  1. inserting said stick in my....
  2. Lol....just stopped in b/c I was in beween playstation and a movie.... funny stuff between this thread and the Paco one. God dang guys it's friday....go bang your old lady.
  3. exactly. they can argue how great it is to not have a salary cap until they are blue in the face. The fact is, if they were born in KC and were fans of the Royals, or born in Detroit and were fans of the Tigers, they would see no reasoning behind letting ONE or TWO teams spend 5 times as much as they do. ----------------------------- The Royals had Carlos Beltran at the beginning of the year. They were "suppose" to win the AL Central this year. Everyone had them favored. The Tigers are playing in a brand spanking new ballpark in Detroit. The fans are waiting for something to root for.... The Expos are about the only team I felt bad for this year b/c they got absolutely screwed by MLB. Look at the A's...they are there almost every year (the playoffs) Why? Because of managment. Look at the Twins...great minor league system. If Pirates fans want to cry perhaps they should look at managment. Yes, the Yanks spend a boat load of money. But, if the cities aren't going out and supporting their teams like BoSox fans do even when they suck it's hard to justify all the successful franchises having to spend less to give back a competitive advantage. Once again, if a team is run well it will be successful.
  4. My initals are the same as my name....Ray....Ray....
  5. Atl's salary has been capped by management at 85 mill. We are a team in transition b/c we still have the big contracts of Chip, Andruw, Hampton, Smoltz on our books.
  6. I think the key is what Womack does....the guy is an asset with his glove, speed and bat. If he can get his back in shape it's going to come down to if he can get on base. And as far as last night....Friggin Roger Cedeno triggered that inning. Amazing how the bench can come through like that. Once he got on the only thing I was thinking was "Dave Roberts all over again".
  7. Personally, not that you care, I am against the salary cap. Attendance across the board is up 15% again this year. Baseball is coming back strong. The larger market teams are making a push to get this done. Also, this is the seventh team to represent the NL in seven years in the WS. How could a salary cap help this? Team chemistry hasn't been altered by the high payroll. An interesting tidbit of info stevestojan...of those ten teams at the bottom of your list. Four of them have invested large sums of money to build new stadiums in the last five years.....
  8. Yeah I'm sure he likes to clutch the bat ocassionally....
  9. Hmmmm....post about a 1-4 team or teams fighting for the WS title.... Yeah, well, I think you get the picture.
  10. I PM'd you BF...congrats on the win man.... The best team in the NL is going to the series.
  11. At Fenway....if you can get through. That's a lot of bread....
  12. The Cards have more votes than us.....WTF????
  13. What is it with people anyways.....I remember when the Lakers lost to Detroit. While I was rooting for the Pistons, I don't understand the sports talk guys and the media outlets calling them chokers and selfish and losers...same thing they are saying about the Yanks. Last time I checked no one is even close to the Yanks number of trophies...and the Lakers won how many championships while Kobe & Shaq were there? I just don't understand. We try to teach our children to say "good game" and play the game with respect for each other but yet when one team wins in professional sports you see this kind of garbage on the "professional" media outlets. To me, a sports fan, it's not in good taste.
  14. holy crap....if this is an unbiased sports network I'm Nancy Regan. Has anyone taken a look at the articles they have put up there today? They are down right nasty. Nasty I say. I understand the "Sportsguy" articles but my god.....everyone on the staff must be a Sox fan.
  15. I think it said Damon is my homeboy.
  16. Honestly, I hope it is because then I don't have to hear about it anymore. Lost in all this is the fact that the Astros could possibly be going to their first WS since their inception 43 years ago. There are other teams out there....
  17. I don't get it. Even Deion Sanders was willing to wear a different number...and I thought his ego was huge. Jerry should realize he's not in SF anymore and he's not the go to guy.
  18. we'll be 2-4 right. How are we gonna get back to .500 with one win? Arizona + Halloween....I doubt it's gonna sell out.
  19. Lol...it'll always come down to that won't it.
  20. It'll just make it sweeter when the Bills end up winning the SB..... Okay so you may be dead by then but hey stay strong.
  21. Yes, they fortunately do not have an NL version of the Yankees to deal with. Otherwise, that may not be the case. Which was my point to begin with. ------------------- right. Because the BoSox are now the cash cows to root against.
  22. yo Buffalo....my post was directed at BoSox management. Not the good fans of the Sox.
  23. One could also point out that because of Steinbrenner's relentless willingness to spend any amount of money, that the Sox have no choice but to be the second biggest spender in the majors just to compete. The reality is, that even though the Sox are second, they are a DISTANT second. The difference between the Sox and the Yanks payrolls in 2004 would have funded a dozen or so other teams' payrolls this year. --------------- And the distance between the Sox payroll and whoever makes it the NL is going to be at a minumum of 44 million less than yours.
