  1. Yeah, I saw it and the first thing that crossed my mind was, "ok, what slight can they leavy against the Bills this time". But I was pleasantly surprised it was neither demeaning or condescending like that claymation commercial from last year...
  2. After Delucca...
  3. Happens alot in movies too. THey sometimes (I forget why) mirror image the film, probably happened here too...
  4. THey forgot that dreadfull "Peaches" song. THe one with the lyrics that took the guy less than ten minutes to write...
  5. My God, I can't believe I got sucked back into this one. SnR, I totally agree. This is how urban legends get started, and fact get mangled up. For the record: 1. The people doing the arresting/tasing were REAL LIVE POLICE OFFICERS not rent-a-cops. They have them on most large colleges. 2. The kid got tased because he was resisting the cops and not cooperating. Not because he didn't have his ID. Not surprising, the other students interviewed would take the side of the college kid due to the tramatic nature of the scene they had just witnessed. And we all know it's fun to blame the big bad stormtroopers for abusing a poor, defenseless college sweetheart who was just exercising his right to resist direct orders from a law enforcement officer, right? 3. A police officer is NOT legally bound to stop in the middle of an arrest with a dangerous situation and politely give out his name and badge number to people not associated with the situation. The girl in the video is threatened because the cop felt she was getting to close, and told her to get back. Jesus Christ people, get over it. The cops are most likely going to be found not guilty and this will all be over. The sweetheart already is on record saying that he didn't think he should have to listen to the police because he THOUGHT they were picking on him because of his race. This is simply a case of a smartass little punk getting what he deserved for acting like a jackass to the cops. If you get stopped by the police tonight, I invite you to try the same tact. Stay in your car, resisit the instructions given to you, and I guarantee you will get tased too. I think the kid should get his ass convicted of resisting arrest and thrown in jail. There is direct evidence of this on the tape. Then maybe people will stop thinking the rules don't apply to them and listen to the police. God knows, I am no fan of the cops. But even I can see this is not abuse. If you people can't then I can't help you. A man's perception is reality, and I have found that people only see what they want to see...
  6. A bit melodramatic don't you think? But I understand what you are trying to say. But I don't agree, if anything, we are going in the opposite direction. Which is kind of bad, I must admit, because I wouldn't mind seeing dumbasses take a beating for stepping out of line once in a while. And if he would have just gotten up, and been cool, no more tasing. Anyways, I'm done with this subject. Everyone has thier own ideas, and no one is going to convince anyone.
  7. with all due respect, are you suggesting the people watching should have attacked the police? If I was there personally, I would have yelled, "STOP RESISTING YOU FUGGIN RETARD" to the idiot making a scene. I think that is EXACTLY the problem, the guy was fighting back/resisting. He said he would leave and remained on the floor. Sadly, this whole event could have been avoided by the dumbass in question just COMPLING WITH THE RULES, AND FOLLOWING THE DIRECTIONS OF THE POLICE. I am not sure how the people "outraged" by this keep avoiding this very easy solution to the problem...
  8. I know, isn't it awful? The nerve of the Stormtroopers to actually expect you to obey their commands. How racist! And for the record, University PD are definitely NOT rent-a-cops. They are actual Police officers, which means you might want to not piss them off and do what they request of you. The sad part of this story? None of this would have happened had this innocent soul just followed Chris Rock's advice:
  9. Ah yes, the inevitable has happened. "I didn't have to show them my ID because the evil stormtroopers were picking on me because I look like an arab". http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20061117/ap_on_...student_stunned A real class act, this guy. Sorry Johnny and the rest. I believe that the guy was acting like a jerk. He didn't follow the rules. He got tazed for not following directions. After he got tazed, he still refused to cooperate. I am sure the people watching got upset. It didn't look like a pretty scene. I bet none of them try to buck up to the police in the future either. And as far as giving badge numbers and IDs? Sure, the people have a right to have them. Once the perp is subdued. Does anyone really think the cops are going to stop in the middle of an arrest to comply with citizens requests to have thier badge numbers? Please. This jerkoff totally got what he deserved. But at least he got the attention he so obviously wanted...
  10. Nice. Except for the tattoo. I know I am in the minority here, but I think tattoos look like schitt on a woman. Where you can readily see them, that is. I just don't get the whole fad...
  11. OMG that was awesome! How much clearer could the officer have been there? The stupid cow didn't follow directions. He TOLD her he would do it. She totally deserved that. So how bout it leftists? Did this poor, innocent woman get brutalized by the evil cops here too?
  12. I guess he won't forget his fuggin ID again...
  13. Pretty much anything Catchescannonballs says can be assumed to be B.S. TRUST ME, there are no drug abusers getting livers unless they are super duper rich like David Crosby...
  14. Welcome to the board. Of course, I'm not an expert. But I have direct experience in the selection process, which means I likely know more than you. So there...
  15. If you haven't read it, I suggest "Guns of the South" by Turtledove. Good for an afternoon read...
  16. article from the NHL page? I actually wrote in on that as well. The nerve, placing the Sabre below the Ducks. Bah!
  17. History of mud eh? Scintillating stuff, I am sure. I love Dune so much, I am willing to read the new stuff to somewhat flesh out the story a bit. The pre-prequel stuff about the thinking machines was pretty good. BTW, many other Frank Herbert books which have been out of print forever are being re-published. So you can read "The White Plauge" . I am looking forward to getting a new copy of "Hellstrom's Hive" so I don't have to defile my mint first edition. It's next to my first print, minty fresh Dune...
  18. I wanted to stay out of this one, but this troll is sooooo wrong it's actually funny. Trust me, they most certainly do not give transplants to drug addicts and drunks. There is an extensive screening process, complete with psycoanalysis to judge you stable enough to go through the process. I would know, I have a transplant. Sorry to re-hijack the hijacked thread...
  19. Very surprised to hear that Tom. I would have thought that series would have been right up your alley. Those novels are certainly not for the mildly interested, or those who speed read. I found myself having to read and reread portions in each book. While God Emperor of Dune is not my favorite book, it does advance the story. I suppose it makes much more sense once you read the other two stories, but it seems you have already given up on that. Ah well, Dune is not for everyone. I wouldn't go so far as to say that Herbert and Anderson are hacks. They certainly aren't Frank Herbert, and are not so foolish as to attempt to mimic his writing style. They have thier uses, but I would not really be that interested in reading any of thier non-Dune material. I have read some of Anderson's Star Wars stuff and was not impressed. Then again, it's hard to follow Zahn too. I read so little fiction these days. I think you would like "Riding Rockets" by Mike Mullane...
  20. There is a new Dune novel out. Written from the allegeded Dune 7 outline Herbert left before his death. Hunters of Dune
  21. Thurman played, but got hurt and had to leave in the first half...
  22. Because the only thing a teenage boy likes more than doing the teacher, is bragging about it to his friends...
