Bush was as clueless as the mayor, governer and FEMA Director. So $500 billion a year on nation defense gets you rescued from a national emergency in 4-5 days?
That's embarassing.
I thought we were playing the Buccaneers?
BTW, if we lose to the Bucs I think momentum comes to a screaching halt and they'll stand a good chance of losing to the Falcons. They're a better team than us right now. Atlanta's a proven established team, we aren't.
Let me get this straight...you're defending Ron Brown now? Oh boy.
On-the-job training for a Director of FEMA........hmmmmmmmmm. Doesn't really seem like such a wise decision now, does it.
You can ignore the phrase "the first few days" in my sentence all you'd like. Unfortunately for Bush backers, that's the part Americans don't seem to ignore.
The Coast Guard did it's job. We all know that.
America's become painfully aware that Bush let his "buddy" appoint his grossly underqualified "buddy" to head of the Federal Emergency Management Association. The results of the federal government's response the first few days of the disaster is something that will follow this administration for the rest of it's term. What makes it even more disgraceful is that Brown was allowed to be appointed with full knowledge of the events of 9/11. No article from a Bush apologist can change that fact.
I think your team just put the entire NFC on notice yesterday. Absolutely nobody was talking about the Bucs chances for a spot in the playoffs. I'm seriously afraid our Bills will be entering a hornets nest in Tampa. This game will be won or lost on turnovers, period.
Paraphrase...
Media: "So Dom, tell us about the whoppin the Bills just gave you..."
Capers: "The Bills???? They're nothin' compared to what we'll face next week!"
There's "coach-speak", then there's "dope-speak".
This is the key phrase. Not too many runningbacks in the NFL can take it to the house on a 71 yard run, this kid did. So I wouldn't feel so comfortable downgrading his big stats. The Bills will have their hands full with Cadillac.
I only saw highlights of the game but this you can't deny them, they're a team coming home after taking down their biggest rival at their house. The team and their fans will be stoked to say the least.
BTW, their defense held Minny to two field goals and Cadillac runs like the wind. I even think we might end up being the underdogs in the betting lines.
I think it will be a hard but winable, tough faught game. We'll get two questions answered right off the bat:
Can they win a road game?
Can they win a week after getting their heads swelled by all the media props and pats on the back?
It's so hard to gauge how good or bad teams are this early. Remember how we creamed the Pats a couple of years ago then fell off a cliff? Cautious optimism baby, cautious optimism.
Capers needs to shut his pie hole. His team just got smacked by McGahee running for over 100 yards and turning the ball over 5 times to Buffalo and he's downgrading us? That takes some balls.
A few teams that have broken the bank for players in free agency: Washington, Oakland, Denver, Minnesota
Sorry Nate, but you aint getting 10 million a year from the Bills with those examples to steer away from.
Ok, to clear up the mass confusion going on in this thread. Let me tell you what I saw on the NFL ticket...after JP Losman knelt down for the final play of the game he held onto the ball while giving props to the opposing team. After the commercial break JP gave a quick interview then immediately headed for the tunnel with a football (I'm assuming this was the same ball he had ended the game with) in his hands. As he saw the fans he held up the ball and said "who wants it!" The he wings it into the crowd. It was the classiest thing I've seen a Bills player do in a long time. Now let's please move on with our lives.
Alex Smith rookie tight end had 2 touchdowns.
Next weeks game looks like it's going to be a tough game all of a sudden. I thought they were supposed to be bad this year.
Oh well, we have all week to worry about Tampa Bay. Cause we're 1-0 baby!
Are you kidding me? That's the funniest commercial I've ever seen. I laugh my ass off every time I see it. The NFL films music is classic.
I'm not offended by it at all.
Nate Clements was ranked 39th best player in the league by the sporting news. Maybe you could argue that he should be somewhere around 30th. But make no mistake about it, a player 30th or lower has no business making 10 million a year unless the GM wanted to put himslef in salary cap hell quickly. From where I'm looking, dude wants more than he's worth.
What the hell are you yappin about? Please show me where I've changed my argument on not signing Nate.
Overpaying for players is never a good policy. If you think that Nate Clements is worth 10 million dollars per year then we'll both just have to disagree with each other.
