I find the amount of faith in Brown, and lack of additional cap space to be surprising here. Unless they have a FA in mind already, I don't like the lack of depth this move creates. Williams was good at RG, but also could play RT in a pinch, which happened a few times last season. This is a lot of faith in Brown and creates a starting gap. I don't think his contract was crazy and that's a lot of dead cap space (For Beane). I'm sure there's a plan, I just don't like it initially. I trust the process and Beane saying supporting Josh was their number one offseason priority

I agree, but I also believe this is slightly independent of that. Yes, the cap adjustment is helpful now as FA is about to begin. But moreso, this was when the extension was always rumored to happen on behalf of Diggs. So knowing that, or if it’s true, why wouldn’t you do it now when you can achieve both benefits. If they were just restructuring for the sake of the cap, then I would agree.

I am genuinely surprised Diggs hasn’t gotten his extension yet. Regardless of the FA plan, that’s going to happen. So what’s the hold up? Unless it’s Diggs’ camp
