  1. Seriously! I've heard so many people ask why there's dinosaurs in this movie. I'm friggin' 16 and have never seen King Kong, and I at least knew there were dinosaurs! And by the way, MikeG, the effects are NOT finished.
  2. I believe I heard somewhere that the noise the tripods made is actually in Close Encounters at one point. I would love to get a nice clear MP3 file of that noise, that would make a sweet cell phone ringer! By the way, not only was Gene Barry in this version, the female leading role in the 53 film (played by Ann Robinson), was also in the film. They were the in laws at the end.
  3. LMAO! And I agree with you there. I'd rather have a heavy fine then having to be labeled sex offender. That's a tough thing to live with. When people hear "sex offender", they don't care to know what you've done, they just want to stay away from you.
  4. Are you referring to the noise the tripods made? That was spooky.
  5. I don't think so...
  6. Oh man, I wanna go to that game!
  7. You're right, Jeff Wayne's version is in the 70s. There is going to be a WOTW version (very low budget I will assume) in 2007 that features this music.
  8. Not at all in my opinion, there are very clear similarities between the book and the film.
  9. I meant by the major plotlines. The main theme of the book and the movie are definitely the same, and the ending in the book is virtually the same. Also, the seen where Cruise and Robbins are fighting in the basement is simlar to the seen where the main character in the book is buried in the house with the other guy (I know it wasn't Ogilvy though). The heat wave was retained as well, which I was very happy about. And the ferry scene is like the water scene in the book, just on a much larger scale.
  10. Well, Williams didn't do the score for that, but that was a made for TV movie. There's a regular Spielberg film that Williams didn't score.
  11. Good thought, it's a given now that if it's Spielberg, it's Williams. Williams will do every Spielberg film until he dies. In fact, he's done every Spielberg full length feature film, except one. TRIVIA: Which one was it?
  12. I don't see using one of the great composers of our time as a critical error. I have the John Williams score, and it's pretty enjoyable. No where near his best, but I liked it. It sounds great in the movie though.
  13. No, it's a completely new John Williams score.
  14. We's got some difference of opinion. Other than the change of location, they stayed pretty true to the book, which was nice to see for a change.
  15. What did ya guys think? As much as I enjoyed Batman, this was the movie event of the summer. The film was awesome, and stayed pretty true to the book. Fantastic!
  16. A few comments on what people have said. Take the public transportation for sure! Take the subway, known as the T. Very cheap and it'll get you anywhere. Also, what's been said about the 4th down there is true, except the skipping it part! Tons of crowds, although it's great to go there. If you decide to go there, bring a blanket and grab some food. I suggest going to the Cambridge side to watch the fireworks, less people, and you can still hear the music. There used to be speakers on the Cambrige side, but last year they stopped putting them there, but you can still hear the music from the speakers across the river. However, if you're hotel is within reasonable walking distance, just walk to the Boston side and stake your ground there. That way, you won't have to bother driving, or taking the T, back to the hotel, which is a complete disaster.
  17. I'd prefer white, but blue is okay. I need size 50 or 52. Please help me out and let me know a price!
  18. They certainly did last year.
  19. She'll really enjoy shopping at Quincy Market. Also, if you've never been whale watching, it's a great place to do it. Legal Seafoods (right downtown by the aquarium) is a great place for seafood. We go for the 4th every year, but are not going this year. Make sure you see the fireworks on the Charles River!
  20. I agree. SPR is one of the modern greats in my opinion.
  21. Well put. You go for the cool and effects and awesome lightsabre fights.
  22. Exactly! I love some of the relaly good movies, but I also really enjoy ones that may not be considered good, but I very entertaining. I don't go to see movies to challenge my mind, I go to be entertained for a few hours.
