  1. I agree that he seems to be losing it, but the whole "what's his name..." stuff could be a thinly veiled dig, saying the guy doesn't even rate me remembering his damn name.
  2. Thank you, gents! Does it count if I feel at least 50? No promises, MarkAF43. Great links, Steely one. And outstanding word, Cincy. I may have to use that one a bit more.
  3. No, I am not talking about the "most anticipated vice-presidential candidate debate in history." I am asking about "America's Game: The Missing Rings," which airs for the first time tonight at 10. As TBD's very own Tim Graham puts, it was the "most agonizing night" of my sporting life. I think I have to watch because the commercials promise interviews with my childhood heroes and insight not told before. But it is going to hurt. Will you or won't you watch?
  4. Not saying this link necessarily says what was alleged, as I don't fully understand what AL means by "not the coaches," but it seems they he is saying the coaches didn't want Moss. Either way, this is as close as I can find: San Jose Mercury News reports from after Raider Nation... -Q: Why did you trade Moss if you knew he was good? -DAVIS: They didn’t want him. -Q: They? -DAVIS: Not the coaches. They were coming in brand new. That was a big thing on their minds. Plus, you know how many teams turned him down. That guy in Green Bay thought he couldn’t run any more. Even Denver, where they’ll take anybody, turned him down. But what’s his name knew he could run, he’s a friend of Belichick’s. Mike Lombardi. Mike sold what’s his name, Belichick, on the idea that he could run. They tampered with him. I remember Bob Kraft saying that he had to look him in the eye and all that. They went down and worked him out, he could run. He’s their team, of course, with the quarterback. Also found this comment interesting and somewhat relevant to this conversation: Q: Who did Kiffin want to draft instead of JaMarcus? -DAVIS: There were several. Every day it was different, that’s the thing. He didn’t want Russell. At one time he wanted Brady Quinn. At one time Calvin Johnson. At one time to trade it.
  5. I agree with both your posts, the one quoted here and the one about there being nothing objectionable in Dr. Z's comments on the Bills this week. It seems we are so use to complaining about what was written, some complain without even reading what was actually written this time.
  6. I think it is more about consistency. It is incredible impressive when any team can consistently play at a high level for a long period of time. Five weeks would be an impressive period.
  7. Outstanding catch! It's amazing a major error in fact such as that could make it through the editing process. And is it amazing no one else here, myself included, caught that.
  8. That was going to be my suggestion...maybe next game, try to talk to the other coach before kickoff, during warm-ups perhaps. Horse-collars should be banned in youth competition...along with aluminum bats. You were going to recommend I be a man or that I talk to the other coach? Either way, I have an aluminum bat for the other coaches. I really like this idea and will move forward with it today. Thanks! Of course, this team we just played saw what was going on and didn't bench their guys. I did that in my latest e-mail to the commish, but he hasn't responded. I think this figures no one is going to get hurt so he isn't worried about it. That probably has a lot to do with the fact he doesn't have children. If he did, he'd know that knowingly putting children at unnecessary and avoidable risk is never OK. This situation has two parts. First, the horse-collar tackling. I agree, there was nothing they could do about it. But they continually missed post-play tackles and even punches thrown away from plays. I've reffed at this level and older kids. I know how difficult it is, but refs must be able to see enough to keep control of the game and ensure the players' safety. Believe me, I very badly wanted to do just that. But I have to do what's best for the kids in this case. I figure the a-holes will get theirs eventually. But, damn, I couldn't talk to anyone for about three or four minutes after that, as I had to force my self to simmer on the inside and not explode. That is always a good way to go. It is partially what I do for a living these days, and it is a very effective way to force change. I will consider it, but I have three young sons (9, 1 and 7 wks), and they all are going to want to play in this league.
  9. Don't you know that alcohol is more powerful than cocaine and heroin?
  10. Thank you for the link. It is important we go over to check out Chris Brown's page, as it is the only way the team sees that he is getting his job done and reaching us. I wonder how much the Boldin situation will play into this decision. No Boldin would seemingly make no McGee more bearable.
  11. It isn't insulting to the Bills. We all know the WNY market is smaller than Boston, Dallas, etc. It also says we're going to win the division. It says the Bills are a shining example of what's right with the salary camp.
  12. Prison sentences are much like the Las Vegas line. They are set to try to even things out. There is a whole lot of money in drugs. If the penalties aren't very steep, they won't deter criminals from taking the risk to make all that money. Yes, we need the DEA and drugs are still among the biggest problems law enforcement can be looking into. Any one saying otherwise does not understand everything that is linked to illegal drug use.
  13. I wholeheartedly agree that everyone needs to recognize there is only ONE New York NFL team, but this article is very positive toward our beloved Bills.
  14. Serious stuff. Based on that vague article, it looks like he could get about 20 years. Life if it was crack cocaine.
  15. True enough, but I don't have a problem with aliens.
  16. The Associated Press reports... Belichick is declining comment on a tampering accusation leveled against his team by Raiders owner Al Davis. Randy Moss also declined comment Wednesday. Al Davis is on the warpath...
  17. Noted. But isn't it spheroidal?
  18. Bingo! It was a dirty team, punching and pinching in the piles, the whole deal. I have to believe something like starts with the coach. I nearly lost it after the refs told me they could do anything about it and it continued. I actually went out to midfield while another one of my backs was being helped off the field and asked the opposing coach to come speak with me. He wouldn't and one of his assistant coaches yelled at me from his sideline "to be a man" and let the "players play the game." I looked at the ref, who heard it, and the ref said to me, "If you go over there, I am going to have to suspend the game." I didn't want to do that to the kids or make any scene. The officials were worthless, telling us they could only see so much of the field at a time. But I really want to keep this thread about horse-collar tackling. Thanks for the feedback.
  19. Thanks, circular adult beverage. I love it...and hate it:
  20. San Jose Mercury News Columnist Tim Kawakami reports... Al Davis, after the cameras were off DAVIS: Here’s what I would say: When Shanahan left me, he went to Denver. He was there for about four or five years as an assistant and they fired him for insubordination. Dan Reeves and he had a big battle. He went to the 49ers and he learned their style of football and when Dan Reeves failed in Denver, the first guy they had was Wade Phillips, I think… then he brought Shanahan back. And Shanahan had success. But Shanahan has an asterisk next to those two Super Bowls, because they were caught cheating." Say what you want about Davis being crazy and all, but it appears the reporters in the room did not challenge Davis, which in journalism, is pretty close to endorsing what was said. I found one link, but it doesn't mention the Super Bowl: Yahoo! Sports apologizes for alleging Denver cheated Any one else hear of such allegations?
  21. Thanks. My league commissioner got back to me and said that "with some luck" they will have the rule in place by next season. Way too long in my opinion.
  22. I hope he can turn it around, and he better as it is already too late to trade him.
  23. The Bills are the first of the three with the next really tough game (Chargers). But we can get through that, The Jints could fall to the Stillers and the Tacks to the Colts.
  24. That is going to be one crazy three-day party.
