  1. The wind almost blew you away with the board acting as a sale, you obviously live in Buffalo. I hate that stupid wind(except on certain gamedays) and it disappears when it gets hot, what a bastard. Ive got my old draft board in storage right now, it has trouble fitting in the car and definately is amatuerish in comparison to this years model.
  2. Actually that year I was hoping a TE would fall to us or we would take a guy like Khalif Barnes or Vincent Jackson. I certainly never expected parrish. Nugent seemed like a good prospect but drafting a kicker in the 2nd when you lack a first rounder doesn't seem like a prudent move.
  3. Good call, of course, they have no use for him. Also, did the cowboys trade up to grab spears? or did they stand pat and wait for him? Spears was a beast in college and looked good coming out. Doesn't really fit into our scheme except as an end on run downs and potential tackle on passing downs, as another poster pointed out Spencer Johnson already is filling that role. Of course as the giants proved you can never have too many defensive lineman and a 5th rounder is a small price to pay.
  4. That picture of the 5 old people definitely is the winner. Hilarious stuff. Also, fantastic rettatta reference, Im glad that people won't let that die. Honestly, who doesn't think noodles and pickle juice are like peas and carrots? Plus, it takes an hour. thats enough time to do a double workout session on the bowflex home gym (according to the commercial).
  5. I liked the last two, but man did 05 suck. I waited like 8 hours to hear the name : Roscoe Parrish. Remember who everybody really really wanted us to get that year?????? MIKE NUGENT. A little absurd looking back on it. Although this was the first year where I've had even a shred of confidence in Lindell when the game is on the line.
  6. I must say that is pretty awesome, exactly what one would expect from a person with that handle. Nice work on the draft board. You use a different approach than I do. For years I had talked about constructing a draft board, because lets be honest, as fun as the draft is it can drag at times and having a draft board injects that much more life into the event. Finally last year I constructed one on the eve of the draft in a couple of hours using limited funds and whatever I could muster at office depot. This year I planned ahead, bigtime. I've already got a spreadsheet with approximately 3-4 rounds worth of names on it(I would do more but that would increase my construction costs considerably, not to mention the time involved since I work almost full time and go to school). I should be constructing most of this year's board tomorrow, but it all depends on when my buddy arrives with the labelmaker and magnetic paint. Thats right, feel free to read it again. This year I decided to construct my draft board using 1/2" by 30mm magnetic tape, I print labels using an electronic label maker(actually very quick), then I put them on the magnetic strips. Players are graded based upon scouting reports obtained from what i feel to be accurate sources in conjunction with the ratings me and my friends come up with(often after some debate). This year my grading system will have improved slightly given the amount of time I had to work on it. I will be instituting a flag system this year to denote why a guy with a higher grade may be lower on the board. Also I try to look for guys that fit our system. Its a difficult task and I applaud anyone who attempts it. Anyhow, I plan on getting a large board and painting it with magnetic paint so that I can use it year after year. I will also make labels for each team which will initially be placed in the draft order as of 3pm saturday. Once a player is picked I place their name next to the corresponding team. Im not sure if Im going to denote trades during the process, it all depends on hwo the thing comes together. My landlord really doesn't care what happens to her property as long as the tenants pay rent, so I was thinking about sanding my wall flat(its an old, crappy, plaster wall) and just making the board right on teh wall and painting over it when I leave, but I decided it would ultimately do more harm than good to create all that dust in my tiny hole-in-the-wall apartment. I may or may not have pictures after the draft, then again, Im not sure how many people would be interested in my amatuerish attempt at a draft board.
  7. Well put. Regardless of all this lito talk, the eagles have been fond of trading up to get their guy in the past. Also, if past drafts are any indication they are more likely to draft along the lines if they do so. They would then attempt to address reciever in the 2nd round. So......my guess is that philly wants to trade up to snag one of the offensive tackles on the board, just a hunch. Unless they are hoping Ellis falls and grabbing him. Hard to tell at this point, but OL is still my official guess.
  8. DRC could be a special talent, but there's no way he'll be able to blanket randy moss by December. He may be able to take him out for a few plays here and there, but it takes more than talent to be a top cornerback.
  9. Only in Buffalo does someone get publicly excited about an event because it contains a variety of junk food, followed by that sentiment being echoed by about 14 other people accompanied by suggestions for an optimal experience. Also, do not misinterpret my post. For my draft party we'll be drinking a ton of beers, grillin, celebrating last sunday a week late and ordering food from local slop shops for the other meals. One must eat a hell of a lot of food if they plan on watching the entire draft.
