  1. I’m fine with the idea of a fake punt in that spot. Especially since I don’t think we’ve run one in years.

But the execution was terrible. Hamlin was motioning weird before the snap, which tipped that something was up. Then the play itself never had a chance.

Basically if you are going to call that play there, you better have a flawless implementation and execution ready to go, which they obviously didn’t.

  2. I think he’s fine, and not really a problem with our defense. Considering where he was drafted and his cost, he’s performed adequately.

I kind of hope he doesn’t have a monster contract year, so we can retain him affordably and have stability at that spot. In fact, I would extend him this off-season to an affordable deal if I were Beane.

    You just described 2023.

I disagree, we rebuilt the o-line, added a bunch of role players on offense, people were optimistic about Diggs and Davis. There was optimism Tre White and Von Miller would return to form. A lot of people felt we were improved “on paper” before this season.

The reality we are now facing is Diggs is possibly washed, Davis is gone, I don’t think anybody is confident White or Miller will ever return to form (or even will be on the roster next season). We don’t have the cap to pick up the same kinds of role players on offense. Our safeties were already old and are now a year older (they might not be on the roster next year, Hyde is a FA and Poyer is a liability).

Next year the marketing will be “youth movement”, but we definitely won’t be considered better on paper.

  4. Wide Receiver, Safety, Defensive End. Take your pick, plenty of holes on the roster next year. 28 is late enough where you aren’t going to be landing a sure thing.

Check the last 10 years of the 28th pick. I’m not sure there is an impact player in the bunch. Actually, mostly busts.

The Morning after - and I'm not so mad anymore. ***** happens and I've enjoyed this - very frustrating -  season.

My conclusion is we lost it in the first half, under Dorsey, trying too much to pacify Diggs and losing to terrible teams. The number 1 seed is everything.

From 6-6 we bust our team up trying to make up ground. It was incredible sequence of vicyories, but to play, effectively, 7 'win or go home' playoff games back to back with no let up , led to injuries and did us in. We couldn't get a moments rest and, personnel wise, that told.

We didn't lose one game this year by more than 7 points. But that would have changed next week, I think. A healthy, relaxed Baltimore would have gone through us like the Chinese through Tibet.

Next year it's got to be No 1 seed or go home.

Next year is a rebuild year. The only way we get the #1 seed is if McDermott can get decent defensive results with less talent, and we hit on a rookie WR.

The goal should be making the playoffs, possibly winning the division and see what happens after that.

Many great coaches have used ball control to keep a potent offense on the sidelines.   Do you remember super bowl 25?

The big difference is in Super Bowl 25 the Giants had a much worse offense, so that was the correct strategy. Shorten the game, limit possessions and hope they can get a couple plays to come away with the win.

We have the 2nd best QB in the league, and the best intermediate passer in the league. They should be coming up with creative ways to get those kinds of plays available. We shouldn’t be trying to limit possessions, we should be trying to get as many possessions as possible.

Handicapping ourselves to keep the other team’s offense off the field is not playing to our strengths/advantage.

I find it so hard to put into words how I feel about Josh.  He is simply the best thing that has ever happened to this franchise.  At the same time, if I'm being objective, Mahomes is the better quarterback.  How do you argue with the body of work at this point?

Yet if you ask me if I do a straight up quarterback swap with the Chiefs, I'd say no way.  I want the bills to win the Lombardi but I want it to be with Josh!

Mahomes is in such a better situation it’s impossible to compare. Even though they had similar stats tonight, Mahomes barely looked like he broke a sweat. Throws were to open players, and when he made a couple contested passes on the first drive of the 2nd half, his receivers made the plays. One of his TDs was a complete wide open gift on a busted coverage. He was barely pressured, and when he was it was the only time the Chiefs had to punt.

Even his big scramble was him waddling down the sideline half-speed behind a blocker escorting him.

Compare to Allen, where he is constantly escaping pressure, making big runs, and delivering difficulty throws all over the field that his WRs drop. And it isn’t about not taking the “easy stuff”. Most of his passes were behind the line of scrimmage tonight.

The difference to me, is that Reid is 20x whatever offensive coaches we have.

Worst game I've seen from our defense this year.

Almost immediately, my hopes that the backups could fill in okay were dashed.  It definitely hurt that we were so banged up.

Worst game I saw from our defense was the first Pats game and it isn’t even close. What is more embarrassing than getting carved up by Mac Jones and a bottom-3 offense in the league?

  9. I don’t think he has what it takes to win the Super Bowl. He also has enough success to not be fired (thanks to Josh Allen mostly).

Biggest indictment for me, is that his defenses perform poorly in the playoffs. That is supposed to be his entire thing, and they have performed poorly over multiple playoffs.

the 2nd and 9 play to shakir was the right call. he was open. the first down run was not the correct call.

I kind of think the whole strategy of trying to run the entire clock down and score with no time remaining was a mistake.

Just try to score a TD, and if you give KC 4 minutes left then at least you might get the ball back again. Doing silly stuff like running Cook for no gain really hurt us there.

Maybe I'm just used to the disappointment but this one didn't hurt as much. I'm maddest at Bass but can blame others including Josh on 2nd and 3rd down on the final drive. The defense was poor all game. I know McDermott not good enough but who is?

This team went into the last 2 days of the season with missing the playoffs still a possibility. It didn't feel like a Super Bowl year. If anything they overachieved getting the #2 seed, a playoff win and taking the divisional to a photo finish.

Multiple dropped passes, including 3 deep passes. The Diggs and Sherfield drops were inexcusable with both hitting their arms (ball literally bounced off their bicep).

And even worse than that, NO ONE could get separation. None of our receivers.

Keep Shakir. Keep Diggs (we have no choice honestly, financially). And rebuild the entire rest of the WR block.

First Sherfield drop actually hit him square in the chest, lol. Reminded me of the Gabe Davis drop against he Jets last year after Allen partially tore his UCL.

  13. I'm kind of hoping that we hear about some injury Diggs has been nursing since mid-season that he can recover from. Because otherwise he's cooked, and he has a huge cap hit that we can't get out of because it's already had salary converted to bonus to reduce cap a couple times.

Josh carried the Bills tonight. But the difference in the end? Mahomes came up clutch when he needed to. Josh didn’t. It’s unusual for him, but it came at the most ill opportune time. Goodness knows what they do now - if we were lost at QB this would be the perfect time to rip it up and start again, but you cannot waste a year of his career like that. Feels lost at the moment and I’d be perfectly happy if McDermott is fired, Brady axed and Bass let go tomorrow.

Couldn't disagree with this take more strongly.

Mahomes didn't get a first down twice at the end of the game (bailed out the first time by a penalty), when he could have essentially ended the game. Allen did at least the minimum of his job, which was get the Bills into FG position to extend the game and he did that just fine even with Brady wasting every first down with a Cook run for no gain.
