I see you're getting a little greedy and carried away, asking for a fifth round pick. Just kidding. Hopefully someone will be dumb enough to give us a second or third round pick. We got a first rounder for Peerless. Anyway, teams are most likely to get raped when trading for a running back, as the Hershel Walker trade showed. Also the drafting of Ricky Williams, and to a lesser extent the trade that sent Williams to Miami.

49ers will NOT interview Jerry Gray

Seems to me you're stereotyping people based on age, income level, race, and gender. -
49ers will NOT interview Jerry Gray
KurtGodel77 replied to \GoBillsInDallas/'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You've been spoonfed this junk by a mass media eager to create controversy. It seems to me that at most positions, you really have to be a top-notch sprinter (for your size) to have success in the NFL. Because the best sprinters tend to be black, you won't see very many white WRs, CBs, RBs, etc. That advantage isn't as relevant at the QB position, because the QB wins games with his mind, not his arm or his legs. The racial composition of QBs resembles that of the general population; except that you see too few Asians and Latinos. If for some reason you feel the need to complain about racial discrimination at the QB position, complain about that! As for the hiring of head coaching candidates, not all head coaches have NFL playing experience. Romanowski pointed out that he'd played for three head coaches without NFL playing experience, and those coaches combined for seven SB appearances. Also, some positions (like QB) are better at weeding out less-than-intelligent players than other positions. Leon Lett had a long and successful career, despite having a less than average intelligence level. Few white athletes can pull a Leon Lett and use superior athleticism to compensate for mental shortcomings, because few white athletes have superior athleticism to begin with. The few white players who actually make it in the NFL are usually a lot like Mike Mularkey: tough, smart, disciplined, hard-working. They had to be these things to survive, because they didn't have the athleticism to compensate for shortcomings in any other area. There are black athletes in the NFL who meet this description as well. But if you look just at the raw numbers of black athletes in the NFL; you're lumping together guys like Jerry Gray with guys like Leon Lett. That's not an accurate way to assess the overall coaching potential that exists among black NFL players. If you really want to build a case that discrimination is taking place, you'd have to look at the racial composition of the former NFL players who'd actually expressed an interest in coaching. Then you'd have to weed out any player who failed to show superior on-field preparation, or who was considered a locker room problem. If the results of that kind of study showed that black players were indeed being discriminated against when it came to coaching, you'd have a much stronger case than you do now. People say that Romeo Crennel got a raw deal for having to wait so long, and that's true. They say that he's more deserving than a Dennis Erickson, and that's true as well. But Charlie Weis is at least as deserving a candidate as Crennel (look at the mockery he makes of our defense each time we play). Nobody sticks up for him, because he's white. Is the system unfair? Yes. But it's not an unfairness based on racism. It's because hiring is based on networking, on the good old boy system, and on whatever else results in having an Erickson be put ahead of a Crennel or a Weis. -
I know we all hate the patriots, but
KurtGodel77 replied to The Poojer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't think it was so much the fish exposing a Patriots' weakness as it was the Patriots not taking the game too seriously. It's hard to be at your best every week; and if you're going to have a down week, the Dolphins would seem to be a team to let up a little against. Unfortunately, the Patriots seem to know how to avoid that kind of performace come playoff time; where Tom Brady is undefeated. -
Did we kill the Arizona Cards website?
KurtGodel77 replied to taterhill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I know the Cards have three good receivers in Boldin, Larry Fitzgerald, and the third guy (don't know his name). Maybe we could trade Travis for whoever that third guy is straight-up. Then we could use said WR to fill our possession receiver slot; thereby allowing us to cut Moulds. With the $8.7 in cap room freed up, we could re-sign Jennings, and maybe even sign John Abraham. -
I completely agree with this post. Kids are supposed to be kids, which means learning to interact with each other without a bunch of adults butting in and offering "input."

Hate the Pats or Not...but I have to say....
KurtGodel77 replied to CentralVaBills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That is one ridiculously underpaid linebacker. -
We already have an underachieving former first round WR on our roster. Two would be too many. Is Johnson good enough to replace Moulds?
-
The good news is there is a way for the Bills to address the O-line and get Abraham. The bad news is that it involves getting rid of Eric "stone hands" Moulds. There is nothing wrong with purging an overrated, overpaid, declining WR . . . when you have an adequate replacement. Problem is, the only proven WR on the roster besides Moulds is Lee Evans. So we'd have to do something about WR in free agency, even if it's just signing a guy for $3 million a year to be our possession receiver.

