  1. Very well said! I totally agree about how the people on this forum sincerely care about other members. I don't know many online forums where the same can be said. And yeah, his name was badass
  2. I mentioned this a long time ago on TBD, and I think it still holds true today. If you watch Benny Hinn, when he has people on stage that collapse into the arms of his assistants, he usually does one of two things - he either swooshes his arm/hand in front of the victim, errr, participant...or else he touches them and gives them just a LITTLE TINY shove. Does he randomly determine which technique he's going to use? Nope. It all depends on whether the participant's EYES are open. If their eyes are open, they get the swoosh. If closed, they get physically touched and shoved. I would further explain my point, but I'm sure most of you get what I'm saying here. Go on youtube and watch a few clips. If you find one that goes against the rule, please post it cause I have yet to find one.
  3. Dammit Beerball! You're always one step ahead of me...I was hoping nobody else saw this cause I want to be one of the first to get refunded. I'm gonna send him my social just to see if I can speed this up....don't you DARE copy me!
  4. Wow, there is a whole lot there to be proud of, man. As others have said, wish you well during this period of grieving, but clearly this man kicked ass in life. As I get older, my fear grows that there just aren't enough Ben GiaQuintas or Sylvester Knickerbockers (my grandfather) in the world anymore. Those of us who had strong, accomplished grandfathers to learn from have truly been blessed.
  5. lol...probably true. We've just come SO CLOSE the last three cups....2nd in 2002, 3rd in 2006, 3rd this time. Who knows, if these young guns really thrive over the next four years, maybe we can take it a step further in Brazil in 2014....I would really like to see another Italy/Germany match in the 2012 Euro finals though
  6. Germany would have beaten the hell out of both of these teams today...too bad they had an off day in the semifinal match
  7. Most of us agree wholeheartedly that diving and bellyaching is a huge black eye on the sport, and that further measures should be taken to curtail it.
  8. I can't really say what I'd do personally, but scoring a goal in a world cup match is a pretty huge deal...I imagine I'd be pretty damn excited about it too! You also have to keep in mind something I think Meazza said earlier in the thread....scoring in soccer is FUGGIN HARD. You only get so many moments like that in your lifetime, so it doesn't really bother me when they go running around like banshees and everyone jumps on top of them.
  9. Yeah, the defender had his arm wrapped around Robben's waist and was pulling him back. If Robben has just another second or two, it's game over.
  10. MVP of the match so far? Casillas. Not that his SAVES were great on those two Robben opportunities, but his DECISION MAKING to challenge Robben out in the box was fantastic. If he wouldn't have done that he wouldn't have been lucky enough to have his flailing leg deflect Robben's first shot, and if he hadn't done it the second time, Robben would have easily recovered the ball after being held up by the defender and gotten off a clean shot on goal. Casillas has saved this game for Spain so far.
  11. Some nice highlights from the Germany v. Uraguay match today. First up, Diego frickin Forlan....WHAT A GOAL!!!! This guy is the most potent offensive power I've seen in a long, long time. And on that free kick, he damn near bent it in under the crossbar...this guy is GOOD.
  12. Can I be someone next?
  13. LOL, wow, what are the chances you'd be fessing up at the same time I was passing the blame?
  14. I don't care where these scientists THINK that space fart came from, I'm still blaming Lana.
  15. He's friends with Adam Levitre
  16. Totally agree. The guy has been money all tournament. If there is a more dangerous player from distance, I don't know who it is. He gets some really wicked ball movement and almost all of his shots are on goal. As for tomorrow's match, even being a fan of Germany I don't really have that much excitement for it. I hope Klose plays and they give him a shot at another goal, though, since that would tie him with Ronaldo for the most WC goals ever....pretty damn nice accomplishment! I read that he has some back spasms or something going on though, so not sure what's up. Will be pretty quiet after Sunday, but at least NFL camps open in a few weeks! BTW, did we go an entire soccer thread without a single "kickball" post by AD?? Doesn't seem right! Hopefully he'll show up before Sunday lol.
  17. LOL, that rocked!
  18. Hard to believe only one match left I hope it's a great one. Actually, I forgot about the 3rd place game...if Klose plays, it should be a good match. Will be good to see Forlan play one more time, too. I've definitely enjoyed this past month...went by in a flash! I'm thankful to ESPN and this this thread (and soccer by Ives) for helping me feel like I was always caught up with what was going on when I wasn't able to see the matches live. I wish I could say I was really looking forward to 2014, but the fact that it's in Rio REALLY bothers me! lol So, that being said, I can't wait for Euro 2012!!! lol
  19. Holland looked pretty aggressive in the 2nd half yesterday. I would be happy for them if they won it all. I enjoy watching Spain play, because they have some amazing players, but I'm probably going to be rooting for the boys in orange. LET'S GO VAN DER FAAART!!!! BLOW EM AWAY!!!
  20. Definitely....I also think you tend to have much more inconsistent play when you have a younger team. I'm really surprised at the result...oh well, I just hope the final is a great match! BTW, I think we should just start a petition for the 2013 world cup. The way it works is, we just go ahead and award Brzil the 2014 cup, and that way they get the accolades they deserve and those of us who follow non-Brazilian teams will still have a chance to win lol Location of the 2013 world cup? Canada, of course!
  21. ...felicidades, espana...buen trabajo
  22. Well, he hasn't matched me by halftime of one game, but he's definitely got me out-earned by the fourth quarter lol....must be nice!
  23. BTW, does anyone else get a kick out of it whenever they see "Van der Faart" out on the pitch? I love that guy! lol
