That's exactly why I stopped wasting money on horror films at the theater. Too many times I just felt ripped off instead of entertained. The horror genre has a rich heritage in terms of the movie experience, but it seems over the last twenty years or so it's been cheapened to the point of absurdity. From time to time there were films that caught my interest since they seemed to actually involve some sort of character development and didn't rely just on cheap thrills. I would love to see a horror "renaissance", so to speak.

It's based on a true story...Doug Smith didn't touch a pair of skates until he was 19 y.o.

lol...the BPs are major d-bags...I hope they don't win

lol, I've never seen so much whining pertaining to riding a bicycle... I'm really hoping that Brenchel and the team with the hot girl make the finals... Also, I think it's time that some of these challenges involve DIRECT competition with another team. I think that would be a fun element.

You've sure got me sold on it, Fong'er...I can't wait! The horror genre tends to frustrate the hell out of me. It's easy to make a great TRAILER for a horror flick, but much harder to make a film worth a damn. I'm dying (no pun intended) to see a horror film that doesn't insult my intelligence or go for nothing but cheap thrills. I'm hopeful this may be the movie I've been waiting for.

I'm not a proponent of violence, but I hope at some point Brendan just turns around and pops Rachel right in the nose. These last few weeks she's been unbelievably annoying. I like when they use this double U-turn thing...not only does it make things more interesting, but it's better to have two teams get turned around than just one. That way there's at least one other team to compete against when you get thrown under the bus. I don't know about you guys, but if I were on the race and came across all those animals, I would have spent the rest of the dang hanging out with the monkeys and elephants...that was an amazing sight!

I was watching one of my favorite movies from last year a second time tonight..."Moneyball". It got me thinking about my childhood and how much differently my life has gone than how I imagined it. I had played a season or two of t-ball when I was very young, but I recall the first time I went out for a summer baseball league. It was 1984 and they had tryouts at my middle school (Blue Valley Middle School in Shawnee Mission Kansas). They were assigning us to one of two leagues - the National league for beginners or less skilled, and the American league for kids with more experience and/or better skills. I had a pretty shaky tryout and was thus placed in the national league. Over the next couple of months it became pretty evident to my coaches that I had a natural ability for the game. For a 12 year old, I was putting on quite a show. At one of the games later in the year, we played on a field where the fences were marked, and I had a HR that easily cleared the center fence that was marked 325 ft. I could throw runners out from left field without a hop, could run pretty fast, and was deadly at the plate. I still remember one of the mothers on the sidelines. She was from Puerto Rico and her son and I were buds. She used to always say, "c'mon, hit another one of those BOOMERS like you do!" lol. At the end of the season, I was selected for the all-star team...but not the National league all-stars, the American league team. When I started practicing with the American all-stars, we spent a lot of time in the batting cage that my coach had at his home. He was trying to get me used to the higher quality pitching since I had only seen national league pitching to that point. My teammates would sit near the cage and make comments every time my bat struck the ball. I can still hear the impact in my head, and I remember the looks on the faces of my teammates. By the time the all star game came around, I was nervous as hell. I only got one time at bat that game. The first pitch I swung and missed. A curve ball. Never seen that before. Second pitch came in and TWHACK, solid contact, but a little late in my swing...went a million miles in the air but foul and out of play. The pitcher went back to the curve, and once again I whiffed. That was pretty much the end of that. A few months later my dad would sit us down and give us the news that we were once again moving. We had already moved four times and had only been in KC for eighteen months. While this would lead to my passionate and life-long love for the Bills of Buffalo (I brought Coach Levy with me...you guys can thank me later), in the process I sort of forgot about baseball. I happened to get talked into going out for Track and Field, and although I ended up having quite a bit of success with the shot put and discus during my last year of middle school and all through high school, I wish that I would have continued with the game of baseball. Of all the things I loved and dreamed about as a kid, if there was ONE thing I just knew I could have done, it would have been to play ball. I may not have ever made it to the big leagues, but I know I would have been good enough to give it a serious run in the minors. I'm not sure even Jobu would have helped me to hit that damn curve ball, but of all the sports I played as a kid, baseball was the one that came the most natural to me. So what one dream did you have growing up that you truly believe in your heart that you could have turned into a reality?

I'm ready to admit I was wrong about Lisa...I honestly thought she'd be riling things up, but all this loud whining and emotional crap is getting super annoying. I had no idea she'd be this way...sorry to see Paul go, but I agree, I'm surprised he lasted this long, too.

Just When You Thought They Couldn't Get Any DUMBER..

That was a prequel. And it was the studio just going for a money grab...didn't involve any of the main players from the original. That's why I'm psyched for the new one...it'll have Carrey, Daniels, and the Farrelys back. -
I actually would love to develop an appreciation for opera. An ex-girlfriend was a student at the Eastman School in Rochester. She was a classically trained opera singer and I used to go and watch their rehearsals...I don't know if I could get into it in terms of listening to opera CDs, but I bet I would enjoy it if I went to see it live again. When I first heard the symphony join the rehearsals, I was blown away by the richness of the instruments...pretty impressive.

It makes no sense. Especially when you consider that our QB is basically a high paid Journeyman type (with all due respect to Fitzy), Stevie has been uber productive. He's a #1 in my book.

Oh man, those commercials for the Toronto show played ALL THE DAMN TIME back in Rochester when I was there...It was certainly worth the trip to see it, but the ads got annoying as hell.

I've only seen a few musicals in my life, but I can honestly say that "The Lion King" was one of the most incredible productions ever. I was completely in awe of the costumes, the vocals, and the overall presentation. The only other time I was really into it was when I saw Phantom at the Pantages in Toronto back in '95. That was a fun trip and a good show, but the Lion King was on a whole other level.

Speaking of the bathroom scene, I'm not saying I recommend it, but that "prequel" they did called "Dumb and Dumberer" had a bathroom scene with Bob Saget (proud Temple alum!!!) that had me rollin' -
oh man LOL

haha...funny you say that...I was actually going to start a Flyers Appreciation thread and see how long it lasted -
...they go and TOTALLY REDEEM THEMSELVES!! I just read that the sequel to one of my favorite comedies ever, Dumb and Dumber, is set to start shooting this fall. Article If Vader or one of my other fellow movie geeks already posted this, feel free to delete. I can understand how it would be hard to contain this news!!! In honor of this news, I give you a favorite scene from the original!

You can use this for any date, but I saw on another site where people were posting the #1 song at the time they were born. Mine? What's Yours?

Always wanted one

That show got canceled due to poor ratings. As for Idol, I wish they would always choose more recent stuff. I get tired of the same old songs year after year, whereas this week I heard a few that I was not familiar with. I ended up downloading a couple from Amazon after the show. I think the show is much more enjoyable when they pick fresher music to perform.

The accomplishment you are most proud of.

Saving a life my first year in the hospital when the overhead "code" notification system was down. And then, when I was unknowingly caring for the man's wife a year later, seeing the man I saved sitting in the corner of the room start crying when his wife told him who I was. -
I don't know why, but I just have a feeling about Nick Foles. I think it's almost a guarantee we're going to take a QB this draft, so it'll be interesting to see which way they go. There are some interesting QBs this year. I hope we find a good one, even though the chances are slim.

Wow, that sports science piece on him was pretty impressive. I was sold at, "hits with more force than Dwight Freeney"
