  1. Somewhere right now, probably in Switzerland or Austria, there is a physical fitness guru who has unorthodox but highly effective views and approaches to health, diet, and physical fitness.

If he was retained by the Bills, he would lower our rate of injury by 40%, and speed our rate of recovery by 50%.

The trick is finding the guy and convincing him to live in Buffalo.

I imagine we are using traditional meatheads who come from the world of football and only know how to do conventional, football things.

Also while on the topic: I will GUARANTEE the team has limited, effective control over player diet, if any at all.

These guys are paid millions of dollars to be finely tuned machines. A whole bunch of them are not.

The ones who are tend to be the special ones who take that work upon themselves.

It should be consistent across the board and mandated by the team.

So you're saying to hire Richard Simmons to implement the "Sweatin' To the Oldies: NFL Version" training plan?

  2.

He's an oil guy. So ... yes ... he just wants to make money.

No one is denying that he spent a crap load of money. Personally, I'm questioning what his investment goal was. Winning does not seem to be what he had in mind. And the team isn't winning. However, I do recall a record number of season tickets being sold.

He didn't get that rich by being stupid or making unwise investments.

He's in a market that doesn't offer a hell of a lot more than football during football season. The Bills don't have to be good (i.e. win more than 8 games) in order for people to pony up to go to the games. As long as there is some "excitement" and a glimmer of hope, Bills fans will whip out the checkbooks.

I mean absolutely no offense in saying this to you John, but it's fans like you that owners like Pegula and Ralph Wilson feast upon. And there's enough fans like you who can afford to buy season tickets, so owners like Pegs/RCW have no incentive to put a quality product on the field.

And that, my friend, is why the Bills haven't seen the post season in 17 years.

I sincerely doubt that winning isn't their goal at OBD.You don't think that winning sells tickets? Nothing provides hope like winning. I think the only thing you can blame Pegs for is the staff he hired/kept.

  3.

You forgot to mention his ability to get his receivers labeled.

Then why hasn't Buffalo implemented the Single Wing yet?

    Check this out:

We can debate whether the play-calls are for short passes or the QB is throwing short, but it's most likely a combination of both. Yet, TT is completing less than 46% of his passes beyond 11 yards. He has attempted all of 20 throws over the middle of the field out of 268 attempts. And he's a mere 10-33 for 398 yards on passes beyond 21 yards. Furthermore, two-thirds of TT's throws are to the right or left sideline.

Something is not right here and while no one can know the play calls, there hasn't been a lot of improvement for a QB who's in his 2nd year with this offense.

QB's in low risk, low reward systems don't get teams to the playoffs. He could run for 1,000 yards and it wouldn't make a difference.

If we had more consistency from the right tackle, I'd be surprised that they weren't rolling the pocket out more. Hopefully Henderson comes back and he's ready to play. If he can do a better job in pass pro than Millsy it should open up some more plays across the middle for Taylor.

  4.

That's my favorite part of the scenario. Apparently, if the Jets were to cut Revis, we could sign him for the league minimum and the Jets would have to pay him the rest of the $6 million owed to him while he plays in a Bills uni. What an awesome possibility.

I don't know if Revis would be a good safety but the cost of the experiment would not be high.

I think this is the point. Seems like a pretty reasonable deal to me.

  5. If you're going to demand running stats from a QB as part of the analysis, be prepared to explain the injuries that come with it. TT himself was injured and missed 2 games last season in the Tennessee game when he ran.

The QB's who survive and win in the NFL do so with their arm, not scrambling around into the teeth of a defense. There are exceptions like the 250# Cam Newton and Russell Wilson, who now is very much a passer first. TT is not, nor demonstrated the week to week ability to read defenses and make crucial throws when it matters most.

Tannehill is average and overpaid. My sense is that's TT's ceiling as well. And neither Miami or Buffalo are going anywhere this year. After 4 seasons apprenticing in Baltimore and 23 NFL starts, one would hope TT would rank better than the 25th or worse in the NFL for completions, completion %, yards passing, and yards/attempt.

