  1. Thanks for the plug, but like I said I ususally stay away from Bills games. One, it's hard to separate heart/head/frustration from logic and two, the Bills are too much of a jeckyl & hyde team, kinda like the Saints. Last week just happened to be my annual gut-feeling that everything would come together against an overrated NFC team (like the Redskins game last year). This game reminds me a lot of the 1st Jets game. A bit of a suspicious low spread on the road against a team that nobody really knows if they're any good or not. I don't see Koren Robinson as much of a loss - he's been a bust his whole career. Seattle's defense has been sort of feast-or-famine the last couple years. They seem to either give up a lot of points, or they get a lot of turnovers which makes them look better than they really are. I'd say the latter is more likely this week given that Drew Bledsoe in a white uniform is prominently involved. So, I would stay away but bet Seattle if I had to. If anybody reads the Sports Guy - you should know not to bet the underdogs this year unless you think there's a reasonable chance they can win the game outright. There haven't been many situations this year where the underdog has covered and lost. That's one reason I wouldn't pick the Giants this week. Well that, and Eli Manning is not God contrary to what Aikman & Collinsworth were claiming last week. A rookie QB and a terrible OL spells disaster against one of the more complex blitz-schemes in the league in Philadelphia. Also, I like Houston +1 vs. Tennessee. Rare opportunity to bet on the better team at home without giving points. It's not like the Titans have just been losing games in fluke fashion this year - they're just not that good; and people just don't realize it yet.
  2. What a punk Ron Artest is. He doesn't do anything when Ben Wallace basically punches him in the face, but when he gets a plastic cup thrown at him he's a big tough guy running thru kids and hitting somebody half his size who didn't even throw it at him. Even worse was that Stephen Jackson thug who tried to pick a fight with Coleman BEFORE the fans got involved. Not suprisingly, the NBA apologists on ESPN place zero accountability on the players. It'll be interesting to see what the reaction will be from people in the media will be who aren't in bed with David Stern. The implication that nobody would've reacted differently than Artest is ridiculous. John Saunders and Greg Anthony are trash. Why doesn't the NBA just go the whole 9 yards and get Jim Ross to call the games? Wouldn't this be more fun? "MY GOD THIS IS HEINOUS! A SOLID STEEL PLASTIC CUP TO THE FACE, ARTEST HAS TO BE KNOCKED OUT. HE CAN'T RECOVER THAT. OH MY GOD HE KICKED OUT. THERE'S A CHAIR. DAMNIT, SOMEBODY GET SOME HELP OUT HERE!
  3. I like Costas, and I guess I'm in the minority of people who don't mind Collinsworth. Marino and Carter are just horrible though.
  4. Frankly, I don't care about this next game. You know what happened the last time they lost to Memphis in a November game at MSG....
  5. I hate to put too much stock into a November game, but I really like the look of this team. May finally have that physical mean-streak to match up with Pitt and Uconn. It appears Forth has transformed from a soft liability into a competent role player. Warrick looks a lot more unselfish - he used to shoot every time he got the ball; he didn't force anything tonight but he still took over the game when the time was right. The defense is obviously solid. When Edelin comes back, they get some penetration ability and there won't be many weaknesses on this team.
  6. Love the Bills this week. I agree it's one of the best plays on the board. Faulk won't be able to run it and Holt is questionable, and the Rams suck on the road as mentioned previously. I don't know if we roll them like the Cardinals, but should be similar to the Jets game a couple weeks ago. BTW - I have stayed away from every other Bills game this year. I just like this game a lot.
  7. What's wrong with what he said? I'd be gone already if in my 9 year career I rode the bench for 2 years and played for stevestojanty QB's in my other 7 years.
  8. I don't completely disagree with your premise - but this particular game was for all practical purposes sold out before the season. I got my tix in July and there were mostly just single-seats available.
  9. I can see the ABC exec's sitting around in a room: "We need a star player on one of these teams to promote this show. What do you think?" "How about Chad Lewis or Vinny T?" "No - they're white - we have to make the black athlete look bad". "OK - we'll settle for Terrel Owens". Good take - it makes a lot of sense.
  10. Just picked up Madden this week. How do you run the ball? I'm 2-0 in the preseason playing on All-Pro, but I can't run the ball to save my life. I try to not hit speed burst right away and follow my blocks and all that. Do you hit juke/stiff arm when you're trying to get thru the line? What works best?
  11. 17 points on the road.... McGee might return one kick to the house, but two?
  12. Anyways, I feel strongly the Bills will win this game. It has a lot of that last year's Redskins-game: "media & fans are trashing the team, so we'll get fired up and play a perfect game vs. an overrated NFC team at home" vibe to it. Of course this happens every year, and we'll get destroyed in Seattle the following week.
  13. Sweet - I always hated having to go to 2 different stores to get my Starburst and Lawn Mower.
  14. Exactly - I didn't hear about it either until several months ago.
  15. Yeh I know that's why the Rams didn't do anything. Other teams would've done the same. But shame on Paul Tagliabue for being such a coward; and on the media for acting like TO (who I can't stand) is the worst guy in the world.
  16. Seriously though, what a scumbag piece of crap... How is he still in the league? And why aren't more people outraged about it?
  17. He just might if Drew drives to the game.
  18. Actually, the outrage over the whole Janet Jackson deal was one of the few things the left & right agreed with each other. The PC crowd is out of hand, and both parties are to blame.
  19. As Artie Lang said on Stern this morning, I was more offended by George Lopez in the booth.
  20. I just think there's too many holes to turn everything around in one year. Pass-rusher, FS, OL, and the much needed TE that you mentioned. And that's assuming Losman pans out, which is no sure thing. And then there's coaching. I'm not as down on Mularkey as many are, but as long as Belichek is in our division, we're going to get oucoached in these big games.
  21. This is my worst fear as well. It's like Miami in the mid '90s - you knew that by the time they got a decent defense, Marino would be gone. Hell the Bills defense in the mid-late 90's was better than the SB teams'.
  22. I have heard this more than once and I must disagree. When you look around the league, homefield really doesn't mean much anymore unless your QB is Drew Bledsoe. Maybe JP will get rattled away from home because he is a rookie, but there will actually be less pressure on him for a road game. Besides, the Seahawks good home record not withstanding, Seattle, Miami, Cincy, and SF are all relatively weak in terms of crowd noise.
  23. My bad - I forgot about that rule that anybody who is on my Fantasy team HAS to get injured: McNair, Tomlinson, McAllister, Heap, and now Holt. Maybe I should trade for Tom Brady?
  24. Has anybody noticed - does Clements always cover the other team's #1 WR? If they put him on Holt, then Bruce could have a huge game. I think they'd be better off putting Nate on Bruce and doubling Holt.
