His point was that if extending a contract that was restructured numerous times was a fix all then the only restraint on teams is the owners willingness to spend mash amounts of cash. And he’s correct
-
Would love to add that physicality.
-
What happens to prorated guaranteed money from a previous contract with an extension?
-
They pushed $110M into the future (aka, it will be due soon) and they got their all-pro retiring QB to not take the $25M he was due. They didn’t fix the problem. They delayed it. And got a gift from Brees.

Extending isn't a fix-all. People seem to think it is (because it creates a year or two of cap relief followed by crushing cap burden) but it just creates a new contract with even more money (current market rates). For example, the Chiefs extended Mahomes a couple months ago to create cap space for 2023, but it made $240M in cap due over the next 4 years. Which will then have to be restructured, creating $320M in cap burden, but they have space to push it because he has a 12 year contract. Fans seem to have this idea that you can just extend and "poof" problem fixed .. if that were the case every team would give gargantuan contracts to free agents to get them to the city and then constantly restructure them until they retire. Just not how it works.

Right and every bit of money restructured is immediately paid. Every time Allen is restructured to the tune of $20+ million, his cap hit the following seasons balloon. when you have a very long contract, like Mahomes, this is easy peasy. That’s why Veach brags about Mahomes 12 year deal. But Allen’s deal is half as long. Which is going to become a problem. He is worth every penny - don’t get me wrong - but it’s still something that will have to be accounted for.

For those wondering Greg is just a fan, like all of us. And the Bills are $42M over right now. Not $29M over. So all the numbers are off. Looks like he is using a faulty number from OTC - look at the balance sheet from Spotrac. I also call BS on them restructuring Diggs. Doing so would lock him here (with no possible way out) for the remainder, at a time when he has shown that he is not happy with the current state of the org. The rest of the moves are likely. He isn’t accounting for several things, starting with a wrong cap number. But I don’t think we are cutting Von. Apparently if you make a video with wrong information, people will eat it up.

A loss last night would have lowered their playoff odds to 2%. Id rather have a motivated team that has hope to go out and beat the opponents we need. They aren’t winning out, which is what they would need to get into the playoffs.
-
I don’t agree. We want Cinci to have hope for a playoff spot and parlay that into losses against teams ahead of us.
-
That seems counterproductive, no? We want the Bengals to have hope of a playoff spot in order to knock off some teams that are in our way. Losing tonight would have basically ended their hope.
-
That’s quite the logic. ”I think the Dolphins are going to the Super Bowl because they have gotten their teeth kicked in by the only good teams they’ve faced but they’ll beat a good team eventually”

I have no idea how that laughing giraffe got in there. Honestly no clue. But i’m leaving it because why not. Weird.

I truly don’t think it matters. Browning just played the game of his life but it’s doubtful he can replicate that over and over again. He just scored scored a whopping 10 points against the Steelers last week. Bengals have Colts, Vikings, Steelers, Chiefs and Browns left. There is minimum 2 more losses in there.

Its because they keep accepting the ball! Ive been banging this drum for so long. The only advantage of receiving the ball in OT is if you can score a TD on that drive. But scoring a TD on any given drive is a low %. There is a much greater chance that you force a field goal or a punt. When 2 out of 3 potentials leads to you getting the ball back with a chance to win, you take that.
-
I’ve said for a long time that unless you’re playing a great offense, kickoff in OT. You can force a FG attempt (or better yet, a punt) and win with a FG. The chances that a team scores a TD on any given drive is low.

Jags season might be over.

I miss the days when the only thing we knew about a players personal life was random bar rumors.

It’s Chiefs week - and the season is on the line

Yeah, that's definitely been our kryptonite. -

KC is not the team they have been the last four years. They are in the same funk we were. Our offense is better than KC’s. We can beat them. -

Chiefs have only scored more than 21 one time in their last five games. I’ll be super disappointed if the defense lets us down again. Im confident we will have a plan. -

We wouldn’t be in the mess if the process was working. We have hope right now that we can overcome. -

Agreed. Im rejuvenated after seeing the Chiefs, Browns, and Broncos lose today. Titans came real close to beating the Colts too. Stinks they couldn’t hang on. -
We can beat the Chiefs. If we play like we have the last two weeks, even with the few mistakes, we WILL beat the Chiefs (they are not as good as Philly). They are in the same funk as we were most of the season. They have lost 3 of their last 5. The season is on the line here. Win and we are only 1 game back of the Chiefs (who would have thought?). The Jags play the Browns this week (go Jags). Broncos play the Chargers (go Chargers). Colts play the Bengals (go Bengals). I also want to know what NFL schedule maker thought it would be funny to make this the 13th game of the season. Real funny. Go Bills.
