That article is wrong, he won't cost $19M.

    https://overthecap.com/fifth-year-option-projections

OTC is estimating $13,387,000 because he didn't meet the requirements for any of the higher tiers.

At that price you definitely pick up the option. He's arguably the best run stopping EDGE in the league and is still very young with a lot of upside as a pass rusher.

He’s definitely better at stopping the run/setting the edge than rushing the passer, but he still wasn’t among the top 10 DEs in run stop win rate.

Not sure where they are cap wise but I don’t want to restructure Diggs.  I think they can gain some more space by extending Johnson and. Maybe a couple other minor moves.  I don’t expect much more but as FA goes I expect low end wr  safety dt de and ol signings.  Kinda like Rapp and puna last year type deals.

If there’s not an easy out on that Diggs contract within the next two years, that’ll be the next albatross choking this team.

I would trade Von Miller for Khalil Mack straight up because Von Miller is done as a NFL player. This way Von Miller can go back to Los Angeles with the Los Angeles Chargers this time. Von Miller

on the Buffalo Bills is like Joe Namath on the Los Angeles Rams. It’s sad to watch Von Miller simply can’t play football anymore. The mind wants to but body says no. It’s sad Von Miller had nothing left once he left the Los Angeles Rams with a Super Bowl ring he should have retired a champion. As a Bills fan I hope I am wrong but it’s sad and painful to watch Von Miller play his knee is done just like Joe Namath in my opinion. Go Bills! Let’s Go Buffalo

That’s not true. He was far and away our best pass rusher before the knee injury. What was it, 8 sacks in 10 games? It wasn’t only the sacks either, he consistently got pressure. In the game against the Chiefs last year Eric Washington schemed the DL around what Von wanted to do rather than have a defined role or rush attack for each player; his defensive line mates responded off of him. That’s rare to give a player that much freedom, but he had earned it. He was a total dud in 2023, but 2022 he was still a menace. The Bills season hinges in many ways on him getting back to form, or at least close to it.

On paper, yes that's what he's "credited" with. Watching games, he drops much more than that yearly. Drops are always comically marked low

I’m sure the “2” could be easily dispelled by asking any devoted Steeler fan if Diontae Johnson dropped more than two passes last year. Their fans get super frustrated with him too. He’s like a more talented Isaiah McKenzie with the same penchant for dumb occurrences. I wouldn’t trade a 7th for him, mentally, he’s not the type of WR this team needs.

  5. Bengals fans are mad because they lost their starting safeties and only get two 6th round picks. I don’t know how much those two signed for in FA, but Beane was careful to navigate the cap to ensure we’d get a 3rd for Edmunds $18M/yr contract. He said he even spoke to people to make sure his signings weren’t jeopardizing that. Something does feel wrong here.

You nailed it . I heard them talking on 1 Bills Live that Bass had his best year when Haack was his holder & last year he didn't do so well & they said that is the reason why they brought him back is to see if that actually had something to do with him having a down season .

Sorry to say, but if Bass needs a specific holder to do his job, he can go. And I’m a Bass fan, but I think the yips never truly leave a kicker and will pop up at another point in his career.

Really? He is wide open on a lot of them and on a few others just turns the corner around defenders. I think what I like about Worthy is his ability to decelerate, which I think is what also makes Hill so dangerous.

I’m all for the pick if Beane decides to go with Worthy. I feel like we’ve been chasing that type of player for awhile with Smoke, Sanders, Stevenson, McKenzie, and Harty. At this point I feel like it’s probably one of Worthy, Legette, or Franklin (even if I didn’t like his combine measurements/performance). Mitchell and Thomas Jr will most likely be gone.

So I'm not saying I'm an advocate for drafting Keon Coleman in the 1st or anything, but I think way too much is being made of his 40 time at the Combine.

I realize all I'm going by is highlights, but his play speed looks plenty fine to me.

First play at 18 seconds shows him plenty fast and elusive enough.

Play at 1:51 looks like a guy with more agility and route running than Gabe.

The next play (that you see from the All-22 at 2:10) shows pretty good route running ability along with the speed to separate from the defender.

At 2:41 you see him used in a Bubble Screen with enough speed and agility to get away from the defender and get into the EZ.

Watch his Punt return at 3:00 and tell me that a guy at that size returning a punt like that isn't impressive.

Another effective Bubble Screen at 1:03

Effective WR screen behind the LOS at 1:30

    I'm going to stop there.

