  1. The Indy fans may be hoping they don't play the Bills in the wild card round, but I really doubt Dungy, Manning & Co. are "hoping" for a certain team. They're a good enough team that they feel they can beat whoever comes into the dome.

Having said that, I think what Peyton said the other night about learning their lesson from the 1999 game in Buffalo (about mailing it in) was partly for show. He knows - just as the coaches do - that they don't want to risk anything by actually playing.

Mannings words were encouraging. It all boils down to Dungy and his decisions. You are certainly right, no team goes in hoping to lose. Our best hope is that Manning goes big while in and racks up some TDs. I'm going to be a huge Manning/Harrison fan on Sunday.

  2. well it all boils down to whether the jets win or not

Yep, all of my eggs are in the Rams basket. Thats scares me to no end. I'm relying on the team speed of the Rams and their experience to carry the day. The Jets are having one of those lucky years, that bothers me. They are so overrated. We deserve their spot.

  3. in the first round and not the Bills. If they have thought of this (I'm sure they have), they might reconsider the finish strong strategy. Would you rather finish with a win and (potentially) face the Bills? Or a loss and face the Broncos. I'd take the later.

  4. We have to hope that the speedy receivers of the Rams overwhelms the Jets D. That's the best hope here. The Jet's have a good run D. they can stop Faulk and Jackson. The old adage is that the run opens the pass, but I think it'll be the opposite here.

I like what I saw of Jackson on Monday. That guys got some power. Faulk isn't the same runner anymore. If Jackson plays well, they can win.

The Rams also have a short week to prepare. That's not good. Luckily, it's in the dome in St. Louis. If this were in Jersey, no way Rams.

  5. Thanks for the info. I'll just take a win and a loss by either team. If we get that double loss scenario, I'll be extremely pleased, but that is a real stretch. DCgirl, that is good analysis. I think that would be the ideal path. Going into Pitt is always scary, but Manning is more worrisome.

  6. For some reason not too many fans from other teams come here. When I look at other teams' boards there are plenty of Bills fans. Probably because the Bills have such a big following.

I hope when Bills fans go to other boards that they keep the smack to a minimum and talk intelligent football. I know I have seen some posts that make me wince. I've seen good posts by some of the regulars on this board.

  7. Why, he was taking a "sack" on first down consistently.  I have noticed that willis takes more awkward tackles than any running back i can remember.

Anyone remeber when Bo Jackson had the hip pointer that ended things for good? It kind of looked like that was what happened at first. I was pretty concerned. I saw the future of the team lying there, it could have been devastating.

  8. Well look at it this way......

Last year we knew our fate was decided by this time..... :)

So true. I'll be very pleased if they can win out, even if they don't make the playoffs because that ius one heck of an achievement. Then you have to believe that very good things will be ahead of us next year. I am certain that this team has a bright future. When you see the young guys like Evan and McGahee producing like they are, you've got to believe.

  9. Nobody wants us to get anywhere near the playoffs. We could do some serious damage to the favored teams. If we did get in, I think we'd pull and upset or two. If we played New England again, it would be a very interesting game. Just thinking about that possibility gets me going. I'd love to march into Foxboro and take those guys out. But, I'm getting ahead here. Let's get San Francisco and then see where things are.

  10. ...unlike the Faiders of 2003, who folded the tent early under Callahan, the 2004 Faiders have played teams hard and tough for Norv Turner throughout the season.  I would expect nothing less than a max effort vs. Jax in their closer 1/2.

They didn't do a bad job against us the 2nd week of the season, I saw that firsthand. Their D can be tough, especially with big Ted and when Sapp decides to show up. You are right, they won't mail it in.

  11. Don't count Oakland out just yet. They have a lousy record but if you noticed, they played with some real fire against Tenny. Tennessee doesn't have a great record either, but they have been playing lights out lately, so that Oakland win, to me, was impressive.

That last JAX game is on the road in Oakland.

    You just gotta believe!!!

Oakland has improved. They played a great game in Denver a few weeks back and they have played well (even though they have lost) since then. If they play tough for pride, who knows? Collins has been playing some good football recently. Maybe I'll even have to cross the Bay and cheer on the Raiders that day.

  12. What I am wondering is if the jags have a let down this next week....

I mean...think about it....they are coming off a mentally and physically draining game with the packers...who almost get the turnover they need to tie it and send it to overtime.....

It is games like this that cause a team to come out flat....I think they lose next week...

I look at it like this....if we win our remaining games and we get in then it was meant to be...if not...then it is a great start for a run deep into the playoffs next year.......

    169143[/snapback]

Yeah, on Primetime, Tommy Jackson and (of course) Boomer were all excited about the Bills. He pulled out the "nobody circles the wagons..." and Tommy Jackson said next year we will be a playoff team for sure. I think they are really hoping we get there. I guess i'm just being pessimistic because it'll be easier for me to swallow missing the playoffs if I don't get to excited here.

I will be on the houston bandwagon all week.

  13. I know...ive been sick about that game since yesterday - that was such an important game for us.

Baltimore will lose to Pitt in Pitt. And Denver will likely lose to Tenn in Tenn or to Indy the last week (even without all starters).

Lets hope Houston wins this weekend.

Houston is one of those Jekyl and Hyde teams. They can be really tough or they can get wiped out. They did beat Jax already and it was a decisive win. I wish the game was in Houston, I think Jacksonville is not an easy place for teams to play.

  14. You can't win when you throw two picks into the endzone. It was too bad really, but we can only win the games in front of us.

(On a side note, am I the only won who thinks Leftwich looks like a tall Gary Coleman? Whatchootalkin'bout, Willis?)

You are 100% right. He totally does.

I was so psyched when it appeared to be a Green Bay touchdown and then that guy just took it right out of his hands. Jacksonville is having one of those years where all the bounces go their way.
