I'm definitely one of Prima Donovan's biggest detractors, but he impressed me last match. I think maybe he's grown a bit since last WC and I'm looking forward to seeing him play tomorrow. I feel like this team is so close to being able to make some noise in this thing...particularly given our draw, anything less than at least one win in the elimination bracket would be a failure, IMO. With Slovenia talking a bunch of trash, we need to go out and make a statement.

This is easy...two films that scared the SHEEAAT out of me when I was a kid...Salem's Lot and Poltergeist. Granted, if I were to see them for the first time as an adult, the impact wouldn't have been quite the same. But I still remember EXACTLY where I was when i saw both of those films, and those were easily the two times I was creeped out the most. I can still picture that damn bald, pointy-eared, sharp-toothed vampire BASTARD!

I can't wait for tonight. After the Celtics take the series and the championship, Kobe's chances of ever being compared to Jordan again will be buried for good. This will be his second finals LOSS, and all that talk about him being on par with the great one will fade away once and for all. Kobe = LOSAH!!! muah ha ha ha!!!!

Watching these highlights, I'm again amazed at how pertinent one of the very first things I was ever taught about the game of soccer holds true on even the world's biggest stage - FOLLOW YOUR DAMN SHOT! I remember that being drilled in our heads at a soccer camp I attended as a child. It's funny seeing so many goals in the WC where that made all the difference. Some of these goals have been pretty nuts, but they wouldn't have happened if a few of these players hadn't continued to pursue the play after their shot. The fundamentals of the game pay off!

I can't wait for S6 to come out on BD/Netflix. I'm really eager to fire up the finale again, except this time on the big screen (projector). I've found myself really wanting to see it again for the last week or so....can't wait!

lol, dude, I'm so jealous that you're unemployed right now! That was my situation in '06 and I LOVED firing up the projector and watching every single match on the big screen, and then coming on to TBD to talk to everyone about it. My boss has been pretty cool about moving my hours around so I can catch the mostimportant games of this WC, but I miss having the whole month to really take in the experience

Glad to have you in the thread! And yeah, C.Ronaldo is arguably the best player in the world. He's a pretty boy that a lot of people love to hate, but his talent is undeniable. Some of the best footwork on the planet, and a great deal of fun to watch play.

That was an amazing save, I agree. If you get a chance, go back and watch some of the Camaroon highlights from their first game. Their goalie had some pretty amazing saves, too.

I'm still calling it for Argentina, but hoping Germany makes it (very) interesting. I want to see more from England before I can really view them as a favorite. They're clearly talented, but with crap goalkeeping and a few other teams that appear to be very hungry, I just don't know about the Brits.

Heck yeah it was...I would have loved to see that in the net...wicked shot by Ronaldo! I tell you who is REALLY impressing me is D. Forlan. That guy is a MASTER at creating a shot. They were even showing on WC Live how he's able to manipulate the defense in such a way that he can create space and give himself an opportunity to put the ball on goal. This is a very smart, good player. I was laughing at his goal against S.Africa, cause it was a total RIP of a shot, but when it skidded off the head of the S.African defender, it sort of went knuckle ball on the goalie and went floating in the net right under the crossbar

I can't believe that Chipper is retiring. Not in the sense that it's time, but to think about how fast the time has gone. I still remember when he first hit the scene and how fast he became one of our leaders. The guy is a class act and it's really going to be emotional saying goodbye to both him and Bobby in the same year. I'm just glad that this didn't turn into some sort of Smoltz/Glavine injury type of situation. I love the fact that Chipper has worn the same colors and been a Brave since the very beginning. The Braves have already done a great job turning the season around in the early stages...I hope they make some noise and challenge for one more World Series trip, win or lose. YOU DA MAN, CHIPPER!

I don't know what his name is, but one of the Cameroon players had a RIP of shot that smashed into the crossbar. A few inches lower and that would have been a sick goal....same thing happened to Ronaldo today

The one Italian player I look forward to watching is Gattuso....that guy hits the field and just goes apeshiit, man. I wish the US team had an equivalent player off the bench. Seems like every time I see Gattuso, he's around the ball or making something happen.

I just watched that goal again....I dont think the keeper ever expected him to take a shot like that. He's clearly anticipating a cross to the less-marked Brazilian in the box. The far guy was taken out of the play, but the nearer of the two Brazilians feigned like he was expecting the cross. Goalie still shoudl have stopped that, though, I agree....but nice shootin, regardless! Speaking of defense, I think I was too hard on DeMerritt last game. I rewatched parts of it last night and aside from the communication blunders in the first half, he wasn't bad at all. These fukkers still need to learn how to clear the damn ball, though....unreal how many 2nd and 3rd chances England had.

Even the English keeper probably could have stopped that one
