  1. Legette is intriguing to me because he’s a converted QB.  Those guys tend to have an innate feel for getting open because they see the field the same way the QB does. Hines Ward, Julian Edelman, and Travis Kelce were/are always open, and I think having all been QBs played a part in that ability.

Buddy, you said nobody was getting cuffed or going into custody.

And?  Let me know when he gets cuffed or taken anywhere.  He’s going to show up with his attorney, go through whatever the process is in Texas, and go home.  He’s not taking a ride in a police car or getting locked in a cell.

Then again, maybe I’ll be wrong.  I’m not a lawyer.  I’m just a guy whose football predictions are consistently correct and insightful.

All this ugliness would’ve been avoided if @Billl had just said, “wow, sounds more serious than I thought it was gonna be.”

We would’ve all had a nice laugh and moved on.

Sometimes, being able to laugh a bit and a little humility goes a long way.

that’s why I strive to be humble and always admit when I am wrong (which is virtually never.)

If Rice spends even one night in jail, I’ll come here and self flagellate over how wrong I was.  Lord knows I am long overdue to be wrong about a football-related opinion.

In the meantime, I’ll go on record.  Rice spends zero nights in jail.  He gets diversion and loses his license in TX for a year.  6 game suspension lowered to 4 on appeal.

Not to change the subject, but how happy were you when the Order of Little Sisters of the Poor showed up to start at Linebacker for the Bills against KC in the playoffs? 🤔😊

So because of the Patriots dynasty, teams should only draft QBs late on day three. Right?

Of course not.  They should draft them at pick 10.

So your opinion is that if the Bills entered the 2024 season as is, our passing offense would look better than last year?

Not at all.  The OP’s point was that the Bills would be better off spending money building a defense and letting Josh work with less expensive receivers.  My post quoted people spiking the football after the Chiefs lost in the regular season due to poor offensive performances, yours included.  Turns out ZV may have been onto something.

I’ve said many times here that elite receivers are going to get theirs no matter who the QB is.  There’s a case to be made that giving massive contracts to those guys when you’ve got a superstar QB is a waste of resources.  But that has nothing to do with the posts I quoted which all amounted to “haha, Kansas City struggled offensively so clearly the OP is wrong”.

The longer this thread goes on, the worse you're making yourself look, Billl.

I'm even in agreement with you on the fact that not much will likely ultimately come of the Rashee Rice stuff, but...you're just not doing yourself any favors with with your hostility, condescension, and insults here.

Any time someone even insinuates that Rice MIGHT be in for some more serious legal trouble (which, again, I happen to think is unlikely), you turn rude and hostile, if not outright confrontational.

At this point, I'm starting to feel like maybe you should go back to Chiefs Planet. Your demeanor might fit in better there.

That’s BS.  I wasn’t hostile nor insulting to anyone until people started calling me out.  Is the rule here that Bills fans get to insult fans from other teams without response?

I simply stated widely reported truths about the many reported scum bags KC has employed over the years and agreed with you after you reminded everyone of the Chiefs SB odds

New Era asked for my response to the events.  My response was that he’s not going to serve jail time, and it didn’t impact the Super Bowl odds.  In no way was I being an instigator.

Yes, the Bills  were terrified of such a dominant player, so just desperately ran and ran (as you say, 'away") from him.  Parsons played a great game, but the Bills were just clever enough to keep away from that powerful, immovable force that is Parsons.

I am reconsidering my position and now think the Bills merely got (very) lucky this past year against him and the girls, and were just somehow able to 'run away' from Parsons, getting monumentally lucky they were fast enough to keep away from that dominant brute.  It is terrifying to think what the girls and Parson will do to the poor Bills the next time they play each other.

No, it shows his greatness and that the Bills just lucked out--don't worry the girls will almost assuredly come through the  next time when the Bills aren't so lucky..

The Chiefs scored 51 against the Rams in 2018. Prime Aaron Donald clearly wasn’t a dominant player. Of course, the Rams scored 54 largely because Chris Jones was similarly terrible.

Love Matt, but he is NOT an impact player of the type that will win championships.  It's not Matt's fault; he's a LB.

We need impact players at positions that MATTER to winning close games in the big moments.

No one on D is going to do that IMO.

He also misses more tackles than anyone in football.  He’s a fantastic player, but he’s got his limitations.

