You can't. When they issued a mandatory evacuation, they are basicaly saying, we may not be able to help you once the storm hits. Thats why they do it.
I heard an interview earlier with a guy from FEMA. When being told about instances such as this he stated how they weren't able to see what the people at home were seeing because they didn't have electricity. I can't understand how FEMA and the Nat. Guard cannot work with the media to pinpoint some of the more desperate areas.
If its the same report I think it is, his point was that even if you made it to the ramp or the Superdome you weren't out of the woods yet because there were no medical personel or water when they arrive.
Subtract tthe 10,000 in who took shelter in the Superdome and that leaves 86,000 folks left in the flood waters. Thats pretty scary numbers and I believe the death toll could easily climb into the thousands.
The Saints play in Oakland on Thursday night. So this weekend isn't much of a problem. As for opening day I would imagine they will see what happens in the next couple of days before making a decision, however it's highly unlikely they would play in N.O.
I just heard an interview with a guardsmen on the radio, he said there were several hundred people on roof tops waiting to be rescued. this could get really ugly.
I totally agree with you on that one Scribo. I have yet to see this offense in a "groove" yet and thats making me a bit nervous. Having said that, did anyone who watched the game last night think the Jags were crazy having their first string offense in during that monsoon?
