Venezuela's Fall Into Dictatorship
GG replied to Trump_is_Mentally_fit's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
That's quite the wish list, Polyanna. I'll ask just one question out of the many that are unpossible. How do you suppose you will get a healthier population if you impose a single payer scheme? -
Venezuela's Fall Into Dictatorship
GG replied to Trump_is_Mentally_fit's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
How many times does it need to be explained to you that single payer will not solve the primary issue with US healthcare delivery? It's stupid to compare the US health statistics with other countries and then thinking that the magic wand of single payer is going to fix the fundamental problem of why US residents get sick. Do your f'ng homework, Sue. -

Care to compare the incidents of heart disease in Taiwan vs US? Which is the symptom & which is the cause of higher health spending in the US? -

Flynn: immunity probably means you committed a crime
GG replied to Meathead's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
That very well may be. But when you started your proclamations, only three people in the world honestly thought that Trump would be President. So if the Deep State war started well before the elections, and well before the nominations, then my theory is a lot more plausible than yours - it was Obama loyalists planting seeds, because no matter who was to become President, they would eviscerate the feckless Obama foreign policy. This war that you speak of is nothing more than whatever is left of Obama loyalists doing their best to protect an awful legacy. -
Wait a second, weren't you the one screaming the loudest about the US being in Yemen in the first place?

No, it's Obama's toadies vs Trump. So your former friend is the gatorman of the right. Big deal. How is this in any way related to Obama & his supporters laughing off the Russian threat in 2012? -

And if the government was so truly concerned about the underclass, it wouldn't have 1,000 lottery games within spitting distance of check cashing places. -

That's the whole point, and to give him credit, he's not walking away from trying to push change through legislation. Which is why I find people like you hilarious. On one hand you admit that pushing through contentious legislation is hard. But then you slam him for not getting it done in 70 days. Pick one. -

After a certain point, you don't get a pass for being a noob. All these things were thoroughly discussed during the campaign, with every rational thinker knowing that the things you listed had very low probability of passing. Of course you ignore that over the first 70 days with a stroke of a pen while holding the new iPhone, trump just eviscerated nearly the entire 8 yr Obama legacy, -
Bills fire 3 long-time staffers and Team Chaplain

So long Chaplin. Surprised he was still on the staff. Haven't people been up in arms over Bills' conditioning and nutrition over the last 4 yrs? -

As long as the main TV networks will cover it as a circus, the mouth breathers will believe it's a circus. Hey look, a shiny object with smoke on it. -

Please show me the instance where administrative costs in the public sector were a magnitude lower than in the private sector -
I understand the libertarian motivations very well. They're much more interested in iconclastic grandstanding than they are in governing. Ever wonder why libertarians can't even get 3% of the vote in national elections? Governing isn't the same as putting up a manifesto and pretending your job is done. There's a reason Paul has a cult following that hasn't expanded too far beyond the roots, and why he's peddling doomsday financial schemes in retirement.
-
And as Tom pointed out, the libertarians are playing the role of the leftists in pushing the electorate to the other side. And the one thing that the left has going for them that the right does not, is the demographic trends. So if the libertarians don't partake in the governing part of government, their utility to GOP is useless.

Then they're no different than dogs barking at cars. You're forgetting the most important reason they are in DC in the first place, and that is to be part of an effective government. The gift that Trump gave them is much bigger than what they would have received with HRC, in that now they actually have to earn the role of being part of the representative government. The easy part of heckling leftist policies is not available to them for 2 more years. But if they continue down their path, they'll have that role again very soon, and probably for eternity given the demographic patterns. If it's true that they refused any sort of compromise and kept on doubling down on demands after their initial conditions were met, and if this is the way they are going to behave for the next two years, they will pave a nice red carpet ride for the liberals to swoop back in. And if you think that being obstinate is a winning long term strategy, you're sadly mistaken. The trump gift came solely because Dems nominated the only candidate in the world who could lose to Trump, and that was only thanks to a couple of thousand angry voters in three states. These states are not the libertarian strongholds. You can flail at the windmills all day long, but if the libertarian wing continues to be overtly obstructionist, you'll be back to a Dem supermajority in no time.

I'm not aware of anyone on Trump's staff having direct ties to a foreign government or official. The closest was Manafort & he's gone. Trump is not directly involved in his family business. But of course when 99% of the family business value is the Donald Trump brand, it's always going to be hard to separate himself and why questions will always dog him.

How far do you want to extend the reach? You can play the game of circumstantial evidence all day long with a former government official who joined a private consultancy that was hired by a foreign bank which has one of its directors living next door to a foreign ruler's babysitter. (Kind of like your where there's smoke allegations up the thread)
