Favorite moment(s) from the 2021 season

Those were some great moments! Thanks for sharing, bro. I know it didn’t end the way we wanted but it turned out to be a really good season in the end. We showed Pats fans who the beast of the East is. Also, we closed the gap with the Chiefs by beating them and by going toe to toe with them in the Divisional Round. -
Favorite moment(s) from the 2021 season

This is probably sarcasm, but just in case it's not, I believe Groot's INT was the first Chiefs game in the regular season. -
To bring some cheer to the forum, let’s talk about our favorite moment(s) of the season. For me, it’s definitely the Chiefs game in the regular season. We were on a roll and the Chiefs were struggling but they’re still the Chiefs. I couldn’t watch the game until after it was over and I thought I saw something that confirmed that the Chiefs were winning or had won. So, I went into the game thinking that we may have lost or at least we’re losing at the time I thought I saw what I saw. Even my wife made a face, she knew what the outcome was, that I read as not good (anybody ever do that where they think they know an outcome of a game based off of someone else’s reaction that knows? 😜🤣) To my surprise, the bills put a beat down on the Chiefs and established themselves as a team that could go toe to toe with them. The Josh Allen leap was amazing and his long TDs to Knox and Beasley were great. He was definitely the better quarterback on the field that night. What’s your favorite moment(s) of the season?

It was a hard loss AND we closed the gap

As I mentioned before, the Chiefs are the gold standard right now. We didn’t belong on the same field with them last year. This year, we beat them and went to the wire with them in the playoffs. Just because we met them in the divisional round this year vs. the AFC championship game last year doesn’t mean that we didn’t close the gap against the team to beat in the AFC. -

No, it’s progress. Just because it wasn’t the progress you wanted doesn’t mean it didn’t happen or it’s some kind of moral victory. Yes, we didn’t achieve our ultimate goal but progress was made. We didn’t belong on the same field with them last year. This year? We beat them and then went toe to toe with them until we lost in OT. -

What does being past moral victories have to do with closing the gap? I acknowledged that we didn’t succeed in our ultimate goal and that it was a tough loss. It doesn’t mean the gap didn’t close and progress can be made. Both things can be true which was kind of the point of my post. -

While I don’t agree with your comments about the coaches (the coaches are part of the reason Josh closed the gap), even if what you’re saying is true, the gap was still closed. -

What’s so pollyanna about acknowledging a tough loss and mentioning that they didn’t achieve their ultimate goal but also acknowledging that progress was made because the gap between the bills and chiefs have closed? -
Because football is win or go home in the playoffs, because you’re judged by wins and losses, sometimes the feelings are too black and white. Yes, it was gut wrenching. Yes, I still can’t believe that we couldn’t stop them with 13 seconds left. 13 SECONDS! It was a tough, hard loss and it’s going to be a long off-season. This isn’t a moral victory post. We lost and didn’t achieve our ultimate goal. That said, we still closed the gap. Progress was still made. Last year we lost to them at home and didn’t play well and then we got embarrassed in the AFC Championship game. We weren’t on the same level with them and it showed. This year, we beat them by eighteen points in the regular season and lost a heartbreaker in OT in the playoffs. Many would consider us to be pretty even with the Chiefs now, or at the very least, very stiff competition. We belonged on that field tonight and it went down to the wire. That’s so much different than last year. I know it most likely feels black and white for most people right now and many of you will disagree. That said, while it was a gut wrenching loss, we still closed the gap. Because of #17, we’re not going anywhere and we’ll be back. Let’s get better in the off-season and get back to it in 2022. Go Bills!

Most likely, with Allen and the offense so dialed in, we’re going to get our points. So, as some have suggested, the difference is going to be the defense. Tyreek Hill can be dynamic but he’s had a very up-and-down season and can have games where he struggles with drops. Their most consistent player to catch the ball is still Kelce. It’s vital that we take away his chunk plays because his yards after catch in some games can often be the difference. He didn’t play last game against the Chiefs, but I’m gonna go with Matt Milano. We need him to help slow down Kelce, prevent the big chunk plays and keep Kelce’s YAC to a minimum. He’s definitely up to the challenge. According to next GEN stats, he is allowing the lowest yards per target since he entered the league in 2017. Who ya got, Bills Mafia? Go Bills, it’s your time, get back to the AFC Championship game!

I definitely get what you're saying. I really do. That said, they do play against each other. If Allen has an awesome game, it does affect how Mahomes has to play if he wants to win the game. And vice versa. A QB typically has to play better against a top QB because they're playing against each other. If Mac Jones were playing against Mahomes most wouldn't think that Mahomes would have to play as well to win that game. That said, if he was playing against Brady or Rodgers most would say that Mahomes would have to be on top of his game to not only keep up with a QB like that but win the game.

It’s a two minute video, so it’s short but sweet. Even the guy that picked Mahomes said that Allen has a higher ceiling, he just doesn’t do it as consistently. I really do believe that Allen vs. Mahomes is most likely the new Brady vs. Manning rivalry. My hope is that Allen is the one that has more success over the long haul. Hopefully it starts this weekend. Go Bills! Your thoughts not only about this upcoming game but do you think Allen can be the one that has more success vs. Mahomes over the long term?
