6-8 weeks ago, i didn't think we'd get floyd back. now i think we should only take him back for the same or even less. haven't seen much of him lately. 1 sack in the last 8 weeks. none in the last 5.

how much money is 10 sacks in the first half of the season worth?

His play certainly fell off a cliff. Someone else said he was dealing with a shoulder injury.

Maybe not as a corner, but Tre is a player you could make the case for attempting a move to FS. I'm not saying he's a guaranteed surefire stud there, but it's something to look at. Coverage wise he's able to sit in zone and let it come to him more and he's been quick enough to patrol a deep cover 2 zone. He's a willing tackler on top of it, so I'm just saying it could be a possibility to have less needs come draft and lets you re up Rapp if necessary

Could you imagine Tre being the last line of defense with a charging Derrick Henry running at him? Hyde has taken him down in this exact scenario, but tackling has never been Tre’s strong suit and you need sure tacklers at safety. I believe he’d have the mind to play the position, but not the physicality.

The Diggs Miller and Knox contracts stink.  If we can get rid of all 3 (which is unlikely) and replace w more productive cheaper players, Beane will have earned his keep 10 times over.  Bills D is OLD.  We need pass rushers. WE need younger safeties.. And we need more playmakers (at least 2) at the WR position.

Which is why I’m NOT a fan of trading up for a position that isn’t QB, regardless who Beane thinks he can reach. We need more young players on cost controlled contracts. There are numerous guys we could’ve picked in the 4th round the last two years that would’ve been a core starter or great depth. Every non-QB we’ve traded up for, there’s been someone who goes later who’s either just as good or better. Trade down if anything.

    3. Bass lost his mojo a while ago. And once a kicker does that, it’s over. It’s very similar to Norwood. Baltimore and KC dont have that problem.

Very true. I don’t know any kicker who went from having the yips, to being one of the best in the league. Once one goes through that, it’s over. Guaranteed to crop up again at some point in the future. Kicker is an isolating job, I wouldn’t want it.

  5. It would’ve been the most unlikeliest of Bills teams to win it all, which is why I held out hope they’d do it. I don’t know if they would’ve gotten past Baltimore next week, because that team is better than KC when they’re clicking on all cylinders. 49ers are thought of as a powerhouse, but get beat by most physical AFC teams, so I would’ve liked our chances against Purdy. I also don’t think the roster will be as strong (or deep) as the current rendition for awhile.

Did we have Shavers before?  His name sounds familiar.

He was in camp and made a few plays. Also supposedly an elite gunner.

I wish I was a young safety prospect in the upcoming NFL draft (or now). Theres no other team I’d pick than one that might have two holes at the position.

    Who cheers for another team?

    Lol.

If you watch the games you’ll inherently be pulling for one or the other. I was the biggest Giants fan when they beat the 18-0 Pats. I had never been so emotionally invested in a team that wasn’t the Bills.

For about 8 weeks he was the best WR in the League.

His extension was absolutely deserved. Unfortunately the Bills likely extend him again simply for cap purposes. But I expect them to have an out year after 24/25

I never bought into him being the best. I thought he was probably the purest and craftiest route runner, but he never had physical attributes a defense had to fear - size (average), speed (above average), hands (excellent?).

He’s a high level possession receiver and should’ve received a 2 year pay raise - not one for almost $100M - given his age and malcontent history.

    - Mitch Morse said he wants to be back with the Bills next year and expects to be.

    - Dawson Knox, speaking about Allen, said: "I pray I get to play the rest of my career with him and I think everyone in that room would say the same thing... he's a modern gladiator."

    - Dion Dawkins, speaking about Allen, said: "That performance the kid put on yesterday was insane. It was crazy... he makes it easy for all of us to play ball."

    - Gabe said he is testing free agency but wouldn't mind coming back to Buffalo.

    - Leonard Floyd said he will go where the money takes him, but would prefer to be back in Buffalo.

    - Jordan Phillips says he might retire.

    - All offensive players, included Allen, shouted support for Joe Brady.

    - Hyde says he needs time to decide what his next steps will be.

    - Rousseau gave his vote for McD as D Coordinator, mentioning that he learned a lot under McD.

    - Gabe and Bernard both said they were planning on playing in the AFCCG.

    .

Notice you won’t find any quotes from Diggs since he declined to speak with the media. When everyone was clamoring to give him an extension a couple years ago, I didn’t want to do it, but understood it made for a happier player. What I didn’t like was that it was a 4 year, $96M extension. Should've given him a 2 year extension/pay raise at most given his age. His MIN contract would be expiring right about now.

I get it, but what I'm talking about is a player the team truly believes will be that guy. Of course, personnel guys are wrong all the time, but if they DO believe -- like the believed in Kincaid last year (who I was all in on) -- you have to have the courage of your convictions and go get that guy. They loved Jordan Addison last year, and they were right about him.

I guess I should’ve mentioned I’m not in favor of trading up for any position that isn’t a QB, so my responses are a bit biased from that standpoint. Loved what Kincaid brought to the team, but didn’t like trading up to get him. Hated trading up for Elam too. I feel there’s always players that go after the infatuation who prove to be just as good or better. Of course the trick is hitting on that player.

