They are deep in OL probably the deepest group on the team. I am HOPING by the end of the year I am either shocked at how well Newton has played, or am seeing positive movement from Jones.. I don’t expect to win the East this year it will still be the Bills division.. I am hoping they improve enough be #2 and maybe a wildcard team. Team still has holes on O, like they don’t have a true #1 receiver, and no real elite WR, I still think Jacoby Meyers is the best of the lot.
I see they are deep on the OL, but Wynn likely won't last and then there's the number of roster spots to account for. If they carry 8 OL and one is Wynn, to me thats actually going to be thin. Wynn can't stay on the field and on a related note neither can Jonnu Smith. So I see them carrying 4-5 Players between TE and FB in order to maintain their offensive scheme. They're always heavy on DBs and they have a ton of LB's, and that eats up a lot of roster space. Depending on injuries I think they can threaten us in their best case scenario.
My biggest curiosity with them is actually Stidham, who clearly has the best arm in their QB room.

Correction— he is NOT wanting Jones to face Brady and have the kid hear the hype all week of “Brady v Jones” crap.
You are right he built the D to lead the team and IF Jones wins the competition expect a playbook similar to 2001 Pats. Safe throws, lots of running.. just don’t make mistakes and let the D win games.. will it work? I think they win 10 to 11 games that way… I think the D be that good as long as the O doesn’t screw up
This sounds just about spot on for June. Injuries will change and dictate the actual narrative, just like it does every year. I think they will have a top 5 scoring Defense, struggles at QB and injury issues at TE and OL.

Well when you only throw 368 passes you can easily have a better completion percentage.
For comparison Josh threw 572 over the same time for 69%.
Granted, Josh is the man, but thats not the point. Point being that Newton is not as bad as people are saying here and that team isn't going to be the same one we saw last year. The Homers as usual are all upside for us and all downside for them as they convince each other that we're entitled now. I'm not buying any of it, we have Allen and Diggs, otherwise they have the better roster overall. I don't think the team will take them lightly, its just a thing around here with our fanbase.
We put them down last year which makes this a critical year to see if we can keep them down and gain a psychological edge going forward. If they split with us I think thats a major lost opportunity.

According to this board Newton can't hit the broad side of a barn, but he actually completed almost 66% of his passes last year.
I know 13-3 is our floor and 7-9 is their ceiling right? lol, gotta love June.

My original post or statement was true. It had nothing to do w commenting on training camps in general
Then when asked, i said i just don't start jumping to conclusions off of news here in june. I like to wait knowing there is a process for teams n players to get ready.
You're a Pats fan on a Bills board, expect random hostility.

for me again it's June, not thinking Newton will do better than what is already seen. I think he is toasted, but I am not concern because i have no idea what is going to happened. I still believe in the coaching staff and the head coach has proven to squeeze blood from a rock on many occasions. More than others have, and their roster is better. What is not being talked about is their defense is going to be solid. Something that wasn't last year. I think that will factor in a lot for them.
In spite of being 7-9 last year and seemingly giving up at the end of the season they still had the #7 scoring defense. They added a ton of talent and will likely crack the top 5 in scoring defense.
All they need is a game manager. Can Newton throw deep? Nope... Can he run, stand tall in the pocket, lead the team? yes.
I'm not dismissing them, their going to be a tough out.
As usual, in a competitive league, injuries will dictate the fortunes of many teams. I don't expect that dynamic duo of TE's to be available even half the time and WR looks thin for them too. O line might be an issue too, so it looks like some of the same stuff as last year. They will be a better version of what they were last year and won't be able to do anything but play a ball control, mistake free type of tight game. If they get behind early, its over. 2nd tier behind the big boys in the Conf.

Bledsoe, he set team records in 2002 when he had Moulds, Price and Travis Henry. In 2003 they let Price go and ruined a great dynamic and also failed to get a decent TE. Josh Reed was no Peerless Price. Fans blame Bledsoe, but other than Moulds/Henry, what did he have? That and the Defense sucked.

Its June....We like anything that talks about football because there's not much to talk about yet. 🤨

So is everyone else in the league.

They were competitive last year and completely upgraded the roster, 7-9 is the floor for them. I think they are a threat. It's probably going to come down to key injuries and who has the roster depth, schemes, and luck to cover for it. If Cam goes down, they may not skip a beat. If Josh goes down, we're not looking good.
-
Look at last year's rankings and how far off they were by season's end, for the most part. Injuries will dictate a lot of how the season will go, just depends on who and when they go down. I think we have solid depth and can weather the storm, but many of the rest can't say that.

These are great days we're living, bros. We are jolly green giants, walking the Earth as Bills Fans!
Sounds good to me. I think TB runs away with it this year though, they have an All-Star team.

