The Media's Portrayal of Trump and His Presidency
plenzmd1 replied to Nanker's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Tell Would be news to Teump! He told the troops he gave them a 10% raise. Course it was not even close to that and he told them they had not had a raise in over 10 years , which is also not remotely true. But it I am sure his lieing to the troops will be spun as his true devotion to the military and his keeping the US safe somehow. -

two things here 1) I was expecting to peruse her twitter timeline and find some very right leaning posts..I did not see that at all. Had some questions about the kid and Christmas presents , but that's another story 2) That being said, this is renting a room ( i am guessing in an apartment) and not an entire house or apartment. I can see in these times where you are either all right or all wrong,, and an awful person if you think different than me..opposing views politically would be tough to live with some people. You think @westside wants me as a roomie? You know, I am an adult and have good friends who are all in on Trump...and we have great times drinking and telling each other what idiots the other side is..to me the opposite view is fun to debate. To so many, it is just not an option to discuss with someone who does not agree with you. Hard to live with someone then -
I don't believe I used the words "could not" when it comes to most people, not saving..just they cannot handle the sudden interruption of paychecks. not just federal workers not having saved for the proverbial rainy day. However, They" have not" saved, and therefore "cannot" weather interruption of their paychecks without some consequences. My only argument is that stupidity is not limited to federal government workers, it is rampant across all workers

They Shall Not Grow Old- is 3D the way to go?
plenzmd1 replied to plenzmd1's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I am going to the 4PM showing..will post right before the Sabres game what I thought. BTW, I think a tie for the two best Museums i have ever been in 1) The Imperial War Museums 2) The Newseum -
umm, I would debate you on that. The resolution had not been voted on yet, but as I understand it( and I could be wrong) the numbers in terms of border funding had been agreed to... the $1.8B for " border enforcement"( not a wall) had been agreed to by both parties and Trump admin had said he would sign. Then Trump reversed course after widespread criticism from his most vocal and seen/followed base ...and he said no...I will not sign without the wall. As mentioned.. I would actually be signing his praises if he just said we will fight for a fully funded wall....but it's not about building a wall and keeping the US safe.. its about placating his base. As it is for the other side.

i know, Trump has so much respect for the military..it shows in his words. ( i am assuming the Military Times is not a mouthpiece for the liberal elite) https://www.militarytimes.com/news/pentagon-congress/2018/12/27/in-iraq-visit-trump-makes-false-claim-about-military-pay-again/ -
no, he did not. That was the scramble by the Republicans to reword the resolution and increase the funding from $1.8 Bto $5B.
-
and my argument is almost 80% of the US population could not plan for it. Less than 80% of people in this country have more than $1000 to plan for emergencies and possible loss of income..i agree idiots, but it is not contained to federal workers
-
both parties.. Trump said he would sign the resolution then backed out and changed the terms when his tv , radio, and far right went nuts. Dems are being stubborn cause of Trump Both are doing for political wins with their base neither is doing over a strong belief one or another that the wall will be built after this fight. S

of course not claiming anything about one week, just busting and you know it. But to claim federal workers should somehow live a more austure life and save more and etc than the average American I think is not a great argument.
-
No, Sanders indicated and acknowledged last Tuesday Trump would sign the resolution extended and temporily funding the government through Feb 2019. House republicans were all set to send that to Trump when Ingram, Fox and Friend et al got involved and on Thursday Trump reversed course.Even if you disagree on the motivation, to revise what Sanders said and deny she said it is not being honest. Your post for that day even stated " well, there are other ways to fund the wall" ..
-
well, the point of the post was that all fed workers had only lost one day to that point...it is just a falsehood. Even the folks who are working, but being paid in arrears..are affected. Most studies say 70-80% of all US workers state they live paycheck to paycheck...not just federal workers. And as of Tuesday of last week, the Trump administration said he would not force a shutdown. True, fed workers screwed up and trusted Trump..and that is on them?

what question have I danced around? Name one.. I will give you a cookie if you point it out. How many times have I stated violence for your political ideals is stupid. How many times have I stated the extremes of Antifa and white supremacists are stupid and idiotic ..how many positions of mine on this board of mine would you consider leftist? Name me one ...yet you refuse to see any of that ..i swear you do not read the responses. Please show me my hypocrisy...and please go back to your statement that I was wrong that violence in support of political ideals is wrong. you know my position on this.. I have zero issue with a wall..not sure it will work but can't hurt right? Be great if part of a broader immigration reform package, but we both know that's not happening. And you know my position is clearly this is not about the wall for either party..if it was we would be arguing over whether fully funding a wall is worth the shutdown. It is all about satisfying their base for both parties..it is zero about a wall

Cmon @B-Man , you are starting to get your infor from bad places. It was the fake news doctored headline the other day, now this. 420K government workers are working right now without pay. More than the furlouhed workers missing a day at 340K. Yes they will get paid eventually, but missing a check for the vast majority of people in this country puts a hurting on them..even its if coming, but two weeks late.
-
I asked you to form an argument when violence in support of a political ideal is warranted as you said i was wrong earlier in thread. You came back with your standard response of you lean left...you bad and dishonest. For christ sakes man, form an argument, argue for it, show evidence why you support it...and please form more than "I was a democrat..i left, they suck, Antifa represents all Dems""". It is juvenile dude. BTW, if I was a democratic operative i would take your posts on this , show them to the world as proof positive the Dems have a smarter party then GDP
-
not quite sure what you mean here Tom..but that dude should absolutely be allowed to speak wherever and whenever someone wants him there. I feel the same on White Supremacists..same with Black Supremacists..same with Farrakhan..just cause I oppose their views and think they all whacked..have at it. Violence against any of them is not warranted.
-
and that's what I expected...no argument, no cogent points, nothing of substance outside of "dems bad" (btw, I am not a dem if you have not figured that out yet)
-
hmm..trying to figure this one out..please explain in detail..when is violence justified in the US to support your political position? And if you can make an argument outside of " antifa is the militant arm of the Democratic party" or "denounce antifa" i will be truly shocked.
-
okay.. I will take the bait...violence in support of your political position in the United States is good when?????
-
to me , its a nothing argument on either side. Violence on either side is idiotic. End of story
