  1. Don’t think Bodork saw it since he was focused on the low snap, but whenever a blocker abandons all responsibility on the outside like that, you’d like to see a pass to the gunner, or a swift run around the corner. At the VERY least, you gotta motion the gunner in for added protection.

    Yep.

They barely called offensive holding both ways... that was the case everywhere around the league last week.

And Tom Brady’s very public voice of displeasure can be thanked for that. Riveron held a meeting with the refs shortly after that Thursday night game and the holding calls were drastically reduced by Sunday. What Brady wants, Brady gets.

Matt Chatham had an article in The Athletic highlighting a few of Allen’s scrambles. You guys are correct, he doesn’t need to run because he’s got open receivers when he takes off. His 13 scrambles on the year are second to Lamar Jackson. As the season progresses hopefully we’ll see him run less and hit those open players. He’s still learning.

Poof.     Star's been doing his job, IMO.    Which is not to be Aaron Donald or Geno Atkins.    It's to absorb double teams and make the rest of the D more effective.    Do you think we'd have the the defensive success we've had the last two years if he was under-performing?   Jesus T.

What is worrisome is that this defense depends on D-line rotation.    They now need an interior DT option to spell Lotulelei, to the same extent the other guys on the line are rotated in and out.    Beane and Malik Boyd have some work to do...

We need to stop this fallacy that Star is absorbing double teams every time he’s in the lineup, thus allowing others to make plays. Truth is he’s in primarily on run downs and is single blocked far more often than doubled. He doesn’t do anything with the 1:1 opportunities either, just kinda finds himself “in the way.” When he is doubled, it’s by play design, not because he’s disruptive. He offers nothing there either. There’s a reason he averages 1 tackle per game since about the 3rd year he’s been in the league. He’s just not active enough. Hopefully Jordan Phillips plays well enough to lessen the blow of losing a DT like Harrison.

I couldn't remember if it was Ford or Ty, but one of them got pancaked BAD.

If you’re referring to the play Nsekhe fell on his butt seconds after the snap, it wasn’t a pancake. I’ve watched that play 3 or 4 times trying to figure out why he fell, but I could only guess his foot got stepped on. He went down without a lineman touching him.

I like how AB can throw a racist slur at Mayock and nothing is made of it.  If Mayock had done the same to AB, it would be headline news, Mayock would be fired, and Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson would be in an uproar.

It’s simple: due to the history of this country, people will always be more sympathetic/willing to look the other way if a black man calls a white man a “cracker.” When a white man calls a black man a “n!gger,” there’s weighted history there. A dark period in this nation’s past. A slur is a slur and neither one is right, but since the white man has never been oppressed like their colored counterparts, the derogatory slurs will never receive the equal reaction you’re looking for.

I wonder if the Bills are having any buyer’s remorse. Star is strictly a “space eater” and a small one at that (6’2” 315). He averages about 1 tackle per game. His backup, Harrison Phillips, was much more productive, stats wise, in fewer reps. Mount Washington, all 6’5 365 pounds of him, was truly a space eater and managed to average over 3 tackles per game. I heard the Bills are starting to group Jordan Phillips more often with Ed Oliver. He is actually a bigger body than Star. I wonder as the season progresses if Jordan proves to be more valuable than the 7th highest paid DT. We shall see!

  7. Belichek isn’t throwing those clutch passes on the field. There’s only so much a coach can do, the players have to execute and he has arguably the greatest of all time at the most important position on the field. Some will point to Belichek’s 13-6 record without Brady and I’d say that sort of success wouldn’t be sustainable. I’d use his record as head coach prior to Brady taking the field to support my argument.

  8. Anyone else hear the report about the Ravens failed trade up? Happened during the draft where Minnesota missed their pick. Two teams ran to the podium and selected players, the Vikings picked a couple slots later than they were scheduled. The hang up? Minnesota had worked out a trade with the Ravens, the Ravens intended to take Byron Leftwich. Some complications nullified the trade, so Minnesota was late to the podium. The Ravens had to stay at 10 and draft a player at their original slot. They missed out on Leftwich and “settled” for Terrell Suggs. Moral of then story - don’t trade up! Especially for a non QB.

6'2", 260, projected 4.8 forty.  Think he may be drafted higher then his measureables merit.

    No thank you

At 6'3" 260 Terrell Suggs ran a 4.84 forty. Straight line speed is overrated for a DL. I'm not advocating we take him at 9, but this guy looks like he bends the edge extremely well.

  10. Haven't been watching this game, but I just looked up the box score. Good god. One of these days the Bills will stumble into a really good QB. And here's the thing - the best QBs have ALWAYS been available without any extra effort on the part of the franchise: Aaron Rodgers, Russell Wilson, Kirk Cousins, Patrick Mahomes, Deshaun Watson. They all fell into the Bills lap (or would have fell in the case of Rodgers). One of these days, guys. One of these days. Sure, we may all be dead by then, but it's gonna happen. We're gonna find a blue chip QB.

  11. When I heard the Browns were deciding between drafting Allen or Mayfield, I actually felt sorry for Browns fans, thinking that organization would screw up by taking the biggest question mark in the draft. I didn’t like Allen and it wasn’t because of the often referenced accuracy issues, I didn’t like him as a prospect due to his decision making. He failed to look like a man among boys in the Mountain West conference and often struggled to throw for 200 yards. He’s a Buffalo Bill now, so I’m going to continue hoping he miraculously turns into something he never was, but if he doesn’t, the Bills deserve to toil in mediocrity.

  12. The slot wasn’t the preferred read on that play. There’s a safety playing robber and if NP threw to Zay, the play would’ve ended in a violent collision or potentially a tipped pass/interception. Where NP should have gone with the ball is the TE, Charles Clay. The 11th defender was over the top of Benjamin, so if that pass went to Clay, it would’ve been a huge gain. Problem is, NP makes a decision where he’s going with the ball presnap. It’s why he looks decisive, but is also why he throws so many INTs. He never progresses through his reads post snap.

  13. I didn’t realize the Browns found a starting LT from the UDFA pool. The Austin Proehl pick really irked me at the time, especially after having selected Ray Ray McCloud a round earlier. Would’ve been nice to take a swing on an athletic freak of an offensive tackle with that 7th round pick.
