As someone who hangs on His every word, surely you must be incorporating some sort of strange sarcasm into your post.

Holy crap you are retarded.

In all seriousness, whoever he nominates will almost certainly get confirmed, right? Or am I missing some angle here? Wackos will be more fightened than usual. Gun sales are sure to skyrocket again...

Is your Manifesto published online somewhere? Could I get a link?

That's fine, I get the point. I'm not completely sold on man made global warming as it is. I feel like a parrot: The best I can personally do right now is to accept whatever science says about this right now and *cough* not get too emotionally invested *cough* in what the science says right now so that I am prepared to change my thinking based on new evidence. In the end, science is black and white no matter how you want to portray it. I'm not talking about people, I'm talking about hard facts. After all the research is done and analyzed, something is either true or it isn't. Those on the wrong side of science are destined to fail in the end because they are provably wrong. That's why, when taking the long view, it doesn't matter how funding is appropriated in the short term. If something is right, it will stand up to all comers and if it is wrong it will not. I appreciate all of your insight into the world of research funding, but I don't think your arguments either disprove global warming or prove a lack of global warming. Despite your cynasism, the truth will win out. Other than that, this discussion is going nowhere. I'm really not trying to convince anyone of anything.

Holy Schitt, when's the Rapture? Put down the Golden Plates and step away from the Kool Aid.

Conservatives don't know Colbert is joking
Gene Frenkle replied to Kelly the Dog's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
I'm sorry, but you would have to be a complete !@#$tard to not realize that Colbert is mocking the right. -
And here I thought you had a rational head for this stuff. No matter how objective a person may appear, there will always be issues that will drive nearly anyone to over-simplification, ad hominem rationalization, fantastical thinking and general credulity. Global Warming can be boiled down to: "Urban Heating" + "Increased Solar Activity". Period.? Really? I thought global climate analysis was a lot more complicated than that. Seems silly that there's such a fuss over a simple thing like you described. Before you put your crystal ball away, would you mind telling me which stocks will perform best over the next 20 years? Maybe next week's lottery numbers? Thanks.

I appreciate your general skepticism, but your Libertarian political view is skewing your opinion on this. I understand it's a fine line as to which side of this debate is correct, so you're following your general anti-government mentality. The difference is that a true skeptic would look at both sides, relalize his inability to make an informed decision given the complexity of the issue, see the overwhelming scientific opinion of relavent scientists at this point and come to the conclusion that man made global warming is probably a reality. Only one of us has claimed to be an authority on the subject. That either makes you a climate scientist with a rather fringe view within your peer group or a somewhat informed observer with a far less complete view of the situation than the people who are actually researching this stuff. Either way you're on the outside looking in for now. Very similar. Nobody knew the answer to that either. The difference is that the science eventually proved out, as it always does. Despite the UN conspiracy designed to make people think they're living on a flat Earth. It has nothing to do with me. I'm not the one making it all about me. It's a theory that we are causing the Earth to warm up, nothing more. None of the other conspiracy crap really matters.

You're probably right - I'm trying to become more objective. Their objections and protests are just not making ANY sense. They don't have a legitimate leg to stand on after the past 8 years, but that's my view. I'm sure you disagree. NFL allegiance, political affiliation and religion are three sides of the same coin as far as I can tell.

In truth, with Bush, I cringed before I laughed. We were not well represented there (or maybe we were). Personally, I neither love nor worship Obama. I simply think that he is a good man for this particular job at this particular time. Whatever. His teleprompter issues remind me of how screwed I'd be without my cell phone. I used to know a lot of phone numbers, but now I have this very convenient crutch that stores all of the numbers I need. Take that away, and I'm going to have issues. It just doesn't matter enough to even think about for any length of time. It's just funny to watch the wackos twist and turn trying to find something to rag on the guy about. This is the best they can do. Ok.

You need to google teabagging. You'll be like: so THAT'S what it's called! -
Government conspiracy.

I think he's drunk. -
Ya, there's nothing I can say to that because you're taking a position of authority. I'm not here to convince you anyway. It's the cancer cure that Big Pharma's keeping down. It's the pill you drop in your gas tank to increase fuel efficiency by 50% that Big Oil's keeping quite. It's the Thymerisal in the vaccine that's giving your kid Autism. It's a big conspiracy. You win.

Hokey religions and ancient weapons are no match for a good blaster at your side, kid.

Actually it was Yoda. You knew that, right?
