My impressions from only the qb drills
1 nix - accurate, and a strong rhythm thrower. Doing know if he can be effective at the next level, but he screams career backup or platoon starter
2. Leary - best throws in the drills. Thought he looked really strong. Even has a bit of arm to him on the deep shots. Would be an interesting guy to stash for a year
3. Milton. Allen lite. Arm for days, but every 4th throw looks badddd. Great stash for someone
4. McCarthey - not a fan. Looks inconsistent and nothing jumps out to me. Has a great throw here and there, but not a fan. What’s interesting, idk if his first throw in any drill was good
5. Hartman - bad day, looks to be the worst by a bit

They did find money for Miller, but that was a lauded move to try to put the team over the top after they lost to the Chiefs 42-36. The thought was he could be a piece to take us over the top, and Davis would develop into a #2 next to Diggs. Miller is an unfortunate result, but I dont blame them for taking that chance at that time. I dont think they have made many concerning deals over the past 3 years.
What "well he is our guy and he earned it" deals have they had? Knox? He is a top 10 TE even with his catching problems, and that deal was made before we brought in Kincaid. Milano? Worth it. White? Injuries, but when healthy has played incredibly well. Oliver? Worth it. We let Edmunds go, and that has shown to be a great move.
You can't expect a GM to operate to perfection. They have a hole a WR2 because no team in the league is perfect. We will see if they can address it via the draft, and move onto the other areas that have become weaknesses (Safety, D-End).

Correct, but you don’t add a talent on offense with term when you know you have Allen with differed years already happening.
said differently, you don’t sign a WR for 5 years at top market deal last off-season knowing you have Allen already on a mega deal along with Diggs.
Kincaid was our young piece to add last year, and I expect them to add another this year

Dorsey was let go because our offense consistently showed little ability to adjust and create rhythms to operate through during a game.
And, the team as a whole needed a shakeup and Dorsey's exit could provide that without damaging the team's production. And Brady came in and improved the offense which was a plus.

Per the bolded, Allen's not on a rookie contract either like Purdy and Tua are. You dont get a top 5 qb + top RB + Top WR all being paid top $$$. And for the Eagles, Hurts is a very average QB, and his contract is nothing close to Allens.
The Bills also were never as bad as Cincy was when they drafted Burrow and Chase in b2b years top 5. Add in Higgins, there is your talent. Boyd is a Beasley/brown level talent. And he will be gone.
They have put SOME talent around Allen, but the reality is Allen takes up space as he is a top 2 QB in the league. We pay for the right to have him and it shows in other ways.

Agree,
They have won championships, but now they can cash in. Sneed could command TOP dollar as a CB, and he will have his pick of team. With term as well (4-5 years at top dollar).
Jones can also get a 3 year deal being the highest paid DT in the league if he wants.
I find it hard to believe KC would be able to retain both.

Baker is a Geno Smith type talent in the league. He can bring you into the playoffs if your team is strong, but he wont put you over the top. For a team who has been average for a while (Raiders/Bucs/Saints) it makes sense to bring him in.
For a bottom dweller, draft a QB. For a good team, you dont need to look his way.

I totally agree - I think it's one thing to say "If X/Y/Z happened we would be this, therefore we ARE this" and "X/Y/Z probably would have impacted the result we had."
I think injuries are better ifs to discuss than lack of execution. I find lack of execution ifs much more annoying than "it sucks we didnt have these guys playing"

Me putting a perspective thought isn't me not accepting reality. I've said on this forum before that winning the super bowl is a combination of being talented and being healthy at the right now. The Chiefs were both, and they won.
I think if the Bills have Milano and Tre White healthy and playing at the level they were at, their chance of winning goes up. Is that an outlandish thought? Just like if I said Sneed and Jones being out would hurt the Chiefs ability to win the Super Bowl. Is that really not living in reality? It's just a perspective based on ifs.

The Bills being in that position and the impact a healthy defense has on that game are two separate things. I'm sure the Bills take the position they were in 10 times out of 10. However, We will never know what position they would have been in if they had a healthy Milano and White. Do we believe Kelce does as much as he did in the first half if Milano is covering him? We had AJ Klein covering him and it was a problem from the start.

Regarding taking chiefs talent over Buffalo, that wasn’t your point in the post. The bills having superstars and the bills not worse superstars than the chiefs are two different things.
i also believe that a healthy White/Milano gives the bills two pro bowl or all pro talents added to their defense that they severely missed.
if the chiefs didn’t have sneed or jones, they don’t win the Super Bowl

KC has a couple …including Chris Jones who I think is the most valuable defensive player in the game at present …
They got 2 great CBs ( better than anything we got) … superior interior OL ( that handled Oliver with ease… ) and Kelce on the decline but still a big game winner …
Bills have got a lot of “above average “ players … but not too many game winners outside JA..

I didnt say they fired on all cylinders. I said the game highlighted the importance of firing on all cylinders. The offense had moments, and took what they could (and even threw the ball away) throughout the first half, knowing that their defense and special teams could cover. Then, when they needed the offense to rise to the level of the other phases, their coaching let Mahomes run his offense and they succeeded. Meanwhile, with the lead, Shanahan took the ball out of Mccaffrey's hands, and their offense sputtered. Therefore, it is important that your team succeeds at all phases at some point during the game.

