Elam had a couple really solid tackles. One of them was late in the game and kept the clock running.
However, in coverage, he was pretty bad again.
You just didn’t notice him much because… well… Tyrod Taylor.
I totally get what you’re saying and for many positions I would agree with you. QB is one of those positions i’d agree with you.
But look at Bernard and Milano - they are both considered undersized LBers but they are football players through and through.
I just don’t think we should be drafting or not drafting players on 1” of arm length. That’s the difference between McDuffie and Elam. 1 inch of arm length.
I also agree with you that CB was an overreaction. Imagine George Pickens opposite Diggs.
Speaking only of this game…
We run the most amount of play action in the NFL and the Giants called our bluff the entire first half.
The LB’s we’re not biting on the play-action at all (they weren’t even moving). Thats why the running attack was so successful when we finally ran it (when the linebackers aren’t crashing the gaps, you can run nearly at will).
It was a scenario where the Giants were begging us to run the ball but Dorsey didn’t figure it out until the second half.
Quite frankly I thought Allen played a great game, and was shocked to see that some people thought he played poorly.
He had Gabe fumble the first drive away and a tipped ball INT. He also had a couple amazing first down throws into extremely tight coverage and the TD to Morris was bonkers. Inbetween 2 defenders with a rocket.
But Cook probably scores on this play if Josh sees him:
I simply never want to see a handoff from shotgun ever again.
Not because it can’t work sometimes. but because I don’t trust Dorsey to know when NOT to run it.
Like at the freaking goal line.
$52M contract and we can’t rely on him to catch the ball.
It is simply inexcusable.
Collinsworrh was going on and on about Allen throwing it short (and it was a little short), but Knox HAS to catch this.
I don’t think the defense has played particularly well.
We have given up 130 yards on the ground, and 15 first downs.
We are lucky they have Tyrod at QB.
