  1. We can always slap the tag on him. If another team takes him away then we'll get a first round pick which would be excellent. Then there's a chance we'll be able to entice a quality corner to come over to a top NFL defense. The other options are to have one of the backups step up or strike it rich in the draft. I don't want to spend that much money on Clements, as great as he is he isn't worth that much against our cap.
  2. No thanks. Those type of contracts are cap killers, If Nate wants to stay here he must lower his contract demands. I'd rather have the ability to pay McGahee, Evans and Losman in the coming years. IMO paying one player on the team 10 million per year just isn't doable. Time to look at cornerbacks in the 2006 draft.
  3. it's our kicker. Heading into tomorrows game I'm struck with the fact that many beleive this will be a defensive battle. A defensive battle means that field goals are a big factor in the outcome. Oh brother. Oh well, maybe one of our kick returners will score. Let's get it on already!
  4. Agreed! But who really cares about the Pats right now, I want to see David Carr tossed around like a rag doll tomorrow.
  5. had better bring it in a big way tomorrow. If they don't get any turnovers I think we'll end up losing. So if you're so great, prove it against Carr and Co.
  6. Peter King said it on the Mike and Mad Dog show (WFAN in NYC) this afternoon. Telling me I was wrong is pretty cocky fella.
  7. Relax man...no need to get cocky. BTW, I think Nance is from New Jersey.
  8. ...is not a popular guy in the locker room. Apparently too cocky for some of the players. This is the first time I heard of this. What, the team would rather have a comatose guy like Bledsoe back?? I see a guy like Brady all sorts of fired up on the sidelines during games, this is the kind of QB I want on our team. Someone who gives a damn. If a player has a problem with Losman they should send him packing already. Especially if he's letting it be known to Peter King! I've been listening to NYC's WFAN and I thought I'd pass along those two tidbits. Last note, Nance better have the balls to call this on his dumb pregame show.
  9. They were great last year. I'm not too sure about this season. One win against a defenseless Raider team does not a great team make.
  10. I know that ESPN is falling over themselves coronating the Pats as this season's champs after last nights game but I saw it differently. The Raiders were a complete joke on defense. Their D backs couldn't cover the Pats cheerleaders. I was not impressed by the win at all. The Raiders still had a chance in the fourth quarter!! I also saw a Pats team that looked potentially soft in both running and passing defense. If I'm Malarkey I'm could see success for McGahee and Losman against this team. I'm not saying we'll beat them, just that I could definately see our team getting over the hump and giving them a loss. Of course if we lose to the Texan's please disregard this post. Let's go Buffalo!
  11. Agreed... Go Raiders!!!!
  12. Sounds cool? Sounds more like good old-fashion advice to our beloved team.
  13. Gotcha. Hopfully they can get their sea legs much faster than that, considering last season's start. I actually feel like this whole game hinges on our defense's play. If they have just an ok game I think we lose. If they're in top form creating field position, turnovers and such then we'll win. They have to make life as easy as possible for our offense this Sunday. No excuses, this is the Texan's we're talking about, the Bills defense should get at least three sacks and two turnovers.
  14. Strongly disagree... This team will never be a playoff team without using and successfully executing big plays on offense. Because we aren't grinding out anything with our present offensive line. I think you play to the team's and player's strengths and abilities. Moulds fits the offensive style you're talking about. However we have Lee Evans and Roscoe Parrish on our team. That means we would be surrendering deep play ability when we actually HAVE deep play ability. Why would you want to make life easier for the other team's defenses? The Patriots are the best team in the league that takes what players do best and uses these talents in game planning against every team on their schedule. I'm hoping that Malarkey will do the same thing for the Bills.
  15. We have a solid veteran defense that by all accounts thinks of itself as the top defense in the NFL. Well if this is the case then the pressure for the win or loss falls squarely on their shoulders. They can't be thinking that "Hey, the offense needs to march down the field and score some points!". No, sorry guys, doesn't work that way. When you think your the best defense in the league and you have a green-as-can-be QB in JP Losman on the other side of the ball, you HAVE to shorten the field for them. You HAVE to get sacks, you HAVE to get turnovers and you HAVE to be great on third downs. Sorry, but this one rides on you guys, you know..."the BEST defense in the league".
  16. First, I think it's great work that you're doing and I very much appreciate your efforts helping out during this severe crisis. However, I think your attack on the media is unfair. Of course there's been some over-the-top histrionics by many reporters on television, but during the first four days there was shockingly very little response from governmental emergency agencies the media was truly effective in being inside New Orleans and showing America the human tragedy happening in the one place the government wasn't. As a side note, in the last couple of days I've seen dosens of stories showing the amazing work being done by the men and women of the emergency and relief agencies. I haven't seen the media attack those people, only the heads of the government and emergency operations which were clearly not doing their job. The media served as a window for all of this country to see that there's something very wrong with it's leadership when America meets with a major catastrophy. Keep up the great work.
  17. The more I think about it, the Bills really should go "No Huddle" offense with Losman mostly passing and bootlegging (few running plays) the first couple of series and here's why: Just to stay alive, Losman thrived in a frantic offensive pace over at Tulane Losman will not have any time to think too much, making him play on instinct If he turns the ball over there's at least three quarters to recover Everyone on the planet knows the Texans are going to key everyone on McGahee Make the Texans get out of the eight man in a box to open up the running game Capers will not expect it, capers will not expect it, capers will not expect it
  18. Dolphins and Cowboys...those are a couple of truly hatable NFL teams. I think the NFL would have a more boring history without the Oakland Raiders, you need the villans. That being said, I'm rooting for them big time come Thursday night.
  19. How appropriate would it be if the Raiders could beat the Patriots this Thursday and signal the beginning of the end of their run. The Raiders got robbed with Brady's non-called fumble in the snow at Foxboro Stadium, so perhaps they can put the first nail in their coffin in the 2005 opener. I could see an upset at Gillette on Thursday night.
  20. This game has 3 point or less winning margin written all over it. That spread seems out of whack, it'll go down. You have two defense minded teams that will no doubt be playing close to the vest all day long. Also, doesn't Buffalo always seemed to play badly in the openers? There is something about that 0-4 start last season that would really make me think twice about giving 4 1/2 points here. My only prediction is that the margin of victory by either team will be 3 or less.
  21. Look at what we did when McGahee was inserted into the lineup after the 0-4 start last year. We won't have to wait much longer to find out who's right.
  22. Hell yes. I think there's been major failures on all levels of government. The Mayor should have had buses for those without means to leave by car, train or plane. He should have also had a plan for food and water provisions if the flood came. The Governor should have had National Guardsmen on standby. Bush should have seen the fubar situation much earlier and acted on the National catastrophy instead of watching the obvious failures of local government and letting the situation become the National embarrassment that it obviously did. Bush gets the most blame because he's the top dog. That's the way it is when you're the President. There's no passing the buck of this one.
  23. Basing predictions on preseason performances is flat out crazy.
  24. From what I can gather, I would think that if you were poor and living from monthly paycheck to monthly paycheck that you'd have a hard time to buy 3 to 5 days worth of food at the end of a monthly cycle. I'm amazed that many here find acceptable that the goverment has several days to get help to U.S. citizens following national disasters. If the city of Buffalo were flooded by Lake Erie and the goverment took 3 to 5 days to get help to the people directly effected I think there would be a much different spin going on here. To me there's no way the goverment and it's appologists can spin an acceptable reason for the delayed response.
  25. Gross incompetence or gross apathy? Whatever it was, it was too damn late.
