanes. And they're in the same state. So it's like people from Springfield rooting for the New England Patriots. Or people from Syracuse rooting for the Bills.
  16. Newman, you magnificient bastard!
  17. Why would Penelope need to hire the Russians/Portugese then? Wouldn't they know where this virtual world was being created?
  18. It's still a step up from the paintball ESPN2 had on the other night.
  19. I just watched (I went to the game last night and was in no condition to watch when I returned) Anyhow, Sloth, I'm thinking the Russians were somewhere near one of the magnetic poles and were monitoring the earth's magnetic field. Thus, if they were able to detect a disturbance in the force, the events on the island cannot be occuring in a virtual world. The events must be occuring in the real world.
  20. Yeah, except this was on ESPN2, in the USA. Even when the World Cup was in Korea/Japan, I don't remember seeing the USA as 미 국 国 on ESPN
  21. One thing I forgot to mention, did anyone else notice the tribal drum in the background music when the Others brought Michael into camp? I don't know if it was supposed to signify how they've become primitive or savage, but it really cracked me up.
  22. I hear ya. VCR is fired up.
  23. After rewatching this epiosde last night, I think Walt's "they're pretending" comment is referring to the whole Others village. They probably have it pretty cushy somewhere but built this rustic village, don tattered clothes, and apply fake beards for some ulterior motive - maybe to give the impression that they're less formidable. On that formidable note, we know the Other's have at least 8 guns - the rifle and the pistol they took off Mike, the five they took off the posse that went after Mike, and at least one when they shot Sawyer on the raft. I'm not sure I'd want to go after them on their turf with at best a 11-8 gun advantage.
