  1. This is great news. Now i hope they can finally get back to wearing dark jersey's and white pants at home again. It looks so much more professional than blue/blue.

For some reason the Bills refuse to put any logo or identifier on their jersey's. I hope they add something to the jersey with this uniform tweak.

Keep an eye out on this thread from this logo site message board. If any picture is leaked, these guys are always first to pounce on it and post it.

  2. I started a similar thread a few weeks ago. I was not ripping on the Spiller pick but was pointing to another example of how late round and FA RB's can be very productive.

As for Starks' 3.2ypc after the Philly game, it's not surprising. Very few teams ran the ball against Atlanta and Chicago and several of those carries were late game or short yardage obvious running situations. I don't expect him to tear up the Steelers either. You're not usually going to have a killer YPC average against solid defensive teams like those three. I don't think Spiller's average would be any better. I do agree with the comparison to Freddie Jackson, except Starks has more breakway speed.

  3. I'm not giddy for Kaepernick but i do think he has some game. I recall last summer hearing some ESPN analysts talking about him being the best QB in this years class and no one ever pays attention to him out in Nevada. Well, i guess now people are paying attention. Either Gailey is smoke-screening or he really wants a QB with good mobility. I'm sure Kap, Newton and Gabbert are all on the table. The Bills would be foolish not to take a QB in the 1st or 2nd round imo.

As for Ponder, he looked better than i thought he would in the game. Standing on the sidelines he looked exactly like the Joe Pendleton character (played by Warren Beatty in the 1970's movie "Heaven Can Wait"). Yeah- i probably dated myself with that reference!

  4. I usually kinda' like the Pro Bowl for what it is...just a bunch of great NFL players having some fun. Last night was the worst ever though. Watching Kyle Williams just stand there was embarassing for him and the league (yes, i know he was not the only one not trying). EVen the NHL All-Star game was much more entertaining to me,,,,even though that does not resemble a regular NHL game.

The one thing the NFL did good imo was move the Pro Bowl to the off week b/f the Super Bowl. To me the last play of the Super Bowl should end the entire NFL season.

I think they do need to do away with the Pro Bowl but i can see them stealing the NHL idea and doing some sort of fantasy draft to drum up interest and competitiveness.

  5. I still contend that the Bills have gotten more mileage (publicity) out of losing 4 SB's than most teams get for winning. I mean you hardly ever hear about the Bucs or Ravens winning and every year there are countless references to those Buffalo Bills from the early 90's (most good some negative).

The thing that really sucks about the SB years is that the Bills always dominated the NFC...except for the Big game. That makes me feel like we were outcoached when it really counted which is a slight against Levy and his staff..

  6. Wow, what a great play call on 4th and 1.

Chan destroying Marvin Lewis so far

No surprise there. Bills crews always dominates the Bengals no matter who is coaching. I will take Chan Gailey's offensive mind over anything Marvin Lewis can throw out there. Chan and his staff have coached up his QBs so far.

  7. I like that GB squashes the myth that a finesse type offense (and a California QB) cannot function in a cold weather city and be Championship caliber. Let's face it, GB passes to set up the occasional run. They are a passing team first and foremost. Starks has been a nice addition and can grind out the occasional first down but they are not yet in Pittsburgh's league running the ball. Should be a fun Super Bowl though.

  8. I always believed the three most important factors in winning a football game and also having a winning formula for the season are:

    1) Turnover ratio (both offense and defense)

    2) 3rd down conversion % (offense)

    3) pressure on the opposing QB without having to blitz (defense)

So having said that...both the O and D are equally important imo. You need an above average O just to get to the final 4 in the NFL. Having an above average to very good D will push you over the hump to win the SB.

  9. Good. Hope he gets some players here who have been to the playoffs. Even if they are a bit past their prime, getting players to Buffalo that have experienced some WINNING will be a good thing. Too many Bills players have never experienced anything remotely close to playoffs and have no idea what it takes to get there.