I think that he did what was asked of him for the most part. They were very conservative in the passing department and totally dependant on the run game. With a better team around him on both sides of the ball, another year in the system, etc., I just don't expect the same thing from him or them as a team. I suspect they will be trouble. Notes on his passing, for perspective: https://www.boston.com/sports/new-england-patriots/2021/03/12/cam-newton-2020-season-advanced-stats

Nothing offensively will ever help Cam Newton at this point, he is done in my opinion, but their TEs are now the best in division. Their RB maybe even 3rd down back is the best in their division, and their Oline is will be pretty good. Wide outs are an upgrade, anything is better from last year and the won seven games considering. BB could win with serviceable wide outs, don't need top tier wide outs win.
Newton had a huge uphill battle last year with old injuries still effecting him, no offseason, a complicated offense, got COVID, etc. To pencil in his last year's numbers for this year would be a serious leap to a conclusion. I'm guessing starts every game for them this year, barring injury (which could easily happen).
As far as the rest of that team goes, we have them in QB1 and WR1 by a lot. The rest of their entire team from owner, coach, facilities, players, etc. is equal or better than ours. In spite of their terrible offense last year, they're D let up fewer points than us and only broke down at the end of the season when it was pretty clear they weren't going anywhere.
Last year was exactly that, last year. I expect to beat them, but I don't expect to beat them twice again.

Dunno... I feel like Miami is trying to prove they belong and NE will be trying to prove they never left. If Newton has a career renaissance, this is going to be a serious dog fight for the Div.
-
I'm not sure who to be more worried about in terms of personal welfare. Wilson is in the media center of the globe under a microscope and Jones is going to enter a QB room with a true diva in a Marvel comics superhero body with huge personality to match. Newton may not be able to throw any more, but he's still a former NFL MVP, led his team to the SB, looks like a Greek god, etc. Look at Jones without a shirt on and then Cam.... lol
The most effective QB on their team might turn out to be Stidham, who will be traded at some point.

Too early to speculate.... Each season is very different from the last, and trying to extrapolate on last year's performance is an exercise in futility. The Jets are no threat, I agree that Phinz will regress and we won't really know what NE is until November. NE always evolves from July through Oct each year until their identity is forged for THAT year. It looks like ball control, 12 personnel-smash mouth, tough D. It would be really hard to be anything else with that roster. I see them as the threat to us in the division. The key variables are Newton, and as always...how injuries play out.

Every NFL fan other than Patriots* fans feels that way. It has nothing to do with being a hopeless homer, and everything to do with the fact that Patriots* fans have shown themselves to be bandwagoners, unethical, abrasive, and arrogant. While Bills fans have been charitable, insanely loyal through horrible seasons, and unlike 90% of Patriots* fans, can name a player that played before Brady came into the league.
Most of our fans are the same age as their fans and can't name players they never watched, its kind of normal... As for the unethical, abrasive, and arrogant vs charitable, insanely loyal, etc. I guess we'll have to wait and see about that and I'd like to have the opportunity to experience extended winning and high expectations again.
I do recall fellow Bills fans taunting other teams fans at home games from 88-93 with a certain "swagger" (see abrasive, and arrogant). With winning comes a sense of entitlement and I don't think we'll handle it any better than "them". Its human nature, its American and it will definitely be amplified for a fan base that so badly wants to win after 20 years of futility. A SB win would wash away wide right and music city miracle pain in an instant.

At this point, I'd say the Patriots have as much of a fanbase in Boston/NE as the Red Sox and Celtics do. They were the underachievers in a crappy stadium until Kraft bought the team, now they're equals with the Red Sox and Celtics as far as Boston is concerned. After close to 30 years of consistent success and high expectations, the fan base is a byproduct of that. Can't overlook that their franchise is now #7 in the world and #2 in the NFL behind the Cowboys.
Trying to profile their fans as anything less than that is wishful homerism. Of course we can have a partisan opinion, it just feels better, but doesn't make it accurate.
Regardless...Go Bills, and wings are better than chowdah, but I'll make an exception for fresh Lawbstah any day.

If you nod your head to that or agree, you're a hopeless homer feeling the effects of 20 years of being on the short end of things. lol
Its over! 20 years...D O N E.

😆 I bet he moves out of NE before the summer ends.
He's from Cali and NE is the still part of the "Northeast". I'd be shocked if he stayed. Our Summers are the best, its most of the rest of the year that truly sucks.

Ah yes the post season and comparing the game now vs the game back then in different eras. GTFOH with that nonsense. Illegal picks plays and PEDs. Welker was 100x better than him. He has zero shot at the HoF.
Man the 17 yr old Cheat fans on the board...
He likely won't make it to the HoF, some advocate for, some don't: https://www.nfl.com/news/is-former-patriots-receiver-julian-edelman-a-hall-of-famer
As for your personal comment... I'm 50, and man, the entitled dipsh'ts on this board who assume and get personal because of a high post count. So...GTFOH with your personal comments.

I think the record shows that elite defense and a reliable offense is what wins in the playoffs and SB. KC has an elite offense, they got shut down and their D got crushed by a reliable offense. Same the year before, and generally speaking the team in the SB with the better scoring defense, wins.
Offensive fireworks are always sexy, but defense still wins championships. We saw it last year, the year before....

I read his knee is bone on bone. He's done, retirement announcement coming this Summer.
