  1. He has always based personnel and alignment on what talent was there. If he can prepare a makeshift unit like that on a week's notice, I think he can do pretty well over a season and offseason. The only area where Ryan has him (or anyone) beat is press conferences.
  2. He actually has used 4-3 packages quite a bit. Of course, he's most famous for his 3-4 packages in Denver and Buffalo. The biggest time that sticks out to me was in the late 90's when the Bills lost Speilman and Covington in the same week, moved to a primarily 4-3 defense and beat Miami 9-6
  3. He's run both over the years and adjusts well to utilize personnel and disrupt the opposing offense
  4. Free agents aside, I have to wonder how the defense with the current personnel would be, if we haad Wade Phillips instead of Buddy's son
  5. I think total offense tells more. Run/Pass ratio can skew the total of either. I think Taylor is above average for a QB in this league, but average to below average for a starter on a winning team. He is very valuable and I wouldn't be uncomfortable if he's the starter next season. I would be uncomfortable if he is the starter by default.
  6. My solution is to improve the team. The people who just want to scrap TT without a better option are idiots. That is what made the team suck for almost two decades now. Bring in a couple guys who can compete/push him. Build up the line. I think a lot of TT's success is based on a lot of talent around him, but sure- I have seen some things in him. By no means have I suggested getting rid of him.
  7. I'm not even saying that he won't. We need to be looking all positions. I'd be looking OL and TE upgrades first on offense, but if competition presents itself at QB, grab it.
  8. I am not in the "the sky is falling if TT isn't replaced camp." But if better players aren't sought out at every position, what is the point. If a blue chip LB is available, but a third-rate QB is taken, I have a problem with that. If a good QB is available, the team should acquire him and allow competition. The pro bowl is not an excuse to not improve
  9. I am fine if he is the starter, but if you bring in a QB with the intent of filling the water bottles, what is the point. I'm fine with letting him enter camp as the starter, but I'm hoping for a QB that can challenge him. The pro bowl is pretty meaningless. I haven't watched since Tasker was the MVP
  10. I'm really not saying to get rid of him, nor is the pro bowl going to change my opinion, as it has proven meaningless. I haven't seen that he can be an elite guy. I'm just saying bring someone in to compete- through the draft and free agency. And bring in a coach who can coach
  11. Again, nowhere did I say he shouldn't be back and nowhere did I say we should bring in a guy and anoint him as the starter. He's not a terrible option and should remain the starter until we have a better option. Taylor isn't the reason the Bills missed the playoffs, but he isn't going to have this magical improvement down the road. Even if we don't improve the position, I'd say all this team needs to reach the playoffs is a viable coach. To go beyond that, they will need more from the quarterback, OL and defense. The defensive personnel is there, it just needs to be used. If you need me to clarify something, just ask
  12. OK, you take my statement of him not being the answer to me saying he should be immediately cut, with a press conference declaring that anyone who signs him should be fired? Hello no. I don't believe he is a starting quarterback on a championship team. I think he can be efficient and make plays in the running game, which is very important. What he isn't, is a QB suited for games where his team plays from behind. He definitely can play. At times at a somewhat high level
  13. Or made a statement on the talent he has to work with. Taylor is the best QB the Bills have had in awhile, but he's not the answer. Rex isn't the answer either, but we knew that a couple years ago
  14. This won't be popular, but Bledsoe was better. His combination of holding the ball too long and a bad OL was problematic, but he was by far the best since Kelly
  15. The fact is that Tyrod isn't the reason the Bills lost. They were built to be a defense that crushes the opposition and an offense that wears teams down. While Rex Ryan is great in press conferences, he has nothing if his scheme doesn't work (with this talent, we don't need some big-ego soothing scheme). The offense is not built to come from behind very often.
  16. At times you have to get people out of there you don't want. And sometimes to do that, you have to go with a guy who isn't good enough. I'm not comparing them because of that. I see similar mannerisms. I only hope Marrone someday receives a good opportunity.
  17. He took over a dead franchise. Not a bad one- a dead one. There was no will to win or compete. You don't fix those problems without pushing things. Rex ain't going to push those things- he's going to entertain you before and after the game. I picked the Jets as the surprise team this year, Major upgrades at a bunch of positions and competent coaching