He ain't getting paid to run.

Of course he is getting paid to run. He is a short QB who makes up for his lack of height by moving around behind the LOS and keeping defenses honest with his feet.
  6.

That -may- be the case. But wrt rushing TD, they're simply not sustainable...ask cam newton. To be a long-term guy, you gotta be a pocket passer. When forced to be such, TT has withered on the vine.

So your issue is with running QBs in general. I tend to agree that it's not really a sustainable path, but judging from what I've seen the guy is never going to turn into Jim Kelly. He doesn't have the height and field vision to be a full time pocket passer. Personally, I think I think the best hope is that TT watches tape on Drew Brees and rolls out as much as possible, that's his cap IMHO.

That's it. No legitimate take, no numbers to back anything up. Just the usual low-quality John From Hemet response we've all come to know.

Here are some numbers you can respond to,Joe:

    Blended 2015-2016 stats:

    QB Taylor Tannehill
    CMP 404 539
    ATT 648 851
    CMP% 62% 63%
    Pass Yds 4804 6325
    Pass Avg 7.41%. 7.43%
    Pass TD 30 34

    Rush Yds 930 232
    Rush TDs 8 2
    Total Yds 5734 6557
    Total TDs 38 36
I am not even saying that I think TT is the long term solution, but you are intentionally not giving the guy a fair shake.
  8. Flutie was unsustainable as a long term option at QB, I always felt he was a gimmick that defenses were starting to figure out at the end of 99. I wasn't a fan, but he did provide some exciting football.

But not for nothing, a little less of that Flutie Magic in 1998 could have let to a better draft pick in 1999, which happened to be the McNabb/Culpepper year. Plus I wouldn't still have that Antoine Winfield jersey in my closet.

Really wish I could paste a table in here.

  10. And why not include last years stats if you have been hearing about it for years?

  11. My kids were those Florida kids! With any luck, you'll get heat stroke at the field and never have to stand on the blacktop sweltering for 45 minutes to go on a 2 minute ride. (Fast Pass is worth every penny!) We waited till our kids were a little older. There are death squads in FL who prey on the weak. Ever see an AAU hoops team shut out? Our team did that to another, and it was painful on the winning side. And we were just slightly above average. I hope you have a great experience, seriously. They may do well, but many prefer to just remember the pizzas around the pool. That was my favorite part as a dad. Kids having the time of their life at night in a lit pool.

I'm told my wife I wouldn't even enter the state until fast pass was purchased! Maybe I'll volunteer to be the "Epcot Dad", lol.

As for the sports side, fortunately my kids stick to baseball We would certainly be a long shot to win, my hope is just like to see them compete. We won a Ripken tourney with against a few nationally ranked teams, and I think that if our pitching shows up we'll be respectable. But you're right, the kids care more about the park/pool/hotel tag than about any tournament. As curmudgeonly as I seem, I'll have a very good time.

  12. My son has 2 hockey games on Sunday. The first one is in Manchester which is about a 40 minute drive to my south. The second on is in south Burlington, which is about 2 hours north of Manchester. My son is 6.

What the hell did we sign up for with this travel hockey stuff?!

Sucker, lol. My son was 8 before I got tricked into signing him up for travel baseball. We're going to play in Disney next summer, yay!. I can't wait to suffer through heat stroke watching our boys get roughed up against the Florida kids that play 24/7/52/365. Then I get to go to a crappy ride populated overcrowded 99% dry amusement park, HOOOOOOORAY!

But this Sunday I'm going fishing...

  13.

The proposition was for an additional hotel tax, such that local San Diegans would not foot the bill for the stadium.

There's already a 10.5% "transient occupancy" tax on hotel rooms in San Diego. The measure would've increased the tax by 6% to 16.5%.... which would hurt the tourism industry.

If you can afford to vacation in San Diego you probably wouldn't notice $20/night for a hotel room. Not saying I agree with it, but $20/night? Meh...