The Chiefs and 49ers showed incredible execution at all phases of football. Both defenses were stout, both special teams groups made big plays, both offenses had moments (when the coach called the right plays...). With a game that close, I try to understand 1) why was it so close, and 2) What caused one team to lose and the other to win. For point #1, the execution by both teams was incredible strong on the field. I didn't see a lot of missed tackles, I didn't see forced throws by either QB. I saw guys taking calculated risks, but letting their system work for them. This was highlighted very well by Nick Bosa not giving up scramble lanes when he had the opportunity to disrupt the pocket, because his ROLE was to force Mahomes to only scramble on his back foot, with quick pursuit by the DE. We also saw Mahomes consistently willing to throw the ball away in the first half, knowing the game was not out of reach and a punt could be ok in that singular moment. Neither side was perfect on every play, but both sides showed a willingness to not force things... at least in the first half.
On point #2, I believe we saw a lack of adherence to a team's strengths by Shanahan. For all of us Bills fans who constantly criticize McD's coaching decisions, we would be furious as 49ers fans if we watched Shanahan move away from Mccaffrey in the second half and play more traditional set formation drop back with Purdy at the helm. I know Mccaffrey touched the ball 30 times between catches and carries, but that guy needed more carries on third and short. The 3rd and 4 from the 6 in OT? That ball has to go to Mccaffrey on either a screen or zone run. You cannot put the ball in Purdy's hands, who is the 5th best talent on your offensive side of the ball, and tell him to go win the game. On the flip side, we continue to see Reid letting Mahomes take over in crunch time. Similar to Allen, he is a guy who can take over a game or drive. And Mahomes knew he had to get Kelce going, and made sure he touched the ball frequently in the 4th.
Last night's Super Bowl was - for me - a relatively boring watch in comparison to previous years. Lots of field goals, very few WOW plays, and very few execution mistakes. That's where I believe this league is going. More and more teams who rely on "splash" being successful against poor teams, but getting outplayed pretty substantially by top tier talent. You can't win 60 minutes with just a potent offense, or just with a QB throwing 50 times. You need balance, you need a strong scheme (and willingness to stick to it), and you need execution at EVERY PHASE. Without it, you may get to an important game, but you wont win one.

Eh. It's a pretty bad look and sets a terrible example. HE is one of the best ever at the position, but he just gave the green light for kids and young guys who AREN'T the top at their position to throw tantrums against their coaches in public view. We dont need a player swinging on a coach because he was taken out for a play. We dont need a player knocking a coach down because they dont have the center of gravity that Reid does....
I think Kelce is getting beyond his prime years, and is getting caught up on the celebrity status a bit. Good for him, in the sense that he has accomplished a lot in his life. However, this is not the first time that he has thrown this type of physical tantrum on Reid, who only puts up with it because Kelce is critical to success. Also, Kelce has a TE coach he can go to about his complaints. He is jumping the ladder and going to the head coach in the Super Bowl to complain. Again, I think it's a bad example.

They carry the aura now as well. Teams are starting to go against their normal run because they fear failure. Look at the Ravens and 49ers going away from the run to try to have their QBs land the gut punch blow to the Chiefs because they could “see” a win. It’s the fear of Mahomes being in a close game where you gave him too many chances.
teams beat the chiefs by giving them no respect. The 49ers gave that team no respect to start, and they were winning. Then it becomes an effort to have Purdy out duel Mahomes, they go away from their offensive gameplan for the 3rd quarter, and it cost them.

It’s all so funny to me - I have no issues with Diggs being cryptic. He has no allegiance to Buffalo. He signed a deal, he plays because he has a deal. He doesn’t need to say he loves it, and he honors his contract every year.
i don’t say I look forward to coming to my job, and when the market was insane a few years ago everyone lacked allegiance to their employer.
Diggs is a little different in how he approaches the media. I don’t pay any attention unless he decides to not show up on Sunday.

Babich has learned behind one of the best out there in McD. Gives him a chance to take McDs defense and run with it.
Also gives McD a chance to focus on other components of the HC role with more intention.
Really like the move. I dont know what other potential DC options were out there that would make me MORE excited than Babich - and he wasn't a guy that I was interested in losing.
Good, smart move. Let's see how he does.

Jefferson is a great, great talent - top 3 WR in the game for sure. However, Diggs had 3 years of top 7 WR production, and for his "bad" postseason play, he at least has 3 100+ yard outings with the Bills in the playoffs. Jefferson has only played one playoff game, and had 47 yards.
I still consider it a win-win deal. The Vikings were banking on A receiver being there due to the depth of the draft. Let's be real, the Eagles taking Reagor above him was the biggest factor in the Vikings getting Jefferson. If the Vikings scouted Jefferson and thought he would be the all world talent he is, they dont sit still at the draft to see if he falls. I know they liked him, but Jefferson was the result of getting the pick, not the 1 for 1 trade that was made at that time.
Diggs has been great the last 4 years. If he is in fact declining, the Bills need to draft a first round WR and insulate the position. Which I believe they will do.

I understand being aggressive on 4th down early in games because you have the opportunity to cover the mistake if you dont convert.
But if you are up by 2 scores, and you have the chance to kick a FG - take the damn points. It isn't a situation where you are trying to claw every point out, so you take heavy risk to try to get 7 instead of 3. You have the lead, you have a chance to build on it.
Campbell seems like a guy who can learn, I wonder if he will adjust moving forward.

I think (and it’s my opinion) Burrow can go to any team in the league and be effective. I think Mahomes can go to any team in the league and be effective. I think Allen can go to any team in the league and be effective,
I don’t think Lamar can go to any team in the league and be effective. And by effective, I mean elevate that team to a playoff spot. Lamar does have an mvp, and will likely win a second (although I’ve made the point before, it’s the worst statistical MVP of the last 15 years). He has a record of 2-4 in the playoffs, with a 56% completion % and 6 picks. That’s just not good enoug when it counts

I think that was due to the first throw being bad
