  1. So think about it... Indy pulls their starters, and give the game to the Jets...and a chance at the playoffs (which they take)...and now, the Jets have a shot at kicking Indy out of the playoffs. Had Indy played 100% they'd likely have beaten the Jets (and made sure they didn't make the playoffs) and kept their perfect season alive. Gotta say I'm pulling for the Jets on this one!
  2. A great player, and glad he was part of the Bills.
  3. C'mon...he washed out in Detroit...are we THAT bad that we'd consider a Lions castoff? (OH WAIT--Jauron was a Lions castoff...'nuff said)
  4. Agreed. Detroit would be all over Suh if they had a shot at him. It wouldn't take more than 10 seconds to get their pick up to the podium. It's a HUGE area for need for them, and I wouldn't be at all surprised if they swapped picks with St. Louis to get Suh.
  5. Even so...it's a do-able number for the Bills (and now we know Shanahan isn't coming to Buffalo, and Cowher isn't going to the Skins...)
  6. Ok, so we really need to finish the season to find the draft order, and then figure out the needs for those teams ahead of us...no matter what we SHOULD get a shot at a decent QB....
  7. Just thinking aloud... If it seems that most of us feel a QB is our #1 priority, does anyone have a sense of where Nix stands on the current available crop (Bradford, Clausen, McCoy, etc.)? Does he prefer one over the other (or maybe a better question is one style of QB over another)? Does he prefer to build from the line out? (And maybe this changes our draft so that we pick an OL first and defer the QB pick until later in the draft?) Maybe Nix prefers finding a QB from free agency (and not the draft)? Does he change the possibility of maybe trading up (which we don't historically consider) to grab our QB of choice (or is Nix more likely to trade down and stockpile picks)? Anyone have a sense of this guy's tendencies/preferences, and how this may affect our draft this year? Just don't know his history...anyone have some more info (or willing to speculate)?
  8. So...does anyone think Nix changes things in our analysis? Would he be more (or less) likely to select a QB? Anyone know his preference in the current draft? (Hmmm....maybe this should be a new thread?)
  9. Despite some speculation in the thread that Suh isn't the best thing since buttered toast, I find it impossible to believe that he'll drop further than #2...(Detroit would JUMP on him if he were available, and may even swap picks with St. Louis to get him). Yes, the Rams need a QB, but they will be under immense pressure to take Suh--as many have commented, no QB is a sure thing (and many top choice QBs have been busts). Suh is much more of a likely payoff pick...and not taking him could be a career-killing move. No--the only way that St. Louis doesn't take Suh is if they swap picks with Detroit (or someone else) and then they can justify not taking him...(and a trade there is a real possibility--Suh is a special player, and there are teams that may be willing to trade up to #1 to get him). Having said all that--it doesn't change my impression that as it sits there will be only 1 (or maybe 2 if St. Louis trades out of #1) QBs off the board by the time the Bills pick...which means we SHOULD get a reasonable shot at Bradford or Clausen....
  10. You know that's a good point--Detroit *MIGHT* try and move up one for Suh...probably an "expensive" move, but would certainly help St. Louis (and then again it might not be that expensive--they might do it for almost nothing too--just to avoid the costs of signing the #1 pick--maybe adding a #7 or so to the pick).... Hmmmmm.....
  11. Looking at this thread and this site leaves me wondering who might select a QB ahead of us? So we have a projected draft order of: 1 St. Louis 1-14 2 Detroit 2-13 3 Kansas City 3-12 4 Tampa Bay 3-12 5 Washington 4-11 6 Cleveland 4-11 7 Seattle 5-10 8 Buffalo 5-10 Assuming this stands, and no trades...and St. Louis drafts Suh...then looking at depth charts we have: Detroit - Stafford on board, so unlikely to take a QB with their first pick Kansas City - Matt Cassel, Croyle, & Gutierrez: Cassel still young, and likely staying...hasn't done too poorly this year (and not enough to justify drafting a QB #1 with all their other needs) Tampa Bay - Freeman, Johnson & Carpenter: Possibly a new QB taken here? But Freeman just taken in 2009 (with TB 1st pick--#17) so unlikely to give up on him and take ANOTHER QB #1... Washington - Campbell, Collins & Bartel: Campbell doing ok, and young (drafted in 2005)...not sure they're ready to give up on him? Cleveland - Anderson, Ratliff: Brady Quinn on IR so maybe they're still good with him? Anderson is awful, but do they draft a QB and (essentially) give up on Quinn? (Might be tempting to take a QB, but if they do would they avoid Clausen as an ND QB, given the lack of productivity of Quinn?) Seattle - Hasselbeck, Wallace & Teel: Hasselbeck is having a good year, but is old...would they draft a QB or have more pressing needs? Might not be able to pass up one of the top tier QBs.... So I'm certainly not an expert (and am looking for opinions) but I see Cleveland and Seattle as the prime possibilities...and Cleveland may avoid Clausen. Given the number of good QBs (Bradford, McCoy, Clausen, Locker, etc.) it seems that we're likely to get a good shot and a few of them...and maybe only 1 of them off the board by the time the Bills pick? Would love to hear from some folks that know more about each team's needs that are picking above the Bills--who is (and who is not) likely to take a QB? (And which teams have more pressing needs at other positions?)
  12. I think he actually may have caught one....
  13. The more important question is, given your assessments of how he played, do you think he might be the answer at QB? (i.e. would you draft a different position #1, even if we have a shot at one of the name QB's (Clausen, Bradford, McCoy, etc.))?
  14. Wonder if ND is sad they didn't wait a bit more before finding a new coach...
  15. Kitna, Harrington and Batch all played for Detroit...'nuff said. Wouldn't want any of those guys on the roster. (How bad are we if folks are advocating picking up cast-offs from the Lions?)
  16. I like the sentiment...although seems the NFL may not. Be interesting to watch what happens with this one.... http://www.sbnation.com/2009/12/19/1208729...-fine-number-15
  17. I like pick #15...sure Maybin is a bust...but Byrd takes away some of the sting.
  18. He'll be back...probably a bit tougher and meaner...
  19. The only benefit the Bills will receive from Suh is that he'll "use up" one of the draft choices for teams that are picking ahead of the Bills...(and that *may* mean a better QB choice for the Bills). EVERY team would love to have this guy, and (as folks have said) I doubt the Bills (or anyone else) will be able to trade up to get him...I could be wrong, but I expect him to go #1.
  20. Have to say I agree...my first time seeing Tebow for any length of time, and the folks wanting to convert him to a TE are making a lot of sense. McCoy has a cannon...but he didn't handle himself well mentally. He's a maybe...but high bust potential. Wish I had watched Pike... Makes Clausen seem like a better choice (and even there, you wonder how much is Clausen, and how much is Golden Tate...)