Uh yeah, that's Gabe and DK. DK regularly gets himself in more favorable positions which means he gets 2.67 more targets per game than Gabe which is a whopping difference in NFL terms. He produces like this despite teams specifically game planning to stop him and with a much worse QB than Allen throwing him the ball.

How did you think this post made the point you were trying to make?

Yes, he gets a ton more targets but he doesn’t put up all that much more production.  In 2022, Metcalf had 50 more targets.  He wound up with 200 more yards and one fewer TD than Davis.  I’m pretty sure Davis could have equaled his yardage total had he been forcefed the ball the way Metcalf was.

Last season, Metcalf had 30 more targets.  He had 350 more yards and 1 more TD.  So over the past 2 seasons, Metcalf has had 550 more yards and the same number of TDs on 80 more targets.

I’m not trying to say that they’re equal players.  Metcalf is significantly better than Davis, but the margin isn’t nearly as wide as people here think.  DK is wildly over-rated here and Davis was always wildly under appreciated.  Guys who put up 7 TDs a season don’t grow on trees.

  11. The Bills are returning 11 TD receptions.  They’ve added Curtis Samuel who caught 4.  James Cook had 4, and he’s the only returning player who had more than 2.  I don’t know that Johnson would have been the answer, but Beane had better figure something out because they’re also returning exactly 2 rushing TDs from players not named Josh Allen.

For what it's worth, I've since seen the "this much pot is a felony!" part redacted, and the correction noted that it is in fact a misdemeanor.

Nevertheless, between the pot and his admitting that he was driving the Lambo, chargeable offenses are starting to pile up for Rice.

The main questions are: How lenient will the judge be, given that he's a start athlete? How effective will his lawyer be in pleading the deal down to a lesser offense and avoiding jail time?

I think that the key determining factor in Rice's NFL career going forward will be whether or not he serves time in jail. If he winds up, say, paying a fine and settling out of court with the victims and doing community service, I think he'll get a 2-6 game suspension, do the usual Mea Culpa token apology tour, and go on with his career. If he serves time in jail, all bets are off.

He’s not serving time in jail.  What are you on about?

Some of us did not like the 2022 offseason at the time and it has proven to be pretty much an unmitigated disaster:

    Free Agent signings:

    Jordan Phillips - $5m

    Tim Settle - $9m

    Daquan Jones - $14m

    Von Miller - $120m

    Roger Saffold - $6.25m

    Ryan Bates - $17m

    OJ Howard - $3.5m

    Jameson Crowder - $2m

    Extension:

    Stefon Diggs - $96m

    First round pick:

    Kaiir Elam

I know he had some decent success with some of his later picks - Cook, Bernard, Benford - but it is by any standards a bit of a disaster of an offseason.

This is why I can’t understand why people criticize McDermott more than Beane.  That is an abomination of a performance by a GM, but it’s the coach’s fault they can’t beat the Chiefs.

Yeah, you’re right somewhat. But is he having the continued success after Alex Smith; a la Pat Mahomes?

    He’ll be productive. No doubt. Don’t think he’s coming away with the average of  100 Rec’ / 1238 Yds / 8.6 TDs…

That’s a huge average for a WR, let alone a TE.

QB and system over 6 years versus the following over 4:            76.8 Rec’ / 975 Yds / 5.5 TDs with Alex Smith.

Still elite numbers but not otherworldly like the ones with Mahomes/Reid.

    QB matters.

Every game thread, it’s “why does nobody cover Kelce, he’s always wide open”.  Mahomes helps, but elite receivers get their numbers regardless. Metcalf is very good, but he’s nowhere near the hype just as Davis isn’t great, but he’s better than he gets credit for around here.

Are we seriously comparing Gabe Davis and DK Metcalf?  What would Gabe’s numbers have been with Geno Smith and Drew Lock throwing him the ball?

Not sure why it’s so hard to figure out given that it’s been proven out for years, but number 1 WRs get their numbers regardless of who the QB is. Adams and Hill went from Rodgers and Mahomes to Carr and Tua and their numbers didn’t regress whatsoever.

DK is better than Gabe, but they’re a lot closer than people here realize.

Unless you were in the room, you are only speculating

There is zero chance they didn’t get his approval before making this trade. Josh is more important than anyone in the organization other than Pegula. Can you imagine the Chiefs trading Kelce without consulting Mahomes?  That would never happen.
