At the time, I could see that being an issue, seeming how we didn’t have any nuclear bombs near Russia that could be deemed “fair” . Russia would have a distinct advantage with missiles in Cuba. Now, I don’t see why it would matter, because we would both have weapons close to each other.

Which considering we have them in Germany and other places in Europe, it would be hypocritical to not allow it. If we are truly worried about it with Cuba, then we shouldn’t have any in Europe. We can still have a NATO alliance but no nuclear bombs. Oh well I guess. NATO alliances are important when facing a crazy country like Russia. Just look what happens when they don’t have an alliance. I bet Ukraine wishes they would have never given up their nukes now.

We already have nuclear weapons in NATO countries though. So it’s hypocritical to deny another country to do so in Cuba or wherever. I personally don’t care, it’s every sovereign countries choice. But I don’t see why Russia is mad at Ukraine for wanting to join NATO, they already have NATO counties on their border. Putin just can’t accept his sphere of influence is dwindling. He’s acting out and wants the former USSR together, so I agree with you there. The problem is physical imperialism at gun point is absolutely wrong and should not be tolerated. Putin has to be dealt with.

Nobody forced Putin to be evil, he did so on his on accord. Nobody is responsible for that, only Putin is. No, the clerk could have done the right thing and returned it.

How is NATO western imperialism? These countries CHOOSE to be allied because they want guarantees in case they are attacked. That’s just to bad for Putin and Russia. Maybe if they didn’t suck, people might not want a safe alliance. NATO is purely for defense. So saying it’s an aggressive force is just Russian propaganda. If Cuba wanted to join Russia, we have no right to dictate a sovereign countries choices.

AOC and crew are just as wrong as well. This idea that NATO is the aggressor is BS Kremlin propaganda. You can’t tell sovereign nations what to do. These countries are seeking protection in the event that they are invaded. They know Russia crazy, why do you think they wanted to move away from USSRism to begin with? We already have NATO countries that border Russia, so having Ukraine join wouldn’t change anything. Putin is just mad his sphere of influence is gone because nobody in the modern world wants strongman oppression tactics. Sucks for Russia, maybe if they weren’t terrible neighbors more people wouldn’t seek out NATO protection.

What socialist want and normal people want doesn’t mean we side with socialism. Putin is a psycho and the fact that Tucker even supports him deserves condemnation.

I personally would like to see more of a mix. I don’t mind old school hip hop but a lot of the new stuff is unlistenable. Would be cool to see something like Bark at the moon at halftime and transition into something like Drake, Nicki, or Doja Cat.

It’s a great sadness all the way around. The woman will likely need counseling for the PTSD of opening doorways and other perceived threats due to the encounter, not to mention the financial loss due to potential bodily harm or future complications. I’m just glad nobody was killed in this tragedy. Drugs and whatever mental problems this guy had likely caused him to do things he normally wouldn’t have done. While I do think people should face some kind of punishment or corrective action, I’m not a firm believer that jail is the right solution for a lot of the criminals in the system now. Obviously some people need some kind of social isolation to prevent uncorrectable behaviors from happening again to unsuspecting innocent people, but some kind of new reform system is greatly needed. The fact people here or in society make “drop the soap” jokes or wish it onto criminals is just as evil as the crimes these people commit. NOBODY deserves unwanted sexual violence or any assault while in prison, not even hardened criminals. The fact that it is even tolerated within these institutions should be a crime in of itself. All that stuff does is create even more psychological trauma on criminals to the point where they will never be correctable.

He didn’t kill the woman. Which should count for something. While I still feel sorry for the woman and her ordeal, the victim-criminal relationship needs more deeper understanding. In this guys case, 16 years seems excessive, especially if he has no other prior violent crimes.

Either way, it’s incredibly sad. Bad decisions have left this man so paranoid that he probably acted out in a behavior that probably wouldn’t have happened being sober. I’m not sure doing 16 years of hard time is going to really fix that issue, and I think this is where social reforms are needed. Obviously as a collective society we want to prevent these kind of evil behaviors from happening again on some totally innocent person. But I feel like there could be a better way.

Agreed. People need help for varying reasons. Shaming mental health debates and support is just the root of the problems. While I don’t think criminals should go free, I think individual cases should be factored in a lot more than they currently are. Jail often times makes things worse than it otherwise would have. Jail is a type of psychological warfare that often hardens criminals more than it does to correct the unwanted behaviors that landed them in there to begin with. Socioeconomics and drug abuse often complicate things that cause people to be labeled evil. Most violent crimes aren’t committed by true sociopaths. But once in a while, you encounter a true EVIL person without any reasonable socio induced problems that could make one think that society in some way damaged them.
