  1. Jason Lohn, a professor of electrical engineering at Carnegie Mellon University, said the competing phones Apple used in its videos "don't have the antenna's bare metal exposed to the hand, so I'd be surprised if the effect of the hand would be as pronounced as it was on the iPhone 4." http://finance.yahoo.com/family-home/artic...mpts-new-debate
  2. Wow - good work - a HANK of rope? I never would've gotten that Anyhow, I did part 2 similar to Corp's. That is: 2/5 x 1/3 x P = 200 thus P =1500
  3. Well - remember most of those thousands would be Nickelback fans
  4. Unfortunately I'm brutal at word puzzles. Went past my 10 min goof-off allowance and hit 15 min before giving up on this one. Below are some of my guesses if they help anyone, but I couldn't even get these 6 to mesh so they probably ain't right: Den - CAVE? Assistant - AIDE? Paid Players - PROS? Hint - CLUE? Scoundrels - ? Coil of Rope - ? Bloke - MATE? Gets by, with "out" - ? Cone Tree - PINE? PC Command - ?
  5. A Barbecue Festival combined with the BPO performing Pink Floyd Should be worth checking out tomorrow
  6. Ehh - I should've refrained - it's a classic theory of constraints puzzle - I've seen it once before
  7. I think it works and I think they got me. I'm freaking out man - their words don't match their lips!
  8. There is more to it. My answer is: 2 min (1+2 cross) + 1 min (1 goes back) + 10 min (5+10 cross) + 2 min (2 goes back) + 2 min (1+2 cross) -------- 17 min
  9. I was not aware of that. But it is very appropriate: But none of the people inside had the opportunity to personally thank Lucas. Once everyone was safely out of the home, Lucas jumped back onto the bus and finished his route. "I knew I had to be at the Victory Center," Lucas said. "People have got to go to work. That's what we do."
  10. #2 is: 18 Each of the 9 boys got 1 toy fixed in 9 minutes. So the extra boy (#10) would fix one extra toy (#10) in the same 9 minutes. Thus 20 toys would be double that time or 18 minutes #1 was tough for me. But hearing them read aloud made it easier than reading the words aloud myself. I went to Google Translate, translated from English to English, then hit the little "Listen to this translation" button. <example 1>
  11. http://www.wgrz.com/news/local/story.aspx?...80&catid=13 You kept making all the stops? Well people kept ringing the bell
  12. Yep - engineer with limited verbal (and social) skills.
  13. Failed - couldn't get part 3 of #1, spent @10 min on #2 then gave up
  14. That's OK. You can share the beach photos after your trip.
  15. And what about their stupid sissy rolled up cakes? I don't need to be confused about where the cake is and where the frosting is. I like my cakes straight - thank you very much!
  16. Meh - the Confed Cup is like the third place game on Sat. Or a friendly. You like to win but you don't want to get anyone hurt. You rarely see hard fouls. Nor too physical play on defense. It's a very different game than the brutal hard fought game you saw yesterday.
  17. Ahh - I'm obviously lacking in culture. Also shrader's explanation is both clearer and more concise than mine.
  18. Ohh, I love the math ones. Lets see: v = velocity of stairs in steps/second Knowing the people move at 1 step/sec, Down guy covers: 24 = h - v · 24 or h = 24 + 24v Up guy: 120 = h + v · 120 or h = 120 - 120v Setting h equal to each other and solving for v: v = 2/3 steps/sec Plugging back into first eq: h = 40 steps And back to #1: 1. Famous Nurse = Florence Nightingale 2. Noteworthy Astronaut = Neil Armstrong 3. Mayor Billionaire = Michael Bloomberg 4. Played Bond = Pierce Brosnan 5. Resigned Notoriously - Richard Nixon 6. Generated Ballets - (beats me) 7. Fettered Cuba? - Fidel Castro 8. Created Drood - (what/who is Drood?)
  19. My earliest memory of the World Cup was also 1982. I did not watch it. But I do remember the nightly news showing all the Italians going crazy in Boston's North End. I never really watched the World Cup until we hosted in 1994 but have been watching feverently since.
  20. Got #2: FIRE-CRACKER-JACK-RABBIT-PUNCH-CARD-BOARD-WALK-ABOUT-FACE-BOOK-FAIR-EXCHANGE-STUDENT-BODY-DOUBLE-CROSS-FIRE Still working on #1
  21. http://www.buffalonews.com/2010/07/07/1106...euthanized.html People really need to learn how to spend their time more productively. Holy crap.
  22. Trochowski is getting the start for the suspended Müller who's been a bright light for Germany so far. He's going to be missed.