  10. This is a very strange draft if you ask me. Certain positions are quite deep while others are perilously thin. I think '05 was the most recent bad one, followed by '02 and 2000. In any given year there are going to be players who can improve your team, the key is selecting those players carefully. The best teams do this routinely. This requires great diligence and a constant awareness of your team, your strengths, weaknesses and exact position in the marketplace.
  11. Yeah I've seen him where I work on multiple occasions in the past year.
  12. I love Hardy, especially if hes our second round pick or we have to trade back up to secure him. Reminds me of Vincent Jackson as a prospect, except a little better plus he comes from a real conference and thus, is more proven.
  13. Damnit, I would have rather they'd taken pretty much anyone else. Although Schobel seems to have his best games against "elite" LTs. It was the safest pick IMO but perhaps not the guy with the potential to create the greatest impact over the course of his career.
  14. Sweet, two of my buddies just bought an RV, they are huge Notre Dame fans. THey got it to bring to ND games but the one guy is a Browns fan so they might bring it for the monday nighter. I was hoping we could park it there for a few days and basically keep ourselves in a semi-comatose state for a few days before kickoff.
  15. I would hardly call Jordy Nelson a sleeper at this point. In addition to all talk on here about him, he's also listed as Mayock's #5 wideout and his scouts inc grade is above a 75 I believe. Not exactly a "sleeper". Terrence McGee was a sleeper, when the bills drafted him I recall on ESPN.com they didn't even have a scouting report for him, just a page with his height, weight and school.
  16. As difficult as it is to make an accurate mock, this one is at least plausible. Also, I like the Saints trade-up, seems like they're not gonna stay put and NE always wants to trade down. Also, I would not be at all surprised if we pick sweed, especially considering all of the lip service we've given Kelly since day 1 and now Thomas. Remember, its the quiet ones you gotta watch.
  17. Who has a cooler name, McKelvin or Sweed? Both very cool. I think its important to draft guys with good football names, Marshawn and Trent I feel fit that mold. Did anyone else see that video on NFL.com where Allen Wilson predicts that we will take Brandon Flowers? If that happens I may throw up. Flowers seems like a good prospect, especially for us, but not at #11, not even close. I'd rather have the 1st reciever off the board or an additional lineman than flowers at 11. McKelvin I could get excited about, maybe, but not not Flowers. Might cancel my season tickets if that happens.
  18. All things being equal Id take sweed as the top reciever, and to be honest I dont think the wrist injury is that big of deal. Now obviously I am not a doctor, but I can't ever remember a guy having chronic wrist problems at the reciever position. Unless an F-150 rolled over it or he stuck his hand in a boat propellor I wouldn't be too worried. I like Sweed as a dark horse for our pick. Everyone likes D. Thomas, who I have no problem with , but Sweed's highlights show a world of ability, specifically the type of ability the bills are looking for in a number 2 WR.
  19. We may be able to get away with ignoring CB til the 4th if theres a guy who we have rated real high in the 3rd at a different position.
  20. The pack also could use a reciever with size, none of their guys are bigger than 6'1 I dont think. Jennings, Driver, James....none of them very big. Only Koren Robinson has any kind of size. We all know how great he is. Thinking about it, Green Bay could only go in a few directions; CB, DT, WR, maybe DE I guess. Where they are picking the best value may be at WR, nothign would surprise me. Once you get past pick 20, things become chaotic.
  21. Im sorry to be negative, but that series of events would definately put me in the tank. Id be excited for about 12 hours, then Id realize that we addressed our biggest need with a head-case who is overrated as a red-zone threat(although still a top 10 reciever) and a 5th round pick while mortgaging the future. Harvey I like, the rest of the guys I am non-commital about. I dont see any plausible way to trade for CJ, Roy Williams or any other current NFL reciever.
  22. Well I have Dish network and it is not "free", you have to subscribe to a package that has it. Recently they changed the package that it is a part of and bumped it up to the next level so now I pay $10 more a month essentially for NFL network although I do get about 50 other additional channels with the upgrade, some of which are decent, TruTV, IFC, ESPN CLassic, AMC, stuff like that. I never expect NFL network to part of a base cable package, the world would just be too good then.
  23. Yeah Jared Allen in Buffalo, a town where the bars are open til 4am, this is a match made in heaven.
  24. Groves is a bit of a workout warrior. He's also undersized, although probably a great fit at LB in 3-4 but his lack of experience is a concern. Even though he was Auburn's all-time sack leader he only had 3 last year , some question his motor and instincts, also not very good against the run.
