  1. Maybe it’s a coaching issue then. You know there are tons of circumstances for why one player succeeds somewhere and fails elsewhere. And by “succeed” we’ll take that term lightly since those players you’re referencing are still backup players. Instead of bringing up Brock Purdy - an MVP candidate QB for another team - and stating the offense would look much like it did with Trubisky at QB, your point would’ve carried more weight had you referenced someone like Jake Browning, the Bengals backup that played admirably in Burrow’s absence. Would Browning look better than Trubisky in the Bills system and circumstances? That’s more up for debate than an MVP candidate from another team. EDIT: Just saw you did exactly that in the post that preceded the one I responded to.
  2. The original post I responded to seemed to absolve Trubisky of blame (as well as the other backup QBs that have been on the Bills) and pointed the finger squarely at the offensive talent. You suggested that only Josh Allen (or some other elite QB) could capably run this offense because the personnel around him was that bad. Even brought up a QB who was an MVP candidate on another team and said the results would’ve been the same if he had played in front of Trubisky. Remember the pass Trubisky hit to Davidson? We saw it happen because the ball found him. There are winning routes on other play calls as well, but we never see those wins if the ball doesn’t find them. You’re right in that we have to wait for the All-22. The passing offense was bad because Trubisky was bad, not because Mack Hollins, Tyrell Shavers, Zach Davidson, Quinton Morris, etc., etc., etc., were on the field. The rest of your post was reasonable - not a ton of other backup QBs in the league would’ve looked markedly better than Trubisky, but that’s because they lack starting ability.
  3. Disagree. That’s saying there weren’t throws there to be made. There are, every down. Trubisky was late getting the ball out or missed the player entirely. Plays in the passing game are almost always there to be made, but who’s throwing the ball is the difference and Purdy is a definite step up from Mitchell Trubisky. As far as the playoff argument and missing the chance to participate by losing a couple games… of course a team could still be a SB contender. It only takes getting hot at the right time. There are plenty SB winning teams in NFL history that wouldn’t have had the opportunity if they simply lost one or two more games in the regular season. Could we use a better backup? Absolutely.
  4. Yeah, Spector also looks the part when he’s on the field, to the point I was curious when he didn’t get more time with the 1s at MLB last year (Beane said he wasn’t ready), but of course his problem is staying on the field. Injury bug seems to have it in for some players and he may be one of them.
  5. With backup MLB Baylon Spector consistently nursing some sort of injury, Andreesen took the opportunity and ran with it. Game ball for him.
  6. He’ll be on Joe Marino’s list of studs from the game.
  7. Interesting that Andreesen started over any of the other potential Mike LBs and doesn’t look at all out of place. In fact he looks the part. Who else was running MLB in camp? Deion Jones? Can’t see Morrow or Ulofoshio with the green dot.
  8. What is Torrence doing, man? Absolutely no effort to erase his assignment from the play, just touched him and allowed him to go wherever he wanted.
  9. That’ll be a forgettable drive by Torrence. Looked bad on all 3 plays, like he’s going through the motions.
  10. Morrow has been out with an injury I believe.
  11. Or lift the jugs machine?
  12. Groot wasn’t even in the top 10 DEs for run stop win rate.
  13. From the Bears fan perspective the criticism started very early, by game 2, which surprised me a bit. By game 3 they were already questioning “what does this guy do well? He’s billed as a coverage linebacker yet he’s terrible in coverage.” That one had me laughing. When I last checked midway through the season some considered it a positive when he got hurt against the Chargers. That game was the last I kept up with Edmunds and how Bears fans perceived their new LBer.
  14. There’s an extremely high rate of injuries on the Bills in the last few years. At one point they almost never got injured, I think they were something like 4th in the league in missed games. Now it’s one guy after another.
  15. So much for sitting him out in a preseason game. Just reaffirms - injuries can happen anywhere at any time. This one happened in an individual drill.
  16. Do you maybe wanna include an interesting excerpt from the story since it’s behind a paywall?
  17. At least the Bills have LB depth this year should he be out for half the season.
  18. The 60M dash is an actual race and the world record holder is Christian Coleman with a 6.34. Dude is the fastest short sprinter on the planet.
  19. Not to jump into others’ arguments, but as a fellow math brain I’d just like to point out that if two tenths of a second is roughly equivalent to 2 yards of separation, or six feet, then two hundredths of a second cannot be equivalent to roughly a meter, or three feet. EDIT: Also, it would follow that 0.4 seconds of separation would be equivalent to roughly 12 feet, or 3.66M, which is a pretty great distance. Bust out your measuring tapes and plot out 12 feet.
  20. Dawkins owned Judon, he never really made an impact in Bills games. Good player, but it’s a “meh” from me, dawg.
  21. Also, I remember reading that Bill Parcells didn’t care for kickers. If one was struggling, rather than the coddle approach he’d make sure his kicker saw his shadow on the ground before he kicked in game situations. Or he would just stand off to the side, deliberately in his eye line. Maybe that’s what Bass would respond to better, an ever looming threat from his HC. Probably too late for McD to reverse course though.
  22. Found it interesting that when pressed about the good from the game, McD mentioned Bass’s 24 and 49 yard kicks in two separate pressers, as a highlight of the game. Those are fairly routine for a “good” kicker and shouldn’t merit a spotlight. I think McD is intentionally communicating to Bass through the media in an effort to raise his spirits. It was said by Beane that Bass didn’t have a fragile mind, the misses don’t affect him. Wonder if Brandon still feels that way…
  23. They shouldn’t be. The fastest NFL athletes have all run track at some point in their lives. To a man they’d tell you - besides Tyreek - they can’t run with Olympic sprinters.
  24. Lost in the Milano injury and stone hands Cook, Bass continues to miss FGs…
  25. They call him MR GLASS! Get well, Matt. And stay well…
