  1. Manning seems to have gotten better at throwing on the run the last couple of years. Forcing him out of the pocket used to be a surefire way to get him to make mistakes, but he's keeping more plays alive while on the run recently.
  2. Either you misheard the announcers, or they were wrong. Brady was sacked 26 times during the season, and his backup Matt Cassel was sacked three times. Correct. The Patriots' OL is solid, but good defenses get to Brady quite a bit. The low sack totals have more to do with his ability to stand in for the big hit and get rid of the ball when a sack is imminent. The only 1st round OL on the team is LG Logan Mankins, 2005 1st rounder out of Fresno State.
  3. I certainly didn't. I just searched my posts for Branch references, and here are the only two substantive statements I've made about his abilities: http://www.stadiumwall.com/index.php?showt...mp;#entry418204 http://www.stadiumwall.com/index.php?showt...mp;#entry478436 Hardly chest beating.
  4. Hey, c'mon...the Seahawks spent $39 million and a 1st round pick on Branch. He must be great, right?
  5. Can I get a prediction out of you for the AFCC game? I'm a little nervous, and I want some assurance from the human reverse barometer.
  6. No doubt. The sportswriters have it easy this week, as the headlines will write themselves. Brady's never lost in a dome, but the Colts rarely lose in theirs. I'm nervous.
  7. I guess I'm not sure what play you're referencing, then. I don't recall seeing a head-butt, but I'll look for it if I watch the game again.
  8. On busted-up screens, you can throw at the receiver's feet, even if he's behind the LOS. There's no rule against getting pushed into another player, and there shouldn't be one, since its out of the player's control. The CB from SD head-butted the Pats player.
  9. Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Drew Brees, and Rex Grossman all say hello.
  10. Are you perhaps referring to the play where Jarvis Green was BLOCKED INTO Rivers by a Charger offensive lineman?
  11. Stop that. Montana never had any bad games. Ever. Brady played like utter crap most of the game. But on a handful of plays, he came up huge, and that's why he's got three rings on his fingers and two SB MVP trophies on his mantle.
  12. Psst...that was Mike Holmgren. Yeah, I know - they're both fat guys with mustaches, but come on...
  13. Fox NFL broadcasts are terrible. I nearly lost it during Pats/Lions - terrible announcers (although they were far from the A team for a game of that caliber), awful presentation complete with the worst camera angles I'd ever seen, and that damn robot every ad break!!!!! Thank God there's only two of those a year.
  14. I knew the game was over right then. The Saints were running all over the Eagles the entire game. Dumb move. You don't give up the ball when your defense stands little chance of getting it back.
  15. Was just going to post this. I could see him being a Faulk-type guy.
  16. continued (What the hell? We're only allowed to post a certain number of quotes per post now?) Oh really? I SAW the refs keep the flags in their pockets because that's what they do come playoff time. I SAW the Colts receivers throw their arms up after every incompletion like they always do, and I SAW the Patriots win the game under the oversight of competent NFL officials. "Knew," "imagined," whatever... That's because there weren't. ESPN opted for sensationalism, as always. I'd have given it to Law or Seymour. I've never participated in online voting for Super Bowl MVP. You're certainly free to hold whatever opinions you want. Just don't be surprised if people call you on them if they're asinine and you state them in a public forum.
  17. To my understanding, a complete end to the throwing motion. Brady's throwing motion had not completely ended. 2-1. They were all legitimate season. The Patriots or the NFL aren't waiting for your approval. We'll never know whether or not that is the case (obviously), but everyone who watched that game knows Bledsoe's performance was mediocre. The very meaning of the word mediocre implies that anyone average or above could matched or exceeded the performance. I don't profess to know what would've happened had Huard come in instead of Bledsoe, but we do know that the Patriots won the game, Brady got the win (yeah, he did), and Bledsoe gets a tip of the cap from me for getting the save (albeit, a shaky one). So Brady had a bad drive, and that means he sucks? I'm not even sure what you're arguing anymore. You keep bringing up weird minutiae, but none of it changes the enormity of Brady's accomplishments. I suspect you know that, though. If anything, I guess I'm trying to get you to realize that acknowledging someone's accomplishments doesn't take away from anyone else's.
  18. I think Brady has his sights set on higher bowls than the Pro Bowl. Complain about the rule all you want (although any rule that frees referees from having to make subjective judgments surely has at least some merit), but that was the correct interpretation. In that game, Brady completed two-thirds of his passes and threw for over 100 yards in less than a half against a tough defense, and didn't turn the ball over. The Patriots were driving when he was injured, and the TD drive that he started was eventually finished by Bledsoe. Like it or not, that game is counted among Brady's 11 playoff wins, and deservedly so. You doomed yourself with "per ESPN." I think you and Trey Wingo are the only people on Earth who believe that BS stat. Making the playoffs in five of your six seasons is a negative, somehow? Winning 10 of your 11 playoff games is a negative, somehow? Brady is 2-1 in road playoff games. He won in Pittsburgh in '01-'02 (I know you want to throw that game out, but wanting something doesn't make it so, no matter how bad you want it), he won in Pittsburgh in '04-'05, and he lost in Denver in '05-'06. First he's 1-9 against Shanahan, now the '04-'05 AFCC game never happened - you're getting into AKC territory here, MDB. Again, how's Belichick's arm? What are his passing numbers like?
  19. Maybe, maybe not. Your problem is that you seem to think that if he doesn't, it will invalidate the three he's already won. It won't.