I've been listening to a lot of sports podcasts lately that aren't just Bills ones.  Move the Sticks with Daniel Jeremiah and Bucky Brooks.  First Draft with Field Yates and Mel Kiper Jr.  The Athletic Football Podcast with Nate Tice and (sometimes) Dane Brugler.

What you hear a lot about the scouting process is the phrase "grade the flashes."  Basically, grade those players in their best moments.

Keon Coleman in his best moments looks like a 1st round WR, to me.

All that said, I do think his draft stock is down after the 40 time, so if we drafted Coleman, what I'd like to see us do is actually trade DOWN into the top of the 2nd and acquire more draft picks and use those other draft picks to slingshot up for more picks in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th round because there's supposed to be a significant drop off in talent after the middle rounds.

I didn’t know Coleman played D1 college basketball, so right away he’s more likely to have better hands and body control than other receivers his size. That said, I can’t see him at 28, but agree with you for a trade down and picking him in the 2nd if it comes to that. If only we had a crystal ball, or access to a time traveler to tell us which receivers will pan out from this draft.

Going to keep banging the Worthy drum. The more I watch, the more I see how complete his game has been throughout college working with different QBs against top competition. Wins all over the field with not just speed but also incredible route running and even some nice contested catches. The below video is worth a watch. Love his hustle at a little after 17 minutes to recover a fumble after his CB intercepted an underthrown ball. (Also, I think Jordan Whittington, the guy who caused that fumble and was Texas’ third WR option, is a decent mid-to-late-round prospect. Reminds me of a bigger Shakir.)

Edit: Also beginning to like Tahj Washington out of USC. Anyone have opinions on him?

Worthy looks fast, but in these highlights I didn't get the feeling he looked Tyreek Hill fast. Maybe Hill’s agility/quickness is better which makes him look faster.

  9. I wanted Franklin at 28 before the combine, but if he’s going to show up 2 inches shorter and almost 20 pounds lighter than his listed ht/wt, that boy better run a 4.3. His time was disappointing for his frame, can he add 20 pounds and maintain 4.4 speed? Not a risk I want to take in round 1.

No never.  He was lousy at Mich and lousy at Tenn.  He’ll never be a good pro.  Huge arm. Great athlete, but a terrible QB.

    No to Rattler also.

I know most people here don’t watch a ton of college football, but as I live in GA (and go to most UGA home games), I’ve seen Milton and Rattler play many times.  They aren’t good and certainly aren’t even NFL backup material

But Rattler was Senior Bowl MVP and kinda looks like Mahomes! All jokes aside, consistency is what plagued him. How does a guy throw 6 TDs against the number 5 team in the nation and then look underwhelming against lesser teams? Truth is we never know how any of these guys will pan out at the next level. There are plenty of players where we say “never saw that coming based on his tape” and that could be a positive or negative. One thing’s for sure, we’ve gotta draft one. If he’s good enough to beat out a veteran backup, cool. If not, take a swing next year. Keep taking those swings and eventually we’ll find our Gardner Minshew, or if we’re really lucky, a Brock Purdy.

  11. I would only stand pat or trade down. No matter how sure I may be of a prospect, or how high I have him graded, history tells us time and time again that I’m just as likely to get it wrong as I am to get it right. Almost assuredly there’ll be a guy taken after the player I select who will be even more productive at the position. That’s just how every NFL draft goes and I shake my head at the ones here who want to mortgage the future on a single player who may or may not work out.

I think McConkey could be an absolute monster, but he’s tough to get a read on because he clearly possesses outside WR ability but has been hit with the slot narrative.

I’m the last to make things about race, I hate when it’s brought up on these boards as a crutch to support one argument or another, but in McConkey’s place I do think it fits. White receivers who are 6’0” or shorter are almost always slot players. I can’t remember the last starting receiver who played on the outside and was white and didn’t have height in his favor: Jordy Nelson, Ed McCaffrey, Cris Collinsworth, who am I missing who was on the shorter side? If Ladd McConkey was a black receiver named Lamont McCoy and he put up the same athletic tests and collegiate statistics, there’d be a good argument to put him amongst the top 3 as a starting outside receiver.

  13. I don’t mind that the QB is more protected, because without one a team’s season is over, BUT some of the roughing the passer calls today are egregiously bad: a slight push just after the ball is released and the QB doesn’t even go to the ground, a hit across the top of the helmet, a player who lands without his body weight on the QB yet is still called for RTP. There’s a healthy balance somewhere in the middle but right now we’re on the extreme side.