But in regards to trading up, if I compiled a list of 4th rounders we had the opportunity to draft if not for the trade up, you’d cry. If Dallas had selected Kincaid, I was all for trading back and accumulating lottery tickets. I’ll admit that LaPorta wasn’t even on my radar, all I heard was Kincaid and Meyer being the top two premiere TEs. Kudos to Detroit for picking LaPorta ahead of Meyer in the 2nd.

CeeDee Lamb was 17th. Justin Jefferson was 22nd. Brandon Aiyuk was 25th. Jordan Addison was 22nd. Jaxon Smith-Njigba was 20th. Zay Flowers was 22nd. DJ Moore was 24th. Calvin Ridley was 26th.

ALL of those slots come before 28. If they see a guy from 15 onward who can help take their space alien QB's passing game to the next level, they gotta do to what they need to do to get him. It's what's holding the Bills back now more than anything else. Obviously, it goes without saying that they shouldn't be reaching for the next Jaelon Rheagor or DeVante Parker.

That’s the problem, you don’t know if you’re mortgaging picks to select a future all pro, a middling player, or a bust like Quentin Johnson (yes it’s early but I’m calling it already). Good receivers can be had all over the draft. Picking at the top gives you a better chance to hit on a great talent, but you also run the risk of selecting a JAG. For a team in need of youth on cheap contracts, I’m just not in favor of mortgaging picks for a lottery ticket.

Just for fun, these were a few difference makers selected after 28:

    2

    Deebo Samuel 36

    AJ Brown 51

    George Pickens 52

    DK Metcalf 64

    3

    Tank Dell 69

    Cooper Kupp 69

    Terry McLaurin 76

    Chris Godwin 84

    Nico Collins 89

    4

    Amon-Ra St Brown 112

    5

    Stefon Diggs 146

    Hunter Renfrow 149

    Tyreek Hill 165

    Darius Slayton 171

    Puka Nacua 177

Good post. With regard to WR, I am of the mind that if THAT guy is there at, say the 15-17 slot, trading up and use a bunch of capital to do it has to be done at this point. They need to give an Allen elite option who can win regularly win one-on-one NOW.

I feel opposite. This team needs an infusion of youth on cheap contracts, you can’t get that trading away capital. Difference making receivers aren’t only found at the top of the first round, it’s easier to identify one in theory, but they get selected pretty much throughout the first to the fifth round. Just gotta hit on the right one(s).

Don’t kid yourself, it was 100% us having a shell of a defense. Mahomes had one long run and was a game manager hitting wide ope receivers all night. Little to no pressure, all day to wait for someone to come open.

Which is why having Bernard and Benford would’ve added little to the overall picture. The healthy DL was dominated. We weren’t getting a player back that pressures Mahomes consistently enough to force him into mistakes. They couldn’t stop the run, they couldn’t rush the passer. It was a bad night for that unit.

The Damar Hamlin fake punt killed whatever goodwill I had. Our defensive-minded Head Coach, who is the Defensive Coordinator, put the ball in the hands of a backup safety in a low percentage fake punt prayer that his defense wouldn’t have to take the field again.

Did McD confirm a fake punt was the plan?
Romo was talking like the players make the call based on a certain advantageous look, like a punter throwing to a wide open gunner. He said the Chiefs had 6 rushing to our 8 blocking but that Tranquil beat two blocks to make the play. Romo said it was the right call given the look.

  15. The KC offense played uncharacteristically well tonight. I don’t think a single receiver had a drop. MVS pulled in some great passes, especially the one against Taron up the sideline. The most penalized tackle in the league, Juwaan Taylor, didn’t have a single penalty all night. No false starts, holding, illegally downfield, nothing. And Mahomes made the Bills pay almost every time by finding the open player.

That middling offense which was the worst in Mahomes tenure, looked anything but middling. They looked like a well coached machine. Part of that was due to our injuries, the other part was just rising to the occasion and refusing to be stopped all night, aside from the one punt. They had another gear our defense couldn’t match and I’m not sure they would’ve matched it with a healthy Benford and Bernard.

  16. I feel like kickers either have it, or they don’t. A miss like that can linger in Bass’s mind. His first year was concerning after beating out Hauschka because he had the yips early, couldn’t make anything after a stellar preseason. He was able to get right in that Jets game where he made 7/10 or whatever it was, but I can’t fully trust him from this point on. I think he knows the team likely feels the same.

McD stuck w Klien waaaaaaaay toooooooooo looooooong.  Soon as Siran came in Kelce had no impact.  Sad to say but better team on the field won.  Bills D was decimated.  Not McD's fault.....Diggs was WIDE open twice.......who knows what happened there??  I HATE to say it but Von actually looked good the few plays he was in....

I was shocked to see that Klein was the dime backer and Dodson came off the field, this was after the unathletic Klein turned his ankle. Just piss poor personnel management. I would’ve rather had the team go with Elam and Dorian in place of Klein and Douglas. Two healthy players that can run. Bills defense was overmatched athletically all night.

  18. Read somewhere that Floyd has had 1 sack in the last 8 games. Is that true? The DL performance tonight was extremely surprising. I thought they’d be much more effective bottling up the run and at least getting pressure from the edges. They did almost nothing. Completely pwned.
