Rothlisberger or Eli? Who is JP going to look
JP-era replied to JP-era's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Ive seen the comment from many on needing a C. How about this? Trade Henry for a 2nd (fingers crossed). Draft CJ Brooks AND David Baas who plays C for the Wolverines. Then start Teague at LT? Could he be decent there? Personally Id rather have us pull an improbable pick up like Takeo Spike on the o-line and land a stud like Jones/Pace/ or Tra Thomas. I for one wouldnt mind picking up Floyd Womack or Cosey Coelman at G either. -

if thats what it takes to get this team to not blow there wad before the superbowl, I guess Id take one for the team. OK, now Im disgusted AND SICK! Puke on the way! Dont we have some damn females that would do this "job"? -
No, Im happy about it. I would have been happier drafting last in the rounds but hey whos being picky?

Carr went to Fresno State, Pennington went to Marshall, Vick went to Virginia Tech (there a small school right?) Well said, the scholl JP played for means nothing. His ATTITUDE means EVERYTHING!

Well put. Another pocket passer who stinks like Drew! -
I have a new drill to give Drew pocket awareness

If you want to resort to simple slams, I can go there too. No quarters! -
I have a pretty solid feeling that JP is no worse than Eli and ends up with a better record thrugh the same number of games than Eli. Moreover, I think he has a good chance to post a winning record in year 1 and a decent chance to finish 10 and 6 and in the playoffs. Consider this: I hardly consider mop up duty a good test for whether a QB should start or not. Id prefer to watch him prepare for and actually start a game with the first team before making that assessment. Moreover, we would be silly to watch him in just ONE game good or bad and be willing to make some long term projection about where he can and cant take us. The most important problem with any equation where we start any other retread QB is that it further stunts or future QB's growth which isnt good for our team. Had Eli started from day one, who knows he may have turned his play around quick enough to be in the wildcard spot with a say 8 and 8 record. Rather, Eli suffered from being thrown to the dogs well into the season when the offense had already formed a pseudo-jell with Kurt. The entire synch was thrown off, the WR's hadnt had the time needed to know when and where the ball would be and they consequently dropped way too many passes. Roth is a better example of what could happen with JP. The guy had the luxury of starting for a good team already and could be brought along slowly and with a team that could count on its running game to take the pressure off him. Our team is similar with McGahee in the backfield. We need to add some help on the line and I believe we will do so with a big splash from FA and the draft. I dont want JP to win for us, I want him to NOT lose for us! We can win games early with JP by simply controlling the clock and running the ball, our D will do the rest. As JP gets better, so will our passing O, and then the sky is the limit. JP's legs alone may win us a few more games. We have almost all of the components for a playoff team. A great D, great special teams, good WR's, a great running game, a decent o-line. I think we will upgrade to our o-line with a stud LT and a decent LG. I also think we add a good TE. JP needs to be given the 1st shot at starting from day one of training camp, start playing with the 1st team in training camp, and play more than most starters in pre-season. Then we simply need to run the ball and play strong clock control offense. JP can be given short passes and as he progresses we can open the offense up more and more. Our D will win games for us, if we can merely move the ball and score points. If an average Drew could manage to win games so can any other average QB. JP wont have the "head" problems going into big games. He will expect and assume nothing. He should have at least a decent shot of playing well in these games too. The key to starting JP and having the best shot at the playoffs is to make that decision early, give him the time with the starters to jell and be patient, predictable, and stay firmly behind him thorugh the ups and downs.

It doesn't seem really popular right now...but

Clearly you have been watching the games under a serious buzz from Stadiumwall. I cant believe that you are naive enough to think our o-line isnt good. I just wont believe it. -

Nice try. Our line is very good in fact. Its Drew, and his inability to throw the ball after 3 seconds, that is in fact the problem here. Whether youd rather have Eli or not, he aint here, JP is. And JP will start next year IMO. BTW, dont even try to assume what I will do next year if JP plays poorly. I would rather watch our future QB struggle and get better than our retread QB struggle and get worse! -
One dumb post does not a poster make smart! 2 pocket QB's Peyton- 495 att 335 comp 67.7% 4551 yards 49 TD's 10 int's 121.4 passers rating, AND 13 sacks Drew- 420 att 240 comp 57.1% 2743 yards 20 TD's 15 int's 77.9 passers rating AND 34 SACKS! Hmmm... worse complt %, A little over 1/2 the yards, 5 more ints, a MUCH worse passers rating, and almost 3 times the numbers of sacks! Ghee, you right what a stud!

Im all for Losman next year! I have every reason to believe that JP can be as good as Rothlisberger since we are so close to the Steelers in so many ways. Even if he is as bad as Eli, I still would rather have Eli as our starter than Drew right now! Eli gets better every game and you can see it on the field. JP needs to play and go through the ups and downs. With a quality supporting cast (already in place), good coaching (already in place), a Great D (already in place), a good o-line (close but a few players away), and good special teams (already in place), I expect Losman to have the luxury of not having to play great right off the bat to win but to be able to grow into the position with time. BTW, I firmly behind us grabbing o-lineman first and foremost this off season. Especially with Jennings set to bolt. -
I am very proud of what McGahee, Evans, Mularkey, McGee, Bobby April, and many others have done. I am very disappointed in Drew, Moulds, and Henry. But, no matter how proud of the Bills we are, just out of the playoffs ISNT the goal! The goal is a SB win!
-
Completely agree..almost! O-line first and foremost in the draft..ABSOLUTELY! The guy I like the most is CJ Brooks. Elton Brown and David Baas are very good too. TE is VERY weak in the draft. Id like us to grab Bubba Franks or Anthony Becht instead!

Try to justify Drew's place on this team.

Cut Bledsoe and use the cap cash to grab a stud LT -
Bye Drew, Lindell, Moulds in the slot!
JP-era replied to JP-era's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Adding ONLY a decent TE makes Drew win against NE? or any other team with a good defense? I just dont see that. -
A touch TOO much change for my taste. Where did you get the cap figures?
-
Bye Drew, Lindell, Moulds in the slot!
JP-era replied to JP-era's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Lee Evans, Eric Moulds, Willis McGahee, a decent o-line. What exactly do you expect from us to make Drew good? -
Bye Drew, Lindell, Moulds in the slot!
JP-era replied to JP-era's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Gosh, your right, he was only 1 turnover short of what I thought! Your right, 16/30 189 yards 0TD's, 1 int, and 1 fumble for a TD is a good game! Good point, hes great, he can win the big games to get us to the playoffs and beyond. responses to your posts are now a waste of time. -
Bye Drew, Lindell, Moulds in the slot!

Well put and thanks for the cap update on Drew. Id like Jennings to come back but would rather have Jones/Pace/or Thomas if he asks for the same pay as them, if you know what I mean! -
Id be VERY happy with Eli Manning rather than DREW! Mark my words...NYG are in playoff contention next year behind Eli. He is getting better every game!
-
Hey for the JP and DREW haters or both!
JP-era replied to crackur's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
2 young unproven, highly paid QB's? I cant see the sense in that! Id rather pick up Kurt Warner as our #2 and start our #1, ohh BTW cut fuggin DREW! -
I actually mind that. Ya see McNair will SURELY be hurt in the 1st game and Losman is our starter!
