  1. Can't argue with any of that.
  2. They have tried screen passes. What I don't understand is, when you watch any other team, the screen usually beats the blitz. With the Bills, the opponent can blitz and there's still 4 guys covering the RB in the flat. Plus there's double coverage on Moulds downfield....Hell, Ryan Neufeld was double teamed on one play. It just seems like there's 18 defenders on the field. But yeah, throw more crossing stuff over the middle. JP obviously cannot throw the out.
  3. Save the team? No. I'll settle for a 50% completion % or a 200 yd game once in a while.
  4. Seriously, the guy was a dope with the media and had atrocious special teams... But somehow won 10-11 games with an OL that was just as bad as our current one, Flutie at QB, Anotwain Smith at RB, a LB core consisting of John Hollicek and Sam Rodgers, plus Thomas Smith and Ken Irvan on the corners. I actually thought those 98-99 teams had above average talent at the time, but probably not in retrospect.
  5. Clearly. I also don't think it's fair to judge Holcomb when he's only played in obvious passing situations from behind on the road. It's the equivalent of evaluating JP's performance in NE last year.
  6. Meh, I'm tired of arguing about these lame play-calling complaints. Penalties - I agree. Moulds - I agree. GET 2 HANDS ON THE F***ING BALL. McGee - his return was amazing for the most part, but didn't it look like he was TRYING to get tackled at the end? Running around the guy laying on the ground should've been the easiest part of the return - WTF. Lindell - Give him a break. The kick he "NEEDS" to make? I don't see how that kick was any more important than any of the kicks he made in the previous 3 games. I'm a "pessimist" and I thought they'd be 3-1 at this point. Granted the NFC South is better than anyone thought. It figures that we cross over with that division this year when every other division in the NFC is a joke. Oh well, maybe this year we actually win the games that matter in our division?
  7. As bleak as things look right, I'll co-sign that. These 2 home division games are the season. Play Holcomb and if we win both, see what happens from there. If we lose 1, then we can call it a season and get JP some experience for the rest of the year.
  8. Just saw the slow-mo on Primetime... Looked like a TD.
  9. In case you're scoring at home, that's 3 games that Clements has lost according to the Bar Stool Pundits. Like I said last week, lets just hire Tom Osborne as coach and run the Wing-T offense. You don't have to throw the ball in the NFL to win. Never mind that we threw the ball 15 times in 3 Qtrs, or the fact that our dominant running game couldn't pick up a yard on 2 chances when it really mattered.
  10. Cunningham had thrown more than 5 career passes entering the 1998 season.
  11. Yep, all of those were pretty bad. The Falcons game reminded me a little of the '03 Eagles game (the week after the Sunday night debacle in Miami) when the offense couldn't score with Philly's 3 best DB's not playing - Vincent, Taylor, and Dawkins. Granted we couldn't run the ball in that game like we did vs. Atlanta, but still sickening for such a veteran QB not to take advantage of that. Same thing with Flutie in '99 vs. the Giants. It seems the only way an NFC team can beat us in our stadium is if they have practice squad players in the secondary.
  12. Yeah, I don't know what more evidence you need to subscribe to the "Drew plays well his first 8 games with his new team before going into the tank" theory. If I'm the Ravens or sombody I'd consider signing him around November next year.
  13. I loved how the announcer said they should punt with 1 minute left and 1 timeout
  14. Saints - 23 Bills - 18
  15. The Steelers pass D was not good at all that year.
  16. Yeah, I noticed that too but was too chicken to bring it up. Surprised he didn't mention Rodney Peete or Jeff Blake.
  17. As many things as I don't like about JP so far, I like the fact that "once he sees people in his face he wants to get the ball out of his hands". That's a bad attribute for a QB? What am I missing Charles Grant?
  18. Yeah, it seems we have this discussion every year. Of course there are other mitigating factors and a GM should not be graded strictly on the team's record, but each year we whiff the playoffs it gets harder and harder to defend him. Are we still going to be blaming John Butler in 2009?
  19. Agreed... People tend to go overboard when the Bills lose and look to blame people/things that aren't really to blame. The playcalling being a fine example. The OL (which I should point out NEEDS an upgrade if we ever want to be SB caliber) being another in last week's case. When you compare the ATL game to the Houston game, the only differences were defense, and JP's accuracy in the 1st half. That's it.
  20. They mostly shot themselves in the foot vs. the Giants & Vikings. Granted they have a habit of doing that, but if they decide not to this game, it's going to be very tough. I don't think it's a great matchup because although they have weaknesses elsewhere, they're good on both sides of the line; so they're pretty much the opposite of the Bills. Also, McAllister could have a big game receiving with Spikes out and a gimpy Fletcher. I also get the feeling that it's going to be one of the more jacked up crowds in recent memory.
  21. Constantly? That's just not true. Perhaps you've missed the fifty 8-yd out patterns that have been thrown over WR's heads the last two weeks. And I don't remember anyone bitching about throwing downfield vs. Houston when they completed the deep strike to Evans on the first posession.
  22. So the QB isn't finding the open man and that's the coach's fault?
  23. Sunny - Granted, Collins got a few games under his belt in '96 when Kelly was injured, but yes, Todd Collins started '97 better than JP has this year. He threw for 300 yds (granted an unimpressive largely garbage time 300, but still...) vs. Minnesota on opening day and beat the Jets on the road in week 2 which included a nice deep ball TD to Quinn Early. I mean, he was a horrible QB and they had the worst 3rd down conversion rate in NFL history that year, but he did make a play or 2, which is a play or 2 more than JP has made at this point.
  24. I think Bledsoe and JP both suck. I don't think JP sucking more than I thought he was going to suck necessarily means that Bledsoe sucks any less.