You know you've got it bad when....
KurtGodel77 replied to Pine Barrens Mafia's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's funny. I miss those days too. Our special teams are better now than they were then, as you'll realize if you think back to the Titans game. Flutie's stats in 1999 were about the same as Bledsoe's were in 2004, so our passing game was about the same. We have McGahee instead of Antowain Smith, so our running game should be about the same, even with inferior run-blocking. FOr us to do better in 1999 than we did in 2004 means only one thing: our defense was better in 1999. The 1999 version ranked 3rd or something in points allowed, compared to 8th or whatever we are at today. I loved that '99 defense. -
Anyone who doesn't want to draft Nugent
KurtGodel77 replied to Albany,n.y.'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
While I'd love to have a Nugent on this team, there are so many other positions of need. The only two first-day picks TD used on the O-line were Jonas Jennings (3rd round) and Mike Williams. I'd like to see what TD could do with a second round pick at OG. We also need to look at TE, CB, DE, WR, even C. I agree that special teams are important, but your kicker is only on the field for about 1/4 of special teams plays. 1/4 the time you are punting 1/4 the time you are receiving a punt 1/4 the time you are returning a kick or trying to block a FG 1/4 the time you are attempting a FG or kicking off Given the choice between upgrading ourselves at kicker and upgrading our O-line, I'd choose the latter. -
Cant wait for Vick, Roth, or McNabb to show
KurtGodel77 replied to JP-era's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Look at Bledsoe in the last year before he got hurt; as well as the games he played in the year of his injury. Look at his performance against Pittsburgh in the NE playoff game. If you compare all that to what Tom Brady did with the same coaching and the same supporting cast, you'll see that Brady is on a higher level than Bledsoe. Brady seems to be aware of the whole situation on the field, whereas Bledsoe concentrates on a certain part of the field (like where his #1 target is supposed to be). -
So was Bledsoe REALLY the problem?
KurtGodel77 replied to MadBuffaloDisease's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Have you seen anything which has convinced you that the Patriots' secondary is affected in any way, shape, or form by the fact that all its members are on injured reserve? Me neither. Any time you hold the Colts to just three points in the most important game of their season, you earn the right to, uh, pat yourself on the back for having good depth at secondary. -

Coudl Gregg Williams Be the Next Belichick?
KurtGodel77 replied to JDG's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The difference between Belichick and Williams is that Belichick's failures in Cleveland were caused by bad personnel. The GW team didn't seem to take advantage of the best talents of their players. The other thing that killed Belichick was the move to Baltimore. The Browns lost every game after that move was announced, with the exception of their very last game in the Dawg Pound. Now, I know what you're thinking. With GW, the coaching effort was there, and the players didn't execute. That shows a lack of talent. Clearly, Travis Henry didn't have the pocket awareness to be a good QB, as he showed in the Miami game. Sam Gash was too big and too slow to make a good WR. -
If Moulds restructures and DB gets cut
KurtGodel77 replied to jahnyc's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What killed the Colts today was dropped passes. When you look up the phrase "dropped passes" in the dictionary, you see Eric Moulds' face staring at you. There is no sense in overpaying a declining and inconsistent veteran like Moulds if doing so costs you the chance to re-sign a Jonas Jennings. TD is a fool if he lets Moulds create an $8.7 million cap hit for next season. -
Remember Moulds WGR55am Radio interview..
KurtGodel77 replied to AirBledsoe11's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Drew might end up in Dallas. He's played for Parcells before, and Parcells seems to remember players as they were in their prime; not what they've become today. Parcells might also think, "Gee, when I was coaching Drew, he did pretty well. After I left, he started looking mediocre. Maybe it's a sign that he's washed up, or maybe it's a sign that other coaches don't know how to take advantage of his strengths the way that a real coach like yours truly can." -
Yes, the Colts receivers dropped 7 balls, but
KurtGodel77 replied to nodnarb's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Patriots chose to only score 20 because each scoring drive consumed so much clock: 7 minutes, 9 minutes, 9 minutes again. When your team is doing that, you don't need very many points; because the other team will have so few possessions. Anyway, you yourself will have fewer possessions, because of your own clock-eating efforts. -
Indy's defense played well in the first half, but they allowed some very long drives in the second half. They need some more beef in their front four.

Did TD make the right decision
KurtGodel77 replied to KurtGodel77's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What if that someone else happened to have a cool first name, like Kurt? Kurt started the year off quite well, before the Giants' overall offensive collapse made it almost impossible for there to be good play at the QB position. You give Warner the pocket protection Drew had, give him the weapons Drew had, and give him a RB like McGahee to take pressure off the passing game. If he does well, we make the playoffs. If he falters, you bench him and play Losman. Losman would be that much better off by having had several more weeks of practices before he had to start. You say that Losman had a full year in the film study room, and that's true. But there's a difference between studying a play on film, and actually going out and doing it on the field. If Kurt did get benched, he'd be very supportive of Losman's learning. -
The reason Indy only scored 3 points was all those drops by their receivers. You can't go on 14 play drives if your receivers keep dropping balls. Nor can you get yardage in big chunks if your receivers can't get open deep. You put any QB in the situation Manning was in today, and he'll get beat.

Did TD make the right decision
KurtGodel77 replied to KurtGodel77's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think you're overstating it, because the Bills were able to sign those free agents. However, they would have been better off had they traded their pick in the early 2nd round of 2002 (plus a later round pick) for a pick in the late first round; and used that first round pick to draft Patrick Ramsey. -
The Steelers and the Patriots are ranked first and second in points allowed. Defense matters!

And people don't think this is a Dynasty?
KurtGodel77 replied to buffalo mike's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There is more hope than you'd think. Just because a team has a dominant game one week doesn't mean it will walk over its opponent the next week. Consider that the NY Giants barely won their playoff games, while the Bills absolutely destroyed the LA Raiders in the AFC Championship Game. The Steelers are a better team than they showed against the Jets. Don't forget they'll have an extra day of rest.
